OCTOBER 23RD 2005 - 4-Day Wonder - 102305 - 10232005 - 20051023

Great pictures Fantasmiclush. After looking at the ones of the ocean waves, I now understand why I felt like I did on Monday.

Keef22 - Great pictures also. Especially the one of your family in the chair at Atlantis (hehe).

Hi Everyone! Just catching up on the boards. Enjoyed all the new pictures posted by keef22 and fantascmiclush. Great to have meet you and your family keef22. I'll keep checking back for the tag. My DD7 said "On my next cruise I want to go for seven days!" Can't say I blame her! Cathy

Funny, that's the same thing DS4 said...and my wife and I had the same reaction.

It should be noted that during our cruise, we had some really rough weather. At one point, the captain said that they had recorded wind speeds of 75 Miles Per Hour (65 knots) across the deck!!

Castaway recorded speeds of 90 miles per hour!

Posted a few pictures:

What a wonderful vacation. The first night I was a little woozy. We sat down at Parrot Cay for dinner and were at a huge table full of couples who weren't talking to each other which made me feel even more uncomfortable. We ended up leaving and they brought us dinner to our stateroom. By morning, I was doing a lot better. We requested a smaller table -- and got it immediately. We sat alone for the remainder of the cruise which I liked a great deal. I would've been very happy with one or two other couples or a small family, though. It was just really awkward being at a table with people who only talked to the person on his/her side. It turned out that *everyone* felt it was awkward. By the end of the cruise, every couple who remained sat alone. I guess there were quite a few honeymooners all together.

The rest of the cruise was perfect. We loved that the adult pool was almost always empty -- or near empty -- especially at night when we love to swim. It was so relaxing. We knew there were many, many passengers, but we never felt crowded.

Palo was wonderful. So good. And did anyone else see that lone stingray swimming up the family beach -- which turned out to be the quieter, more 'serene' beach? I hope he got to a place he could eat.

Hi all! It was great to meet all of you we did. Been on this thread twice to quickly read the posts. Let life get in the way since returning from FL so just getting around to posting now. That and I was recovering from feeling a total mind/body disconnect and some dizziness for at least a week. Felt like a bad hangover without the nausea or headache. (There is a reason I don't get drunk like in my younger days. That feels awful!) Don't remember feeling that bad after other cruises. Weird.

Enjoyed all of your photos. Especially the wave action on Monday. Everyones pics made me realize I missed out on some great shots again this time.

KristenCheeks: great perspective on your pics.

seegee/Cathy: I want a 7 day too! Just have to talk DH into it.

lissisuarez: we were the "other" family dressed up for pirate night, all 5 of us including Grandma and Grandpa. What a great party DCL!

keef22: Our DD was in the Mickey Pool for the hard left turn too. She was having a great time in there with the wave action and wanted back in even after they closed it for saftey.
Did Ian take those pics of himself or did you? That man is crazy in a good way.

Will await the posting of the dis sign.

I need some warmer weather, again...........

Gayle,

We were in line for the formal pic with Mickey and Ian was standing there. I asked that he take a picture with our camera (along with the one that I was pretty sure we'd end up buying from Shutters, anyway) and he says in a very quiet voice and with his Aussie accent "Sure...Does this have a 'delete' button?" I said yes. Then he asked if I minded if he take a couple of strange shots just for fun; and I agreed. Who am I to turn down the craziest (yes, in a good way :earboy2: ) person on the ship?

So he turns around and says out loud "Sure, I'll take one of you. How do you operate this thing!" ...and he clicks those two pictures off. DS4 was puzzled at this. "Daddy, what's he doing?" I assured him that Ian was just playing and we went on to have our pics taken. Ian gave us the camera back and I showed DS4 the pictures. "Daddy, take one like that of me!" Hence the extreme close up pictures of DS4...

Ian is one of those people that, I believe, personifies the real magic of everything Disney. He has a magnetic personality and he's willing to make a fool out of himself so that everyone can have a good time :jester: . It's obvious to me that when he's on the job, he's ON. Here's where he showed me that he was really worth his salt. He happened to be the one who was organizing our excursion in Nassau (the early Discover Atlantis). While there was a LARGE group going, he was able to get everyone registered and tags to all groups in a VERY short amount of time. The fact that he knows when to have fun and can also switch back to business or blend fun with business makes him the perfect person for the job that he has. I hope he's rewarded for a job well done. (Although, I have to think that his reward is not just compensation; but the smiles and thanks of the people with whom he comes in contact :teeth: :teeth: :teeth: :teeth: :teeth: .)

He's one of two that I mentioned on our end of cruise survey as being a special part of the crew.

The other was our assistant server, Dee from Thailand. Don't get me wrong, our server was great. Everything was correct and timely and professionaly done; but Dee took the time to stop and build a relationship with our table. She spent a few minutes every night doing magic tricks and speaking with DS4 and the other family's DD4. She called them by name every time she saw them and was very attentive to them! (If you can't tell, she got a REALLY good tip! :smooth: :smooth: :smooth: :smooth: )

Now I'm sitting at work thinking about how I can get a job that lets me work from a Disney property.... :scratchin

Thanks for posting the pics. I enjoy seeing everyone's pictures so I can see what I missed. I feel like I need to cruise again, just to do whatever I didn't do.

I also felt the after affects of the cruise. For about a week, there were times that when I closed my eyes, i felt pretty unstable. We'll just chalk it up to Wilma and it WILL NOT happen again.

I also mentioned Ian on our cruise survey. We had limited contact with him but when we did it was memorable. Anyone else experiencing Wonder withdrawal?

A very very very happy Thanksgiving to everyone!!!!

Do we have a pic of the DISTag sign yet? :confused3

Hope everyone is well!!

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving celebration.
It was soooo cold and snowy here in Central Pennsylvania yesterday and it was only 7 degrees when I left for work this morning. It's hard to believe it was only a month ago today that we were in warm, sunny Nassau.
I wanna be back on the ship

Henlady :wave2:

It was very very cold in Grand Rapids, MI, too where we celebrated Thanksgiving.

Did I mention that my wife (actually both of us) were given the opportunity to sound the Mickey Whistle from the bridge when we left CC ?

Here's the pic of her doing it:
