October 25, 2008 Halloween on the High Seas (2)

Hey, Sandra, if you're "missing" packing for kids you're welcome to drive down here and pack for mine! Teeheehee :rotfl:

The girls and my babysitter assembled our FE gifts last night, so those are DUN too! Now, just one costume left to make-I've got time, right?

Never look back, dahlings, it distracts from the now!

Laurel your FE is fantastic. Glad the girls got the gifts all taken care of last night. My girlfriend has been helping me with the last of my FE's since kind of got a late start and wanted to make some things. Its been fun and therapeutic getting out all the Disney scrapbooking supplies. :yay: Didn't realize that between the two of us we could open a store no less.

As far as packing, hey I might just take you up on your plea for help. I kind of have my hands full with my DH. He is on a plane to LA tomorrow a.m. and back Thurs. night. :laundy: No time for washing of socks so I had him buy more at costco today. LOL

So it will be me and the dogs for the next three nights and I will spend time packing for myself. :cheer2: I have read all the handy tips and am better prepared this trip. Or at least I hope so.

Looking forward to our meet 3 pm saturday.

Everyone have a good week everyone. Five more days and we're outta here.

Sandra

Thanks for all your kind words on the FE! The girls like it too, that's the main thing. Need to finish up one costume and do the DIS t-shirts.

Wait--WHO ON EARTH is only bringing three pairs of shoes? Please be sure to NOT tell my husband, okay? Even my daughters are sitting at four pairs each (one dressy, one go with all, one water/hiking shoe, one tenny and one glitzy thong for the pool)...oops, that's five each. Just for them...OMG...

For suitcases, I did confirm that our two FC ressies give us four 'free' checked bags. WOOHOO! My DH says I can take the FC seat and the girls can trade off. He's so sweet! I know I shouldn't take him up on it but I just may...it can be my paycheck for all the planning!

So, I'm planning on our giant cruise hard sided case for all the fragile stuff, plus the two giant Land's End duffels, plus possibly a medium size bag just for hanging items. It's gonna be close!

Now...off to relax for a few minutes with my DH! Good night all! I can't believe it's the last week!

My hubby will be dressed up for both Halloween and Pirate night - as will friends of ours who will be dining with us (early seating). But hear your fears - I've been dreading him - for that matter us! - being dressed up and no one else!

Valerie

I suggested we go with the steeler jerseys and paint the gold/black face, i got overruled and she picked a mardi gras theme ?? wt ? oh well....hope others are dressed too ugh

You've got it correct. Free soda on deck 9 and at meals; charge for drinks delivered to your room (I think they are canned/bottled).

And they do want you to use a new cup each time; no refilling and saving the landfills.

I'm thinking of taking something large enough to hold a beverage when I go to the theater for movies; not necessarily insulated, maybe a plastic cup from Steak-n-shake or a football game.

this was the mug of choice for the 11 Night Cruise for the DISers

especially the DISgreen BUBBA KEG :goodvibes :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1

Thanks for the info about FL tours suzie, called them last night to confirm booking and couldnt find our ressie!!!!!!!!! seems like theve been bought out by a different company,
thanks again,
Helen and Andy

DW reports she has 5 pairs of shoes. Problem is: she packed all 5 pairs. Now, to avoid a barefoot flight down, she's got to find and unpack the pair she'd planned to wear on the way down.

Me- dress, keenes, casual, exercise sneakers. Oh, and I'll need a pair for the way down, too.

:scared1: They are talking snow here!!!!! Too bad we are gonna be in the nice warm weather in 4 days instead of here freezing!:goodvibes :cool1: :rotfl2: :rolleyes1

OOOH!!! Not good but glad you got it straightened out!!! YIKES!! Nothing like being stranded at the airport or your hotel!

EEK! I know Tara has already had snow (two Fridays ago I believe) but it sure was cold enough last night to have snowed! BRRR!! And even I - yes me!! - pulled those covers all the way to my ears last night! All I kept thinking was "Ya' know, in a few days I'll be in my cabin, cursing the pillows (I LOVE my pillow at home!), and sweating my patootie off....eh, I'll take the hot weather!".

3 more days for us!!! Leave on Friday around noon, get there around 2:20 and then the party begins!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hey, Sean! :lmao: Make sure she doesn't pack all her clothes when you leave the ship! Pajama departings are not unheard of!!!

Packing the shoes she's supposed to wear - that's just a sign of a very excited woman about to go on a very much needed cruise with a bunch of incredible people!! Who wouldn't do the same thing!:dance3:

:scared1:  :scared1:  :scared: :scared: :scared1:  :scared1:  I AM NOT READY AND WE LEAVE IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS:scared1:  :scared1:  :scared: :scared: :scared1:  :scared1:  . So what am I doing? Sittin here with a cup of tea :surfweb: reading the boards like I don't have a thing to do. How do you people pack a full week ahead???????????

Okay Val, breathe...in through your nose..1...2...3...4...5... hold...out through your mouth 1...2...3...4...5... Picture your happy place..... and in through your nose 1...

Okay, panic subsided. Glad I checked in yesterday though - saw about FL Tours - cancelled them and booked Happy Limo. I should have listened to you in the beginning Suzie :worship: .

Okay, back to THE List ... the one that still has way too many things on it than it should :rolleyes1 . And I take full responsibility...I am an admitted procrastinator. Wouldn't be me if I wasn't running around like the proverbial chicken with it's head cut off... (Besides - got to get moving - need to have it done so I can check in on chat tonight!! - not to mention needing to go to the airport in the morning :rotfl: )

I'm still watching the tropics for us. There is still that pesky area (now dubbed "Invest 91-L") in the northwestern Caribbean, which is hopefully the only thing we'll need to watch leading up to the cruise. Again, I'm no meteorolgist, but the models seem to show it first going over the Yucatan peninsula, then either keeps going away from our cruise (is it sad that I'm not as concerned about where it goes as long as it doesn't affect our cruise??), or it heads towards FL and comes through FL around Friday. If it does that, it may or may not be a tropical storm (versus just tropical in nature, which is just wet with some wind, a non-event). I'm not even going to guess what it will be, but since I assume pretty much everyone will be in FL by/on Friday, you might want to consider packing an umbrella or something.

Just remember - there's no guarantee this will turn out to be anything. I'm just sharing what I know.

Oh, Jenn! Just saw about the Sox......so sorry!!!:sad2:

Thanks Suzie. It's a bummer. Sadly I think that the Boston reign (Patriots, Sox) may be coming to an end (Luckily we still have the Celtics). It is ok though, it was fun while it lasted and I am a fan to the end, so I can handle it. Nelson, though ~ eh, not so much. He is pretty pissed!

It is funny though, now we are do the "well at least"'s...

Well, at least the Yankees didn't even make the post-season...
Well, at least Manny won't get a ring either way (since the Dodgers lost too and he would have got a ring if the Sox won)...
Well, at least it's Tampa Bay (who has never made it to a World Series (I think) and deserves to be there (they are a GOOD team)....

Anyway, We will be good American League fans and root for Tampa Bay!

Guess what? Yup... got nothing accomplished this weekend... Football games, baptisms, work, birthday parties... . Am going to do the FE stuff tonight and ship my box down Priority Mail.... I am at work in jeans and a sweatshirt b/c I have not done laundry.... :scared:

OK - weird question. Is anyone on this trip a CM consultant? I am thinking that I may want to finally go through my digital photos and organize etc on this trip. I was at an event this past weekend and liked their memory manager software, but no one had it in stock.

And do I want to wait until i get back - of course not! I don't have that kind of patience.

So I thought I would check in here just in case.:wizard:

And yes - we leave in four days!!!!:yay: :yay: :yay:

Woohoo the Rays are going to the Series! (sorry Jenn, but DH is also a Red Sox fan)

We made a last minute dash to Walmart for trip essentials and Halloween candy for my parents to hand out while we're gone.

I just have my t shirts to iron on and my magnets to print off, plus DH's stuff to stuff into the luggage. Then we'll drag all the suitcases out to the garage so we can forget about them until Saturday morning (ok, Friday night we'll load the cars).

Our packing is almost done. I just have to stop by the bank to get some dollar bills for room service tips.

Byeeee everyone...just leaving for London now :dance3: We fly out tomorrow morning. Have managed to reduce our luggage from 7 cases to 6 :rolleyes1 Never had so much before but it is for 3 weeks!!!

Looking forward to meeting you all on Saturday pirate:    :cheer2:

Ok - we have just decided to take a car service instead of renting a car on the saturday we get into Port. Does anyone have a recommendation?

Thanks!!
