Fingers are crossed for you Nancy - hope you're doing ok:grouphug:

I hadnt even got as far as thnking about currency yet, but now you have me thinking:confused:

What currency will we need for our western stop offs? and roughly how much for a few souveniers and a meal etc?

Something else to add to my list:rotfl:

Happy New Year Everyone! I am now so far behind on this post that I just skimmed through the last few pages and I'll try to keep more up to date from now until we cruise.

Nancy sorry I couldn't wish you well before your appointment but here is a hug :grouphug: and prayers that all went well this morning! When we were in Cozumel in Oct. we payed in American $$ for the few things we bought in the straw markets and that is what we have done in the past too. We have never made real large purchases, I think the most we spent was $20.00 for a "hammock chair" that Al wanted but everyone was fine with bartering in $$ and us paying in $$.

Jeff have a great time on your cruise :boat: Enjoy the warmth and sunshine :beach: Now none of that hoping for really cold temps. for us left here in WI while you're gone. I have really been enjoying our mild winter!

Is this a dumb question?

If we go to Hard Rock in Cozumel can we use American cash?? I won't use my credit card in foreign countries. This seems like such a stupid question but with all the cruise ships that dock in Cozumel maybe they accept american money?????

Signed, Rosie

(Don't pay attention to the screen name...I'm not Nancy :lmao: )

We've been going to Mexico for about 11 or 12 years now (haven't in the since May of 2004 since we've been going to WDW and DCL lateley :thumbsup2 ) and we've always used American $. They are widely accepted down there. Especially if the Peso is weak to the Dollar. Bring a lot of small bills. It makes it easier to barter in the markets. Don't be like me and get them down to a low price and then have to go through your 20's to get to the 5's and 1's. :rolleyes1 What we do now is find what we like, get the initial price, walk away a little (or the one with the money leaves), pull out exactly what you're willing to pay, and then start bargaining. This way if you get to your price, you just pull out the exact amount.

As for using the credit card at the Hard Rock, I wouldn't be worried about using it there. We've even used it in other smaller shops in St. Thomas and St. Maarten, along with different cities in Mexico. Even if they use your number for another unauthorized purchase, your credit card company will reverse it. If anything, call them and tell them what you purchased before you leave the island. If you bring a calling card, only 3.47 cents per minute at Sam's, you could call for about 15:1 minute ratio from Mexico. They may even let you call collect. Right before you get on the ship, call them and tell them what you purchased and let them know you won't be making any more purchases in that city or country. This way they will deny the purchase on the front side.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Cheryl.

I use to wish for cold while I was gone, but that doesn't benefit me any, so it can be whatever while I'm not here. I remember the first time we went to Huatulco, Mexico, it was 0 here and about 92 there (and that was at 9:00 at night when we landed).

Now I just wish for bitter cold up until we leave. Then it feels that much warmer when we get there. But with WI being so warm this winter, it won't feel too hot this trip (but we are going from an avg. of 35-42 to 77-85, so it will be a nice change).

I'm just happy that FL and Cozumel will be warm when we're there. I was concerned when we booked on which way the weather would go this year. I remember some years when artic blast come down all the way into the Caribbean and Cancun/Cozumel only get up to 60 for a high. The last 2 years in January we had comfortable temps, 70's. The week before was always hot, 80-90, and right after we left they got a cold front, highs barely making it into the mid 60's. That would make for a miserable trip.

Nancy - thats fantastic news:banana:

Congratulations. Hope today wasnt too distressing for you.
It must be the time for good news - hubbys best mate got the all clear last week too.:goodvibes

YAY for Nancy!!!!!! :cool1: :cool1:   :dance3: Glad everything is ok!!! :thumbsup2

When we went to the HRC in Cozumel, we payed cash in USD, no problems. Everything is listed as pesos AND USD, you just pay in the currency you prefer. Same as the HRC Grand Cayman, when we got our bill, it was listed as Cayman Island Dollars (KYD) but you can pay US cash or credit card. Just beware the Cayman ISland Dollar...it costs about $1.22 USD for each $1 KYD and it's very expensive to eat there, the MOST expensive HRC I have ever been to by far, and I've been to lots of them!

Great news Nancy!!  I'm so thrilled for ya!!:woohoo:

Thanks Karen Mouse for posting the link.. I guess filling out the amounts of what I eat every day and the amount of exercise makes me feel "accountable"
for my actions (or lack of).

Well Nancy, you haven't seen me in what, over a year? I have put on 25 pounds since that cruise in 05! I probably added 5 on the cruise alone!
I have a rear end that can be in two rooms at one time:rotfl:
I'd like to be able to get into all those cute clothes I have in my closet that I haven't been able to wear in two years!!

Nancy, I cant stop smiling for you !!!!! We are sooooo pleased for you, and your family !!!!!! See I did say didnt I ............ My nans "feelings" ! :)

I cant see Brenda needing to loose any weight???? Remember I only saw you in Oct!

I need to loose a lot too, however I am not really focused at the moment. I am going to try, however I get all upset if I cant do it, and then eat more. So im trying to not set my sights too high, so as not to fall to far.
It doesnt really help that Wayne eats what he wants and stays the same !

Yay Nancy!

I don't know what sparkpeople is but if it helps with weight loss, I'll have to check it out.

I need to lose 25-30 also. Tae-bo is the greatest. I used to do it all the time. Within 3 weeks I noticed my arms being sculpted. It's the only type of excercise I have found that really shapes up the hips and saddlebags.

I'm also doing Tae-bo along with Pilates.

This cruise is going to be full of babes and hunks.

Happy excercising

Robin

I started Atkins again on Sunday and have lost 10lbs since then. 2 years ago I lost 117lbs on Atkins but a car accident caused me to gain back 45 due to no more exercising. I have now been given approval to exercise and I have joined a Martial Arts program. My DD12 is a black belt and my DS5 is a "little ninja" in the program. I hurt the first 2-3 weeks but I now really love it and am seeing some improvement in my arms and my buns.
I hope to lose 70 lbs by October but I will be happy with 50. I don't want to have to buy a new evening dress for the cruise and I will have to unless I lose at least 30.

Great news Nancy

Nancy - great news! :flower3: :goodvibes :)

So hard to believe the holidays are over. We'll be taking down all the decorations this weekend. Seems like only yesterday I was admiring all the photos some of you posted of your holiday decorating.

I too would like to lose about 30 pounds. I just can't seem to bring my self to do it. I need some major motivation! Exercise is a 4 letter word!

Just found out the Teddy Bear and Doll show will be at Epcot the first weekend we're there in May. My DH is not too pleased with this discovery! There's a really cute Steiff Mickey I'd like to get my hands on!

Happy New Year to everyone! Welcome to all new cruisers! :thumbsup2

Thanks so much for all the "well-wishes" and prayers everyone. It paid off this time.

I'm sitting here myself contemplating if I should be on the computer or the exercise bike. Too bad I can't do both.

What's up for the weekend? Chuck turns 50 on Sunday!!! He decided he wanted a soup/chili party (with a little coaxing from moi). Taking a family of 6 adults out to eat somewhere gets a little pricey. Bless his heart, he does not want a cake. Yeah....that should help us stay on our diets.

Well, off to the bike, although I may have to dust it off first.:rotfl:

Have a great weekend all.
