October 28th is too early for Christmas ads!

I don’t think I’ve noticed any Xmas commercials yet, but it wouldn’t bother me.

For the past few weeks I’ve been alternating between Halloween slasher movies and Hallmark Christmas movies. lol.

I was grocery shopping with my husband a few weeks ago and we saw egg nog in the store. I love that stuff but we weren't even halfway through October yet.
It was actually late this year here. First saw it October 8th. Checking my Facebook posts going back a few years it usually in the stores the last week of September. But to me it really is more of a "fall" beverage than a Christmas beverage. I have seen it served at Halloween parties. And in recent years, it is often sold out before Christmas and not restocked. I remember before the pandemic a very upset lady at the grocery store the first week of January who was a member of an Orthodox church that celebrated Orthodox Christmas on January 7th, She was looking for Egg Nog for their church's children's Orthodox Christmas Party and it was all gone. After that the manager made sure he found a way to keep some in stock through January 7th.
Although some have posted here in the past that small local dairies produce it year round.

Drives me freaking nuts. Halloween is my favorite holiday. Christmas is second, but I'm old-school. I didn't like that Halloween Horror nights started at the beginning of September, and I really miss the days when Christmas exploded into being on Black Friday. Though I will admit that our local Lowe's is doing it right. Spent some time the other day just standing in the narrow walkway with Christmas on one side and Halloween on the other. I LOVE Christmas-themed haunts, so it worked lol

I think it's because in my eyes Halloween has gotten out of style now and they want to focus on Thanksgiving and Christmas rather than Halloween. Because it used to be every October you would see tons of Halloween commercials to get people excited about Halloween and Halloween would be promoted in candy commercials and fast food commercials. But now it's all replaced by Butterball Turkey commercials Jennie-O Turkey commercials Balsam Hill Christmas tree commercials and Pillsbury Christmas commercials and it seems like Christmas and Thanksgiving have replaced Halloween as the top holidays now. And when I was seeing Youtube World Market is already promoting Christmas decor in a commercial. And I think the stores are gonna get big money this holiday season due to these overhyped Christmas commercials

Pumpkin Spice
Yeah - I hate the whole pumpkin spice hype thing - I saw a story that Starbucks started their pumpkin spice the earliest ever this year - some time in August I believe - it just gets earlier every year.

ours was already out of the Halloween stuff -just a small table of junk really - I usually pick up the stuff a week before for 75% off - not this year :(

I do like waiting until after Halloween to starting thinking about/decorating for Christmas. We usually decorate one of the weekends around Veteran's Day, or on that day. I don't care about Thanksgiving, fall decorations, etc. so I don't mind at all that that seems to get skipped.

I don't mind them. I'm already doing Christmas shopping lol. Nov 5, I will be decorating my office for Christmas. We've had Halloween stuff up since the beginning of Sept, so now it's my turn lol.

Hobby Lobby has had Christmas decor out for 2 months now here lol

I'm ready for Christmas!
I will be ready for Christmas about two weeks before when we put up our decorations and lights. However, in our household Christmas continues until the Epiphany on January 6th. Everything stays up until then.

I celebrate Samhain and Yule, though I do also "celebrate" Christmas with family and friends because that is what they celebrate. Samhain is one of my biggest holidays of the year for my practice. To the point where I am taking tomorrow and Friday off work to do so.

So yea... please keep your Christmas out of my Samhain.

I saw the ad with John Travolta as Santa yesterday. Also, I was watching Food Network and all their Christmas content starts on Monday, it would seem.

I'm okay with Balsam Hill. You've got to have shipping time for those trees and it isn't like Amazon where it's overnight. So I get that they want to advertise for people who put their tree up in mid-november. And I'm okay with the craft stores putting stuff out in the summer because you've got to have time for people to make their projects. Most people need more than a month if they're going to craft gifts or decor.

But everybody else? Hold your horses please, until at least November 1st!

I would rather see holiday commercials than political ones. :hippie:
I was just going to say the same thing! I usually put our Christmas tree up November 1st so I’m not minding early Christmas commercials at all. 🎄🎄🎄

Yeah, except that Disney and retailers both started Halloween in August.
They sure do.

I can understand craft stores, and get that Disney is maximizing with MNSSHP and OBB because it is on select nights. (Still kinda hard to celebrate MNSSHP in the blazing heat and humidity of Orlando August, but I get it.)

However, I see no need for Christmas trees to be up and decorated in department stores in September/October. Slow your roll, Santa. ;)
