October 22, 2005 Roll call

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for all the welcomes!

SCDizneyDawn - We LOVE DVC! We own at BWV and VWL. We bought 100 VWL points while on the Disney Cruise in 10/01. We didn't stay there until this past January, and now I think I like it better than BWV! Those are the only two DVC resorts we've stayed at, but I'm renting points at BCV for a studio in April for myself, my sister, and my 7 year old nephew for spring break. :cool1:

I am SO envious of those of you adding Disney World trips before and/or after this Disney cruise! I can't take that much time off of work at once because I have to do payroll every other week for 60 employees. They would frown upon not getting paid. My next Disney World trip isn't until January.

I'm signing off here to go check the cruise website.

Welcome ReneeQ!

We are also DVCers having points at both Old Key and Vero. Looking forward to seeing everyone in a few weeks. Palo's, the Spa, everything all booked. We will also be celebrating an anniversary on board, 25 years!

Some local friends and fellow DVCers suggested a good place on Grand Cayman for a snorkeling excursion. The prices and experience were very good and better than what was available via the cruise offerings according to them. Do a search for Captain Marvins website for all the information. I can't post the web link due to DIS rules.

Countdown.......... :hourglass

We are doing a Capt Marvins stingray excursion at Grand Cayman ("Half-day" morning). I have been able to post the link before (www.captainmarvins.com) - if the DIS does block it, you can find it on the "Links" page on our cruise website.

This has come up a couple times before on this thread... Are others doing a Capt. Marvin excursion also - do we have a "dis meet" excursion going on? :teeth: :earboy2:

Our group is looking into booking Capt Marvins also :goodvibes ...we booked with them last Sept...but were unable to use them...because we didn't end up going to Grand Caymans.

But were for sure going with Capt. Marvins....just don't know what one as of yet :cool1:

Welcome ReneeQ! I have to agree with Pdarrah, although I have 2 kids, I feel like I am on vacation without them on the ship. They love the kids club, so we barely see them. Yeah, they page us once and a while, but usually they are just hanging out with their new friends and having the time of their lifes.

Timon, thanks for the nice compliment! We think you are wonderful too! By the way, if I haven't told you, I loved your video. That is one of my DDs favorite songs (Where is the Love).

We are too going to be doing Capt. Marvins. I just need to make our reservations.

We too are DVC members. We joined 3 years ago and have stayed only at the BWV so far (our home resort is VB). We have been very pleased with it so far. We chose not to use points for the cruise though.

We have been booked with Capt Marvins for several months now but I think we are on a different one than most of you. We booked the short 2 hour one that leaves at 11:15 am, while I think most of you stated that you were booked/booking the half day like pdarrah mentioned. I liked the shorter one since it gives us a little more time in the morning and gives us time after the excursion to do some shopping and exploring on our own.
But it sounds like you guys are going to have a DIS excursion meet :flower:

Kathy,

Thanks :goodvibes Yeah, I love that song too! Didn't really fit with the theme but oh well, I just love to listen to it :cool1:

We booked our party of 5 for the half-day morning trip as well. If the snorkeling is a fraction as good as it was on St. John's, it will be beautiful. :fish: Sounds like a meeting is in order. :hyper2:

Sorry, I won't be able to join you in the "meet"! We have booked a full day with Native Way, the Rays, Reef, and Rum point tour. I am VERY excited about going to Rum Point, sounds beautiful. This tour also includes lunch at Rum Point. Here is a link if anyone is intrested:Rays, Reef and Rum Point with Native Way

I have already swam with the Rays, so this was a nice comprimise with my family for the beach and swimming with the Rays!

Wow, did not realize so many of us were DVC members!

We won't make the "snorkeling meet" as we're just planning to lay around and relax! I broke my left femur two years ago and can't do things like I used to. But we look forward to the meet on the ship. Is that the only meet planned?

Yes, there seems to be lots of DVC members here! We just love DVC!

Hey, is this new - :maleficen I've not noticed it before.

So far the one meet on the ship the first day....is the only one scheduled (So far) we did all talk about adding more as we got closer to the date...and even making a print out to take with us.

I know last cruise we (DH and myself) had a hard time remembering the other meets we planned. But then again we didn't plan any others until durring the first meet at the pool. Anyway...I think it would be a good idea to try and plan them ahead of time.

:maleficen :maleficen

Hi Scrapperjill - I agree! If we don't schedule them and get them written down, we'll just forget once we are on board.

Any ideas for meets?

On our last cruise, we had a meet the 1st day, a wine-party meet at one families suite (I don't think that would work with just a regular room ...) and one last one that didn't work too well - several of us grown up "princesses" had agreed to wear long gloves and tiaras on formal night and then we tried to setup a meet between the two dinners seatings for a photograph of us all. Most of us wore the outfits, but we found that trying to do a meet between the dining seatings is nearly impossible!

If we come up with anything else, I can add it to the website. Then it is in one place where everyone can either print it from there or cut/paste into their own schedules.

pdarrah

P.S. If anyone is interested in linking dining (Late seating), my post about this is here.

I can't think of any other times or places right now...but I'll keep thinking. I'm sure Jesse and I would be up for meeting for a couple drinks some night ;) We seemed to end up doing that ALOT last time. :rolleyes1

I can't imagine trying to pull off the meet between the dinning times....We had a hard enough time (just the 4 of us) getting photos...and to dinner on time. :goodvibes ...that would be kind of cute...but like you said near impossible to pull off.

:wave2:

Oh...I'm starting to put together a "list" of dis names and real names for the buttons...but so far I've only gotten responces from a couple people...So if your wanting Dis Buttons...I need your dis name, real name and stateroom # ...Just PM the info to me. :teeth:

I've also recieved enough $ for the button supplies (button parts)...but still need photo paper and ink...I'll finish purchasing the supplies when I get all the $$....then I'll start working on the actual buttons themself.

Pdarrah, I agree with you and scrapperjill. We should schedule another meet. Like Scrapperjill, drinks would be good for us too. :drinking1 We can decide closer to the date.

Scrapperjill, I still need to send you the money. Don't worry, it is on its way!!

Hi all!

I did not want to post this with my last post just incase it got overlooked. I have booked a private charter with Captain Marvins for the swim with the Stingrays and have room for 2 more people. The boat fits 25 and we are currently at 23. We are doing the 1/2 day excursion, but instead of the time being from 10:00 - 1:00, we are sailing from 9:00 - 12:00. Everything else is the same, Swim with the Stingrays and 2 snorkel stops as well as juice and bottled water on the boat, oh and the best thing is we are saving about $5.00 per adult. We were really looking forward to doing the 1/2 day tour, but wanted a little more time on Grand Cayman to enjoy the shops or restaurants, so I contacted Captain Marvins and set up a private charter. If anyone is interested in joining us (we would love to have you), please PM me.

Kathy

Scrapperjill,

What kind of ink does your printer use? I ask because I've got some ink at work no one uses. We had 2 printers to die on us and the corporate office replaced them with different kinds. I already had some ink bought and now can't use it, and can't send it back. I think it's HP ink, but can't remember the numbers. I've just hung onto it rather than toss it. I'll try to remember to look at it tomorrow.

And I FINALLY mailed you the check for buttons!

ReneeQ...We use to have an HP Photosmart printer..but this past year we got a new Epson. So...I don't think the HP ink would work. But thanks for the offer. I did find a great deal this weekend on the ink...I figured it wouldn't take a full set of ink cartrages to print the buttons....so I only figured in the cost for 1/2 the price of the ink.

Maybe if we still used the HP printer...your ink would work.. I guess I could always dig the printer out of the garage....but then again...it was on it's last leg when we took it out. :teeth:

American Scrapper....how's that charter going? Did it fill up?

Well Baseball season is over with, not on a great note (they lost their last tournament), but is was fun. They learned alot in the past month and are well on their way to being pretty good players. We had an awesome team of both parents and kids. It is kind of sad to see it end. Now we go into football season. Anthony has never played football (he is playing flag football) so it should be interesting. He did roller hockey not knowing anything and really enjoyed it. No, we are not those crazy people who sign our kids up for everything and anything and make them play. He has asked to do all of this, although his real love is baseball.

Scrapperjill, I am still looking for 2 more people for the Captain Marvins excursion. If anyone is interested, please PM me. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I have booked a private charter and if we fill the boat, adults would save about $5.00 each (maybe a little more) and we are sailing the 1/2 day, but on an adjusted time, from 9:00 - 12:00. I am hoping to get 2 more people.

Hello again everyone.

I introduced myself way back, but I tend to get addicted to the boards and planning the cruise and decided to hold off until we got summer over and school started. Since my kids started school this week (can you believe that?) I guess I am truly allowed to indulge my addiction now.

This is our second Disney Cruise, we did the Eastern in January 2003. Our group consists of me, my DH, DS11 and DD7 at the time of the cruise.

We nearly switched to the Sept. 24th sailing because it would have saved us $1100 (and that with a slight upgrade) but decided to stay with this one because of several factors, mainly that I really want to sail after dry dock and also my dd's 7th bday is that week and my dad is already flying in from Colorado for that. Besides, I waffled for so long that they were sold out by the time I called. Lol.

Also I am happy to kick in for any supplies for buttons... I did badges for everyone last time (and paid for them!) and a lot of people didn't even show up to get them. Scrapperjill, thank you for taking that on.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi... looking forward to sharing the anticipation. Time is getting shorter! :cool1:

MelissaE1...welcome back :goodvibes

I can't beleive it's back to school time already....We still have about 4 weeks (a little less). My oldest dd still has one week at summer camp and one week she's going to her uncles in Kentucky :guilty: (I'm nerious about that one...it's just SOOO far away...Mainly I'm nervious about her getting there and back...so just the travel part). But after she gets back from that week...it'll only be a little over 1/2 week until school starts.

Hi MelissaE1! Welcome back - I can certainly understand addiction to the DISboard :) If you want to be included in the "Who's going" list on our cruise website, just let me know.....

Summer is sure flying fast. We have 3 weeks until school starts. DS6 will be starting first grade and it will be his first experience with the public school (he stayed at his preschool [montessori] through Kindergarden). Tonight he is going to visit one of his Grandma's for a couple days. A week from today we are taking him up to our family cabin in Wisconsin. When we get back, he'll be home for 1 day and then his other Grandparents are taking him back to the cabin! He'll get back 2 days before school starts.

I'm still hoping to arrange with the school to take him in the day before classes start to meet his teacher and see his classroom. I am still astounded that they have NO orientation AT ALL for incoming students (other than Kindergarden). I asked if they at least had some sort of packet of information or anything when I registered him last April and they looked at me like I was crazy! Even more amazing is that with this massive disintrest on their side - they keep having articles in the local paper about how they need more parent involvment in the schools. You would think it would occur to them that this is a two way street. Oh well.... hopefully things will improve.

DIS MEET: a little ways back we were talking about setting up other DIS meets. The idea of meeting for a drink in the evening was proposed. This sounds great, but someone who has actually experienced the various lounges is going to have to propose when and where! We never made it to ANY of them on our last cruise! This was mostly because we had such great DISer tablemates at dinner that we were always the last out of the dining room (usually around 10:30 or a little after!) and then usually kept chatting outside the restaurant or went up to deck 9/10 to walk around together. All too soon, it would be time to pick up DS at the club and get him to bed!

If we set up a DIS meet at one of the lounges, we'll at least make it to one this time! Actually, one of our goals this trip is to get to the lounges and see some of the evening entertainment. Since Grandma & Grandpa will be with us, they will be able to pick up DS at the club occasionally!
