Hello all. I am new and will be taking the fam on first Disney cruise in October. DH and I've cruised once before, DS and DD have never even seen the ocean.

Wondering if we are sailing on an empty ship, as I can't seem to find a link to a thread started for this sailing. But then hey, if we're alone I guess our crew will have a great time on the AquaDuck!

Hoping to hear from some others who are going along, and praying now for good weather.

Mods please forgive if I have posted incorrectly, I'm still learning!

Sorry to disappoint but it's not going to be a totally empty ship, my family will also be joining you on the cruise. Both me and my DW have both cruised before, but this will be our 2 DS's first cruise as well as our first disney cruise.

Yay, glad to know there is someone else on this board going! Where are you from?

What are you thinking for your family for excursions in Nassau or are you staying on the ship? Do you think we will have a trick or trick and Halloween party like the 2012 Halloween week sailing? I am thinking about costumes, just in case. ;)

We are from Long Island, NY.

We haven't really though about any shore excursions yet, our youngest son will just be 9mos old when we are on the cruise and our oldest will be turning 3 a few days after it, so we are not sure what excursions would be good for them.

Trick or treating on the boat would be a lot of fun. Maybe they would do something on Pirate night. We will have costumes for the boys because we are actually going to the parks after the cruise and are planning on going to the Halloween party at the Magic Kingdom on that night.

Wild, we are also going to the parks after we disembark of Oct 31, but we are going to avoid MNSSHP. Will be everyone's first WDW experience (except me, I went when I was 12), and for us, we think there is enough for us to do without the extra expense.

We are only staying three nights at the parks, and heading home Sunday so will be a flying trip through three of the four, with probably only half the day on Thursday by the time we disembark, make the drive and hit a grocery for some snacks. Staying on property at AoA. Would have loved to stay longer but our DD and DS are 8 and 11 so a week off school is about all we can manage this time.

I have found several places where it says DCL did a trick or treat bag for kids last year on our week of cruising. Just hoping we don't have a repeat of Hurricane Sandy experience like last year's folks did.

Why are there no others on this board going with us? Seems strange.

We will be staying through Tuesday for my older sons birthday which is on Monday the 4th. We will be using our DVC points to stay at AKV, we were planning on taking the Disney transport back to the resort after the cruise.

Trick or Treating on the boat sounds really cool, as far as Sandy I would rather be on the ship then at home during the storm like last year.

I'm sure other people will pop up from the cruise sooner or later, if not there won't be very long lines for anything on the ship and no crowds at the pool.:)

My family will also be on board. Our first Disney cruise, we are so excited. Have you heard of the Fish Extenders? It's a fun gift exchange, kind of secret santa-ish. These pocket organizers are hung from a decorative fish ornament that is attached to the wall outside of each cabin.Prior to the cruise, fish extender groups are formed and organized via an online Disney fan site. Once numbers are finalized, each member of the group prepares a gift for the other participating cabins. There are no rules regarding gifts (no minimum or maximum dollar value). Often times, the gifts are handmade, but not always. Once the cruise has commenced, participants deliver their gifts to the other participating staterooms, leaving them as a surprise in the fish extender pockets. One of the most fun aspects of taking part in a fish extender group is checking in throughout the day to see what little goodies are waiting.
I am trying to find one for our cruise dates, is anyone else interested?:stitch2:

We are definitely interested in doing a fish extender, we are only now beginning to hear and learn about them but are looking forward to doing one.

This is our first time on a Disney Cruise. Make A Wish is sending us. I would love to do the fish extender exchange. Can someone please tell me how we go about this?
