The warm rain showers that started Sunday saturated the foothills, causing rocks and mud to wash onto the four-lane section of Highway 168, southwest of Shaver Lake.
This is actually from the Fresno bee: 168 is above Prather:

The section will remain closed until further notice, according to Jose Camarena of the California Department of Transportation.

He said Caltrans engineers and California Highway Patrol officials were working together to determine when the highway would be safe enough to reopen.

Camarena said the damage was reported shortly after 9:30a.m. on the right-hand lane of the eastbound traffic lanes and that motorists initially were allowed to get through on the other lanes.

After further study, officials decided about 11 a.m. to shut down all four lanes and direct traffic. Motorists can take the old Tollhouse Road or Auberry Road for access to Shaver Lake.

I am guessing Sierra High School has a modified bussing schedule today!!

hhmm..I wonder if this means the ski slopes won't be as crowded at Sierra Summit?

Adopted Mama cat had kitties at our house. Moved them into our laundry room so they could be warm, dry and safe. I was petting her and she freaked out and clawed my face She has now taken 2 outta the 3 into a corner by my washer and hisses every time I go in there. I am wondering about the 3rd kitty....why she no take it with the others? What to do, what to do??

I am very busy!!! But it is nice. I actually feel like I have a real grown up job and everything!! And next week's paycheck will make me feel REALLY grown up!

Beano - does your family still have a cabin there? Shaver Lake is so pretty. Our family cabin is up above Bass Lake. Tu sabes North Fork? Or Central Camp?

No Beano family cabin....he had one when he was a kid. Not no mo'

My dad sold that cabin way back when, so we could build a pool. Then he bought another one in Ockenden (Shaver), but sold it a few years ago too.
I still love going up there though, camping at Edison, fishing the lake, etc.

And laugh away with reckless abandon.

And maybe a day at Blizzard Beach.
Although at my waistline, fat does breach.

World Showcase is just so much fun!
But I might be drunk when I am done.
