October 25, 2008 Halloween on the High Seas (2)

Hey Everyone,
your newest pirate-mama is back. I had to go to work (I am a flight attendant) so I was up in the air, looking down at the ocean, imagining that I was already there!!! Thanks again to all for a wonderful and warm welcome. I just read over the last couple days and wanted to make a few comments,
Jenn, My husband and I have been fostering/adopting for the past 13 years. I am a great resource if you want to hear the "good, the bad and the ugly" about the System. The ugly is mostly the SYSTEM. But we can let that stop you from helping and perhaps providing a "forever" home for a child. One of the reasons that we were so late booking is that we have a foster daughter (2yrs. on Oct 3) that we wanted to take with us. We had to finally make the dificult decision to leave her with some close friends that she is comfortable with...sigh
In the different "volunteer" groups that I have been involved with, one of the ways that we say "thank you" to the people that organize and dare I say take on responsiblities that for different reasons many of us will not or unable to take on, is to ask participants to make a small/optional donation (ex-$2. per kiddo or $5./family) The $$$ collected are then used to buy a "thank you gift) What do y'all think of that...NOT, the people who have tirelessly organized, updated list after list--but the ones like my family who were graciously included? The $$$ collected can be split evenly, put in the shipboard accounts, where they can be spent on main-pedi, wine (not Whine),or a nice souvenir, whatever the recepient feels they need (well, maybe a good whine is needed now and then-harhar) How does that sound to all the non-organizers out there? Do not be afraid to speak up, we are not on the ship yet so I can not make anyone walk the plank. All the little donations can add up quickly to a fair size booty...
The newest pirate mom, Frances (I have found a sword err make that forum and I am not afraid to use it!)

OMG Suzie!!! Poor you! And poor Ameera's tummy. But must admit, I'm :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: . Will give my hubby his due, though - just told him and all he did was :scared1: - not even a snicker! I guess he remembers though sleepless nights with Alex less fondly than I do !! But I so remember those days - let them have a nap, up late or up early. No nap - falling asleep in their plates, and then over tired so up late, or early, or middle of night! Don't worry - voice of experience here telling you she will grow out of it. Or at least get to the stage that you don't need to be up when they are  . Too bad chat is not tonight - you won't be able to sleep anyway with Ameera probably doing a little of this  some of this :cheer2: and a bit of :cool1: !!

As for QOTD - last time we spent sailaway in the middle of all the action on deck 9. Would probably go between there and deck 10 this time - there is something magical about watching her sailaway! And that horn will probably make me tear up again, sap that I am!

Valerie

(PS: Sorry for teasing you about Ameera - but couldn't resist! Told you about Alex sitting on the bed at 5:30 a.m. saying "Sing me a song, mommy!", so can definitely relate. Repeat after me.."She will outgrow this! She will outgrow this!")

Also, someone asked if an excursion/spa/Palo list was being kept. Was that you Letsgosteelers that asked?

Anyway, the answer is yes... I am keeping that list as well... :upsidedow PM me with any excursions/spa treatments/Palo reservations (additions. changes, or new) that you have (that goes for everybody else to) and I will add them. I cannot remember off the top of my head where the list can be found, but I know there is a link to it on the first page!

Ahhh... speaking of links.... were we able to get a link to the pets page on the first page? I cannot remember... I am a little young for my mind to be going, but it goes nonetheless!!! :confused3 ;)

Suzie - I am so sorry! Your DD sounds like as much trouble as my DS! They will probably hit it right off!

I actually let my DS have a few chocolate covered espresso beans once during the day. He had maybe 2 or 3 and it didn't keep him up but man did it change his poop!

For your sake I hope she didn't eat too many!

When we made our cruise reservations over a year ago (how can it be that long ago?? ), the early seating for dinner was already full, so they put us on the waiting list for the early seating, but after several months, I gave up hoping and just started preparing myself for the late seating again. I went in to look at some details on our reservation online this morning, and noticed that we had the main seating. My brain kept kicking me, telling me that isn't the late seating that I know we're at because the early seating is full. A quick call to DCL confirmed it - we're now in the early seating! :cheer2: I know, not a big deal, but it's still a nice change for us, since DD eats early and goes to bed early (notice I didn't say goes to sleep early...she used to, I swear; I don't know what has happened for the last few months). Anyway, this fits our usual schedule and the in-law's usual schedule, so I think we'll be happier. I did like seeing the show before dinner in case DD had a meltdown later on (I'd rather miss part of dinner than part of the show!), but I think we'll be happier sticking closer to our usual routine. So, a bit of Disney magic has already come our way! pixiedust:

I can't believe it's October already, and it's almost time to get on the boat! We are so ready to go! :woohoo:

Do you hear it???? Listen......keep listening.....shhhh.......

Nope, neither do I! 3 out of 4 in my house asleep and all is quiet as a church mouse! I can actually hear a fly (gross I know) bumping into the mirror!! Why can't it be chat night tonight?!

Oh well.....night all! Might as well....

Where will be when we set sail? We are usually up on Deck 10 for the party. But, in the past, it is usually pretty crowded up there too! We do like to be towards the front of the ship when we are coming out of port. Sometimes our friends are at the resturant/bar "Fish Lips" and have seen us off. It is fun to know they are there and wave to them. When we have the video camera we can zoom in and find them.

And, when the horn blows it is just a warm and fuzzy feeling, and yes, I tear up too. It just makes a person feel really happy. In fact, my DH has the ships horn sound for his ring on his cell phone. :rotfl: Makes us smile everytime it rings.

And, we have late seat for dining. We can all wave to each other. Won't the staff be wondering what all the waiving is about!!!

Suzie - best of luck for some sleep tonight. I don't envy you those days. But then again, my baby is 12 and time has just flown by. Trust me, some day you will want those days back again. I know not right now, but someday.........

We have late dining also along with Rob and Missy. LOVE late dining! Little extra time to enjoy the ship the last morning.:lovestruc

Someone told me they were going to AKL after the cruise.. who was it?! Im freaking out I need to figure out how to get 6 people and 6 bags from the port to AKL when we get back Nov 1st.

Then on the 2nd we fly home late afternoon via the Sanford airport.

I looked at a 2 day rental that would hold 6 people and 6 suit cases, picking up at port canaveral and dropping off at sanford air port and it was over 600 bucks! :confused3

Any ideas that wont brak the bank?

Wait for us Sarah!!!!!! we are still in double digits:yay: are we there yet?
Think we need a bigger suitcase:scared1:Helen and Andy

Good Morning, everyone! (and yes, we had good sleep last night despite the CEBI [chocolate espresso bean incident]!)

Today's question of the day is to try to get to know others a bit better....sorta...

QOTD:

What kind of vehicle do you drive and at what age did you get your drivers license?

I drive a burgundy Chevrolet Suburban (1999 edition) with my gorgeous MICKEY trailer hitch from a wonderful friend.....Stefanie!....and my Disney family stickers in the back window. Oh, and of course, my Penn State license plate on the front and my Mickey antenna topper! WHOOHOO!!!

We also have a Chrysler Concorde and Ed's Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle. Got rid of our pickup a few years ago.....only two drivers in the household and 4 vehicles! LOL! Not necessary.....

I got my driver's license at 16. I could have gotten it at 15 and 8 months but I wanted to wait for my then boyfriend to reach age to get his....stupid me.

We are dancing too! Guess what came in yesterday's mail?

YUP! Our Docs!!!

Suzie, is it weird that you and Ameera were one of the first things I thought about when I woke up this morning? I was like... "Oh, poor Suzie... I wonder if Ameera ever got to sleep?" Nelson was like... "huh, wha??? ~ mumble mumble, never should've shown you those *expletive* disboards.. go back to sleep. grumble, grumble... snore...zzzzz"

QOTD:

Nelson and I have 2 2004 Saturn ION III's... a reddish/burgundy one and a grey one.... We really like them!

I got my license at 17 ~ I did not want it... at the time I had a 22 :scared1: year old boyfriend who brought me wherever I needed to go.... pirate:

QOTD
Started to drive when I was 22 passed the test first time

I was wondering how you slept last night Suzie...Glad it was good!!!

QOTD:

What kind of vehicle do you drive and at what age did you get your drivers license?

I drive a black Saab 9-3 and my DH drives a black BMW. I got my permit as soon as I could - 16 and my license on my 17th birthday.

QOTD : We have a silver Vauxhall Zafira - 7 seater - not very glam but in transporting 4 kids I'm afraid size IS important! We have a pirates of the caribbean arial topper and I plan to buy a few more when in WDW!

I passed my test on the 3rd attempt when I was in my late 20s.

I just parked my old volvo that had 17 alert lights on that would never go out..! Just bought a navy blue Saab with 117k miles on it,:scared1: I love it, turbo...
DH works for Chrysler and has been trying to get me to buy a Chyrsler for 15 years!!! I can't, I won't....
I was driving before the license....:hippie: haven't told the kids that one...:lmao:
I was living in Florida at the time, was driving at 16:eek:
