October 25, 2008 Halloween on the High Seas (2)

DIS meet on embarkation day: Yes!

2010: looking a little pricey. And, most importantly: DW reminds what is scheduled to happen in 2011- new ship! Looks like we'll be saving our money for that.

On the last cruise we were on, they kept a list of the excursions and who was doing what. Just curious if anyone has done that for this trip..

We were planning on doing Xcaret in Cozumel and in the other stop (can't remember what it is now since they changed Costa maya) was wondering what others were doing because I remember the time being really shortended and I think we have to tender further eating into the time we have there.

Jen, you mention being able to check your shipboard credits now that you have received your confirmation. I received ours, but I didn't see it listed. I should have $200 in each cabin due to rebooking while onboard.

Can anyone tell me where I can check this?

<snip>

Thanks!!!!

Lisa :)

Hi Lisa ... There will be a slip of paper waiting for you in your stateroom, showing that you have indeed received the shipboard credit from DCL. I do not know anything about shipboard credits outside of the ones DCL offers as an incentive to get you to rebook your next cruise while still onboard -- so don't know how to confirm those ahead of time. I just know that I have read here on the boards over and over again that it's just about impossible to confirm DCL's shipboard credit in advance, but people do report that the credit is always there as it should be. Which is what happened to us last year: I never bothered to try to confirm it in advance, based on what I'd read on these boards, but our credit was against our account, as it should have been :)

HTH!

Okay,
Thanks for everyone's continues patience-late and a nebie on forums-what an attactive combination!!! I have signed up -with Michelle-the dd's for tot-my volunteer job will be whatever she wants me to do -harhar-. Sent request into Sarah to be put on a list (hey any list) for FE. Sent message to Janice to be added to roll call-I guess anyone who has read my 10 posts in a row now knows I am coming- I might be the first one they make "walk the plank" just out of the annoyance factor-hr-har-still practising my pirate laugh. Do I have everything covered-do I need to send more pirate messages???
I do not know my room assignment yet-I believe we have the late dinner. I will try to change that to the earlier seating. Thanks y'all for your graciousness...Frances

Frances, welcome!!!!

I hope you find out your stateroom # soon, as of course that's very important for fish extender goodies -- we have to know how to find you! :-)

This is my third Disney cruise and I can speak with experience that the Fish Extender tradition is one of the best and nicest examples of generosity around. Personally, I always bring enough for everyone. On the first cruise I was on, the 11-night Southern Caribbean back in 06, I was astounded at the generosity of the experienced cruisers and how they welcomed and included my girlfriend and I, two latecomers to the cruise who had never cruised DCL before and only found these boards shortly before the cruise. We were welcomed to the group events, our fish extenders overflowed with goodies, we received a lot of valuable advice and tips, etc etc etc. I NEVER forgot it. The folks here on the DISboards are among the warmest and nicest people I've ever encountered online (and in person!) :)

The folks here on our cruise who have taken on the monumental (and often thankless, so THANKS!!! to those who organize!) task of arranging and organizing the group activities have broken down the fish extender list into groups, which I think is a nifty idea. But, I know for me, it doesn't preclude giving FE gifts to all those who have them (there is a master list as well as individual group lists.....). Each of us will do what we think is right and works for our own family :)

I'm glad your family is able to join us on this halloween cruise. My hubby and I were on last year's halloween cruise and it was MAGICAL. ;) This year, we are travelling as a group of adults; there are 5 of us, in two adjoining staterooms (it's a family cruise to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary). My sister-in-law and her hubby have never cruised before and are soooooo excited to be doing this!!! It may be my anniversary but I am so happy for them! :)

Looking forward to meeting you and your family!

I had a credit from booking with an online agency; I had confirmation mail clipped in my fish sometime the first day (I think)

Frances - welcome! This is Sarah, the Keeper of the Code (ok, the Fish Extender List) and I am here to tell you that you have been added to Group 4 of the Fish Extender Exchange! You will shortly receive a pirate message with your group and your group members will have their lists updated to include your family. You can also access the groups on Post 1 of this wonderful thread!

Jenn - sorry your results were inconclusive. I also spent some time in the gynae yesterday and my very nice consultant now wants me to have a cystoscopy and a urodynamics study :scared1: I have also been started on some new medication which will hopefully settle things down a bit - can take 3 weeks to work though. Still in the dark about the cause of my symptoms but hopefully a step further on.

And DCL is coming to the UK - I would love to cruise the med with DCL - and the added bonus of no long flights to include in the cost. I hope there is an itinerary with Venice on it. I can't commit though as with the kids going to university in the next few years we won't be able to make any plans re. holidays.

So here I am with a little Pookie at 4:55 am that is lovingly calling for "Dah-yee" and won't go back to sleep......ick.

Okay, might as well do QOTD:

What, if anything, will you miss while you are on the cruise/extended vacation?

This sounds terrible, because I didn't think I'd really miss anything but I will miss my DVR and recordings. Hard on the ship because they don't get our tv stations, etc. for our shows. Yes, I know that they will be here when I get back (oh, vey!) but stilll........petty, I know.

The other thing I'll miss (and really miss after the cruise!) is chat nights. The anticipation on Monday, Thursday and Saturday....who's going to be on, what will be the "topic" and what's going on in who's life at the time! Will be nice on the cruise to see and talk but the afterward is going to be killer - talk about withdrawls......

Okay, gotta try to get this one back to bed.....mommy needs her beauty sleep and lots of it!!!

**Gee, I actually can say Morning in real time to our overseas friends! Hi Jackie, Hi Sarah!!!!

Okay, might as well do QOTD:

What, if anything, will you miss while you are on the cruise/extended vacation?

I am so going to miss my babies... :cat: :cat:  My Moush and my Oola.... I really do not know what I am going to do without them for 15 nights... I am so worried about them missing us.... and them wondering if we are coming back to them or not.... my mom will be there to feed them every day but it is not the same.... How am I going to wake up without 8 lbs of MaineCoon standing on my chest licking my nose? :confused3

I really am quite emotional about the whole thing ! I dont know why... I can only guess that it has something to do with the crap my body is putting me through.... they really ARE my babies... :sad1: WOW! looks like jenns brave facade is cracking... :sad2:

Jenn - just wanted to give you a great big  it is very difficult to go through what you are going through and maintain a brave face at all times - and it is totally normal for you to feel emotional and for that facade to crack at times too.

Suzie - hope you managed to catch up with your beauty sleep in the end! I was actually in bed when you posted as I worked nights last night. I have just woken up, so "Good Morning" again!

I am have 2 QOTD to answer

1. I am definitely going to make it to the DIS meet at 3pm in the Promenade Lounge - I am really really looking forward to meeting you all!

2. What will I miss - well I will miss absolutely NOTHING about the UK - especially not the weather! I will miss my Mum, as it is the first time I have been away on holiday since we lost Dad last February and I will worry about her - but she has my sister nearby so she should be fine.

No of course, I didn't. She kept me up till almost 7 which is when Tori has to get up for school. My neighbor graciously took her to the bus stop with her kids and offered to do tomorrow. She's so nice!! She knows I hate mornings and how hard it is to get both of them and myself ready in the mornings.

On the other hand, I am awake and will try to nap with Ameera later (in my bed...grrrr...but we both need sleep!) and am getting lots done today already! Ameera is cooperating and letting me work, is more like it! Having Tea with her babies and Baby Leap - it's really precious. She's been trying to sing ABC's to them - I can hear the tune but not understand the words.

Anyway, it seems to be a better day, so definitely GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!

Now if I could get caught up and do the rest of the laundry, life would be EXCELLENT.

Have a great day everyone!

I am having a really hard time keeping up with this thread now! And I still haven't had time to get in for chat. I really hope I can make it Thursday.

For the questions: We hope to make the DIS meet. I haven't discussed with anyone yet though!

I will not miss anything but my dog. And I feel bad for my oldest DD. She's in First Grade and every year they celebrate Halloween at her school and now 2 years in a row she has missed it. At least this year her Kinder aged sister will feel bad with her!

We leave in 2 weeks tomorrow! :dance3:

What will we miss the most while on the cruise: Max. But, we know that there will be family that he knows with him.

In the spirit of the QOD: :worship:

The special, little, us tradition/thing that makes us smile: being together, on our verandah, on embarkation day, after we've returned to the room from Sailaway. The last 2 cruises, we've gone out there for a few minutes, just to take it all in, relax, and smile. On our first cruise, we saw the PC harbor pilot debarking the ship just below and forward of us. Think we saw him last time, too.

We got our docs yesterday -- along with luggage tags and a totally surprising & unexpected cabin credit!!!

What I will miss: My shows. :happytv:

In a typical week I watch: Amazing Race, Desperate Housewives, How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory, 90210, Biggest Loser, Law & Order: SVU, Lipstick Jungle, Dirty Sexy Money and Survivor.

If -- at any time during the cruise --- anyone would like to discuss ANY of the above shows, PLEASE don't hesitate to come find me. :cutie:

I have to ask if it's just my IL's or what.....

Ameera turns two on Thursday. She got two big flat envelopes from UPS today. As soon as I saw the return address I knew. Okay. Open them. Sure enough, gift certificates from my SIL/BIL and my MIL for Ameera. $50 each for American Girl.

Okay, really nice, but SHE'S ONLY TWO! She already has (and loves!) Bitty Baby. She doesn't change her clothes (barely knows how to put her own on!) so getting another outfit for Bitty is non-sensical.

What the heck do I do now? This is just such an unrealistic gift for her and the certs. have to be used within a year.

Some of you know my Webkinz thing. She got one for her 1st Christmas...Um, she was only 2 1/2 months old! The girl has/had three of them! See, unrealistic....nice but unrealistic!

Are my IL's the only ones that do stuff like this????

Okay, now to make the "Thank you very much" phone call.....:sad2:

Oh, Shoshie! A fellow tv lover! I do watch a lot of the same shows. How I met you mother, Big bang theory (love Sheldon!), 90210...

We will HAVE to talk!:rotfl2:

I was under the impression that it was illegal for gift certs to have an expiration date (I bet you were hoping I would say that it was ilegal to buy stupid gifts for children huh? :lmao: ). Maybe this is just in MA?

Suzie, if you need to use them, just buy a doll and put it away for her... or (since she will probably never know the difference) maybe there is a little girl in your church that cannot afford such a nice doll and you can give that to her! :goodvibes You can tell Ameera all about her good works later in life! ;)

Shosie, what was DCL's reason for the cabin credit... any reason is, of course, a good reason ~ I am just curious if I fall into the same category...
