Our roads are bad. We've got that storm system that came up through the states, though I'm sure it won't be as bad here as it was there. School buses ect weren't cancelled because it didn't start snowing till after the morning commute started, but I just got back from our Wednesday morning outing, and WOW, the roads are bad. Gotta love those snow Plow drivers who don't know how to plow. I could barely turn onto my street as the plow left a HUGE pile of snow across the entrance as he plowed down the street I turned off of. Usually they turn the corner so they don't leave that. Not today, and no sign of the plow guy or his truck either. I don't think our car would have made it over the huge chunks of snow , but my van did once I gunned it. Very wet snow after starting with some freezing rain. It's pretty out though, Huge snowflakes currently falling, just huge.
Lois, I love being snowed in, it happens so little, I know my DH doesn't like it though because no matter what the road conditions EVER, he still has to go to work.

I really do not mind being snowed in as long as we do not lose power. I do not like using my vacation time to be able to stay home ad off the unsafe roads. However Iwork for the government so that is just the way it is. Took the morning off and went to the office about 11 AM. Did not get all that much done but I showed my face.

Well I got to go paint a bookcase and clean up after our foster dogs. We have two mamas and 5 puppies. They can be so very messy. Check back later hen I have a minuite to leave my reality behind.

This last storm you had, was it heavy wet snow and a ton of it? Thats what we got today. All my daycare parents were 1 to 2 hours late to pick up their children. I don't mind though, and expect that in weather like this. I'd much rather they take their time than risk getting in an accident trying to hurry here. Interesting this is, all over our city today, in fact even on the main road into my neighbourhood, City buses and transport trucks were the most vehicles in accidents or in a ditch. In my neighbourhood, the main road was/is closed because a city bus was in an accident is is sideways across the entire roadway. ?????? These are big heavy vehicles, I don't understand how this happens. I like my van because it is bigger than our car and handles in the snow much better. Yep, very glad I wasn't out on the roads for the later part of today when the roads were worse :)

We got what you got. Wet very heavy snow. Had several businesses where the roof gave in. Also an apatment building forcing many families to find other places to live. They are unable to get to their struff because the building is unsafe. Could be weeks or monthes before the roof can be repaired and the building is safe to be used again. It will take weeks of warmer weather for the massive piles of snow to completely melt.

I only have 4 more full winters to live through before we can move to Florida. Praying that we will be able to afford the move and to buy a house to live in in the fall of 2018.

Thats a fabulous future plan! I only wish :)
I got up this morning, thinking for sure school buses would be cancelled as we did get more snow over night. The whole city is a mess, with roads still not cleared for an easy commute. But no, buses are running "but expect delays" the report said. Here, if we get a "Snow Day", or Freezing Rain, the Schools remain open but all school bus transportation is cancelled. They don't teach on these days, they let the kids play all day, so I don't usually send my kids on a snow day. My DH texted me this morning, saying to keep Tim home from school, (he walks) as the roads are a huge mess and the pathways have not been cleared. But Tim missed 2 weeks of school last month due to our vacation on the Fantasy, and before Christmas he missed a week due to illness. He can't afford to miss anymore teaching days. So he's off. He loves the snow!

Oh my goodness i found us on page 4. This will not do. I am am providing just a small bump up to the first page.

It is the week-end time to Party!! Really it is time to sleep. And dream

Hi just wondering if the FE list has been started yet? I like to buy throughout the year as and when I see things that are suitable

I do not think that the list has been begun. I think Jennifer may be the one who will spearhead that project. I am sure she would welcome any assistance in getting the list started and maintaining it over the next year and a half.

If this group is anything like the other two I have been a part of with Jennifer and Ron it will be very active and somewhat large. I hope this info is helpful. Lois

I've already started making my FE plans, as to what I'm doing for adults anyway, and part of what I'm doing for kids. As to quantities, no one will know till the cutoff date anyway. I think I will count on 35 staterooms to start (average for the cruises I've been on, and that is counting a split group, if I recall). In any case, if I put together too much, then I have extras to give to CM's :) I know when I stop in at the Dollar stores, if I see Disney stuff for kids, I just stock up :) So go ahead, and have fun shopping :)

Thanks guys i will start shopping then I already have some princess colouring books and pencils, ribbon to make lanyards

Does anyone know of trip insurance that will include a pre existing condition? I have a friend, who's mom has been diagnosed with a stage 4 metastatic cancer with unknown primary. The family has asked her what would be on her bucket list and she said "A Tropical Cruise" and thats the only thing she wants. So the family is getting together to arrange one for her, still pending a care plan at the hospital.
The question that came up that none of her family can get an answer to yet, is about emergency medical and trip insurance for her. I'm sure there is one out there, does anyone know?

I know there are some out there but do not know what they are. This may be a question to post on the main cruise thread if no one here has a good answer.

Just a post to keep us on page one! Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

I am going to get the wheelbarrel and shovel and begin to do my weekend cleaning!! LOL Lois

Good Monday Morning everyone :flower1: I'm now adding my 15yr old son to the roll call for this cruise. He'll be 17 by the time we cruise (WOW), and originally he didn't want to go. But I sat and had a chat with him and told him "I" WANT him to come! He smiled and said OK :confused3:worship: Teenagers!!!!!!

sadly, after finding out some information last night we will not be sailing with you.

We thought my DD woud be abe to go in the teen club, since she would still be in Highschool, But since she will have just turned 18 thats a not.

I was hoping she could do teen club and Palo, but no.

So back to the search page for us.:confused3

That's cool, my son and nephew are hoping to cruise with us too, they will be 19, I think it's a good opportunity to see the world!

Hello everyone! We will be joining, too. DH, me and DD who will turn 8 on the second day of the cruise!! So excited!

Thats really too bad. DCL changed the rules sometime AFTER 2009. When we sailed in 2009, my daughter was 18 and still in High School. She should have graduated just before her Birthday (June Graduation, July Birthday, and we cruised in Oct.) She had gone through Cancer treatment for 2 1/2 years, and got 7 credits behind in school. At the time, DCL's Policy was that that as long as they are still in H.S. they can use the teen club. She had a blast that year being able to hang out in the teen area as well as relax at the Adult pool. I don't understand why they changed their policy, but I did hear they did, sometime within the next few years after. :(
