My family (me, DH, DD11, DD7) returned home from our 7 night Eastern cruise aboard the Disney Magic Sunday night. Prior to leaving, I looked on the boards daily, but thought most of the trip reports were a little too detailed for my taste. After going on a Disney Cruise, however, I completely understand why so many people want to share every detail-because every detail is so great.
We upgraded at port from a Category 11 to a large porthole room on the 5th for $300. We really enjoyed having the view of the ocean and being on the 5th floor near the Oceaneer Club/Lab and on a middle floor with easy access to other floors on the ship.
After settling into our room, we went to visit the kids' clubs. On our way to Ocean Quest, I stopped at Guest Services to drop off our pillow case for character signatures. While there, my DD7 and I visited with Rahmad. We chatted about our family and his. Then, after dinner on our first night we received a letter in our cabin indicating that we had been chosen as the Magical Family of the Week. Rahmad was the Magical Family Host.
My DH thought that everyone probably got a letter like this, but I told him that I thought I would have seen something on the Disboards if that was the case. Well, he was wrong.
Everyday we received one or two personal letters telling us about the happenings around the ship that Rahmad thought would interest us. We also received a plate of food from room service every afternoon (cheese plate, cookies, desserts, chips & dips, fruit, etc.) This was especially nice after getting back on the ship from the islands and having a snack waiting for us.
Rahad also gave us tickets to Tea with Alice and the Galley Tour. Our girls each received arcade cards and stuffed animals. We were also given tickets for the Castaway Cay snorkel, raft, and bike package. It was truly magical. I can't say enough about how wonderful Rahmad and the rest of the CMs were.
We would have had a fabulous time even if we had not been chosen as the Magical Family of the week, but it really made us feel special!
The beaches at St. Martaan/St. Martin were incredible. I especially liked Le Gallion Baie, which we basically had to ourselves. It was a perfect place for the kids to swim and snorkel without the worry of big wages taking them out to sea. However, the rest of my family liked Orient Beach best-the kids for the big waves and my husband for the scenery!
On St. Thomas we went on a tour with Sunny Liston, and he was a lot of fun. The tour was a nice mix of shopping, site seeing and beachtime.
Those are some of the highlights of our trip. I can't wait to return again!
