October 25, 2008 Halloween on the High Seas (2)

And I see you've got two more booked since then - it is quite addictive, isn't it?

I'm booked - got the ressie confirmation in the mail today. A GTY 11B room. I thought it would be booked (with increasing prices as the day passed) on the first day open to the general public. But on Oct 20, I was looking at the DCL site and found this cabin. So it's just me (and 2500+ other people).

I booked most of the family for the May 31 Alaska sailing - it will be my 50th birthday that week. My sister, all four of her daughters, my sister-in-law and my dad. (My brother said his wife was interested; he didn't say he was - so I booked her and am waiting for his response about this). Two verandah and 2 inside cabins on the 6th deck, aft, starboard.

My 3rd niece, Karen (who's been on all 3 of my prior sailings), and I are scheduled for the April 2010 Eastbound Transatlantic, immediately followed by the April 24 11-night Mediterranean. We figured we were already there, so that the airfare could do double-duty. We had already switched from the WB to avoid arriving in Barcelona exhausted after an overnight flight before the cruise. Now, she just has to make sure she's keeping up with schoolwork and get her junior-year research paper completed before its December deadline (and DCL payment date), so I can breathe a sigh of relief that we are really going.

...And the Dream itineraries come out on the 29th - I don't think I can get one fitted in between PC and Alaska - or can I? That is 4 1/2 months. I don't know how Woody73 does it. Maybe never is at home, living on a Disney ship.

My sister, younger 2 daughters and I did the Free Dining offer in mid September - I definitely would not have eaten so many big dinners if we had been paying. Maybe free dining is not such a great thing!

...I'm still a stay at home daughter, however, it's now just dad and me, since mother made a quick downturn and passed away in May, nine days with hospice at home, during which time she was pretty much unconscious. The MD said it was probably a urinary tract infection (she had early Alzheimers) although she denied any related problems. I don't think she was in pain, so it was easier to handle. My brother and sister-in-law had just visited for a week and returned home to Boston the day that she got sick.

For the first time in 19 years, my dad went on an overnight road trip (he's 80 yo); we traveled to Louisville, KY, for a car show. He's got arthritic joints and will be miserable at home or on the road, so it's to the road (and ocean) for us.

I can't believe they let us keep our thread open. That was a great cruise with all of you last year. It really does change the experience to have more than just your own family with whom to share the fun.

WOW Lynne you have some wonderful cruises booked, but I am sorry to hear you have switched from the WB Transatlantic as we are going on that one, but I suppose it makes sense with the jet lag and everything.

So sorry to hear the news about your Mum :hug::hug:

Lynne, so sorry to hear about your mother. My condolences to you all. My father passed away in February and had much the same problem your mom had but the nursing home he was in for the 4 days didn't catch it and turned sepsis. So I totally understand what you are talking about.

I pulled out my Halloween box with front porch decorations in it. Came across the girls ToT bags from the cruise and some fun little goodies from that and the FE exchange! It was like Christmas pulling it all out!! What a fun cruise!!

So good to hear from others on how things are going!! Do try to keep in touch with some on Facebook and others through email.

I'm juggling threads for three cruises - I leave for the EB TA & 11-night Med in less than 100 days. But I haven't forgotten the crew that got me hooked on cruising with DISboarders!

You can keep track if the baby's growth in Jenn's signature bar. Just find any old post of her's and it will be there.

HI Amy

Which cruise are you on? I can't help with the logo as I am not very good with stuff like that.

Great news about Jenn and Nelson isn't it .... I keep up with them on Facebook and I was so happy for them when I got the news :hug:
