October 20th 2007 Western Magic Part 9

Who's not going the 24th if they don't do Double Dips at all in 2009 (meaning we are either an Eastern or Western only)?

Anyone only wanting to go if it is a DD?

Oops sorry I guess I shouldn't have used abandon, I don't want to upset anyone either. I guess I just thought that people were set on the 24th no matter what the itinerary but I guess that's not the case. I'll go edit my post.

I was thinking the same thing about flying down either in the afternoon or evening of the Fri. With Rach being a Sophmore in high school then the less amount of school she misses the better. We would definitely stay over Sat. night and do MNSSHP then and go home Sun.

I wouldn't use the word "abandon". I don't want people thinking the KK2 is set for the 24th and if they go to a different cruise it is not the KK2. The group should decide what they want. If you and I are on the 24th, we may be breaking from them. I don't want anyone feeling left out. Maybe we'll have to run a dual meets thread if it is on two different dates.

I hear you about the off of school issue. We will probably fly down on the non-stop the Friday NIGHT before the cruise so that we only miss the 3 days, not 4 like we did this year. Now watch, WDW will have MNSSHP on that Friday in '09. :sad2: We can be certain that MNSSHP will be the night we get off the ship, it is Halloween that day. Book your tickets early because it will sell out. Even sold out, there will be no more than 25K-30K in attendance, so that is light in comparison to some days at that park.

She went with Al to the pre-season game a few years ago. She understands the game more now and she said this was way more fun than the other game she went to.

Was that Rachel's first game?

It was a good one. First Viking shut out since 1991.

No. I could be completely wrong on it. I'm not questioning you questioning me. Please don't think that.

We need to go on the 24th because the schools are closed 2 days that week up here in WI, so only 3 days missed.

I'm just looking at what has happened in the past. They may not even do the Double Dips (which then I'm hoping for an Eastern, but will just be happy to be on the ship).

DCL could throw my theory for a loop and do it on the 31st. That wouldn't play out on the calendar for one a month (usually at the end) since it would run into November, but if they go Double Dip on 9/27, then it could happen, but would be 5 weeks instead of 4 in between DD's.

Wish DCL would just put the dates/itineraries out there. :sad2:

I figured that it was a school issue for you. I wish our schools let out for a time during Oct. That would make it nice for us. My son's school gives a week during Feb off. Which is why I was thinking of going in Feb '10.

I would love a DD cruise. That said, I also would love to go with the group again, with older children, so that we can spend more time with you guys. I'm hoping those two coincide.

Yes, all the schools (well, I guess there are a couple that don't) close the last Thursday and Friday of October for our statewide Teachers' Convention (which I dub Teachers' Vacation - funny how all the flights to Vegas are sold out that weekend :scratchin: ). So the kids only miss 3 days if they are gone the whole week.

I would love to have a whole week off like you do. And in February, that would be great. Our only one-week off in spring is always over Easter break and everything is expensive that week.

Our son goes to a private school, so they also have 2 days off in Feb or Mar for curriculum (sp?) days. Wish they'd put that around the time of the other convention. We also have the last Friday of September at our school every year as well. Put those 3 together and we'd have a whole week off. :sad2:

I don't want the group to base it on when some of us from WI are going. If the group wants to do a DD, then we'd be the ones to miss out. :sad1: It may be a hard decision for some (the group or the itinerary). Hopefully DCL will accomodate both. But like I said, what if they don't do any DD's that year. Are some not going to go? :confused3 Just curious.

I'm really wanting to go in Oct with the group. I don't think that the DD will be a deciding factor for me. But... if there was no DD and the KK2 sort of fell apart. (everyone going their own way) Then I might change back to Feb. As it stands now, with the number of us willing to redo the cruise in Oct '09 then I'm in. I'd even do the Western again. I'd do that Pirate encounter that looked like so much fun.

I can tell you right now, barring a special cruise somewhere in 2009, we are sailing 10/24. I think Cheryl is as well. I can't say what the rest will do. If the rest happen to go the 31st, we'll make sure we stop by the check-in line to say hi to everyone (or maybe I'll just stow away in someones suitcase :rotfl: ).

At least you have a future date you can move yours to. 2010 won't be out for about 12-15 months, so you could move to whatever in 2009, and if it does fall apart, just move it to your week in 2010 when the dates come out. You'll have nothing to lose. It isn't like your alternative was summer of 2009.

I think getting the group together again would be great. We all seemed to get along so well. I still have to upload the picture of the KKers at the Adult Pool on Monday afternoon. It was an unplanned meet. I think there was well over a dozen of us there.

Suz and I still talk about what a wonderful time we had with the group.

Well it looks like I opened a can of worms, sorry guys. If we get the cruise we will be going with the group, hoping for either an eastern or a double dip. Not hoping for a Western at all as we have done that 3 times now and are ready for a change. (but are willing to sacrifice for a double dip.):grouphug:

Evening all...

Just catching up as I haven't been on since Friday afternoon. We had a family thing yesterday, and today was a workday. Our spare bedroom has been transformed into a scrapbooking room! YEAY!

Of course, I'm too tired from rearranging everything to do any scrapping...:lmao:

We're still in the 'we aren't sure if we're going at all' stage so I guess it will be a wait and see situation after the 09 dates come out. (I hope they put out all of 09 and not just the first 6 months.) I am almost sure that my kids aren't coming on this trip--too hard on Emily. She had a great time on the cruise, but was nervous about all the schoolwork she was missing. Rob and I haven't had a chance to sit and talk about it face to face.

If the 24th turns out to be the double dip, we will definitely start thinking a lot harder about it.:goodvibes

We are also planning to go 10/24 due to the school schedule. (I can't believe Thomas will be in 1st grade by then!) I am hoping for either a double dip or eastern, but western would be ok too. There are things we didn't get to do (7 mile beach in Grand Cayman, and we didn't get to go snorkeling anywhere) that we could still do on a western. Plus, all the things we didn't get to do on the ship! We would most likely not do a cruise to Alaska - that's really not an itinerary we're interested in.

I think my in-laws are all envious of what a great time we had - Pete's sister and brother-in-law have already said they want to come with us in '09. They have kids and live in WI too, so they like the idea of the kids missing less school.

Doesn't DCL know how they're messing with our lives by not putting out their itineraries already!!!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

No can of worms. Better to get it out now than in 3 weeks (o.k. I'm hoping) when the itineraries come out. I based my comments on the double dip on the dates, but the 31st is technically the last day they leave in October. I looked at last full week as well as the 4th sailing of the month.

If worse come to worse, like I said, we'll stop and say hi when we get off the ship. Plus, I don't think the colors fade away in a week on the boarding passes, so we can pass our used #2's on to someone. :cool1:

I would love to go on an Eastern that week, but a Double Dip would be great as well. Who wouldn't want 2 days on Castaway Cay?

Just tell Rob you made a decision. :rotfl:

Have you guys been on an Eastern? You'd love it if you haven't.

I would be a little bummed with another Western, but we're going for the ship, not the itinerary. We'll just have to hope for a re-route if it is a Western.

We haven't done an Eastern, and we'd be willing if it was KK2, but we really want a double dip.:thumbsup2

As for as me making the decision...he was the one who said something about going in 09. Our firm plans are to go summer 2011. I think we'll start making decisions when he returns on the 18th. I am so torn because Rob and I have never taken a vacation without the kids. I know it's fine and not selfish of us to do so, but it's different, so it makes me feel peculiar. Luckily I have almost 2 years to get used to the idea.:goodvibes

Ok, I'll stop talking about my mommy guilt......honest!

Question...Weren't we supposed to get pins on our Castaway Club lanyards?

We didn't get any, so I assumed they would be in cc bag in the stateroom, but we had none.
