Of course Rob is out of town, so what does Kira do??

She took her first step today!!!

The past few days she has been standing a lot on her own for about 10-30 seconds and today she was standing all on her own for about a minute as I was watching her and then she looked at me and took a step then tried to take another one and she fell on her bum

Wow in that second pic you can really see her teeth trying to poke through.
Then in the other pics you can definately see that she is the perfect blend of her mommy and daddy. Congrats on the first step, they grow fast, enjoy every second.

according to the kk site, big red is up there also.

Karen no need to bring beach towels. You won't need them for the cruise. Disney provides towels for at the pool, Castaway Cay, excursions and even if you are going to a beach on one of the islands without doing a Disney excursion you can gettowels by the pool to take off the ship with you. I don't know where you are staying before and after the cruise but most hotels provide towelsto use at their pools also. Take the beach towels out and save the room for something else

I'll take them out. I'm sure the hotel provides them too. Its a shame-I 'd bought new disney ones. Mind you - I intend to buy a cruise towel anyway sosI'll still have one nice one

I KNOW--even though Amazing Race is still my favorite!1

I am addicted to the amazing race. The seies running in the uk at the moment is the one with the hippies and Mo Jo etc. I really want the hippies to win. I loved the series with the black lady too who had her head shaved - wow! - that took some guts to do that

That is still going to be one heck of a great trip!!! And a ton of planning and packing! I can only imagine. Have you thought of those bags that you can vacume the air out of? Space savers? We used them on our last cruise and it saved us a ton and a half of room. We even had clothing that we never wore.

I did think of the space saver bags, but you need a vacuum to suck the air out - what would I do on the return journey

Hi everyone,

Really quite sad around here. Yesterday, we were told that our dear dog, Sasha, has a malignant tumor on her leg. The lab tests says it's "highly suggestive of sarcoma" which means cancer. She's 9.5 years old, and looks and acts quite healthy. She has a surgical consultation tomorrow, and if they agree with the surgery, it will probably be on Monday. I'm not even sure yet what kind of cancer. She's been the best dog, so very affectionate. We had her long before we had kids. Our hearts are breaking.

I'll keep everyone posted, but from what I've been reading on canine cancers, and the size of the tumor, it's not looking too good.

I don't know if I posted this or not so forgive me if it is a duplicate post. We rolled all of our silver coin and finished earlier this week...total....drumroll.............$730.00. We are going to take the pennies in to one of those machines instead of rolling them all.

Fantastic! - well done. I think we might start this ready for next year.

I put up a new table on yahoo tonight. Check it out and let me know what you think.

How about musical pumpkin pass. There are not chairs to get people hurt. You have a baby pumpkin that they pass from kid to kid and when the music stops that person is a winner.

I don't think it would be hard to make the twister board. I just know that out here you can not play twister at schools. To much human contact.

If you scoop out the pumpkin and fill it with lollies, the kids take a lolly every time it stops on them. The last one gets the prize

Good for Ellis! Stuart has been doing better as well. They give out strips to each child at the end of the day. Blue for Good, Green for "you needed some reminding of the rules today," Yellow for Poor behavior and Red for Heinous! Stuart has brought home blue slips for three days in a row. (a record for him) He too has also had a substitute and it is tempting to think that either the regular teacher is too strict or the sub is too lenient. But then Stuart tells me of all the kids that got gree strips today and I don't know what to think.

Well, he's just about to go this morning. He seems ok at the moment. That tear on the football thing is still working

Steve tell me more about your trip there. I have been reading some online tonight. I guess history can be ok.

Boy, I wish I could remember more. That was about 6.5 years ago. We did a big loop around the state of AZ. Pretty much we entered the state and immediately went south, not stopping too much and met my parents who were in Tucson. There we went to two places. Old Tucson, which is an old movie studio that they have converted to a theme park, somewhat like Universal Studios without the rides. That was something else, because you could look around at the various mountains and rock formations and everything was so familiar, because you've seen them all in about a hundred movies. We then went to a place, and I cannot remember the name, that is a working movie/television set. This guy built it on his own land over a long time and when it is not in use he'll take people on tours of it. Since there is not a huge demand currently for Westerns, it has a lot of down time. He also has a large collection of vintage cars on the set hidden about. That way he can convert his old western town to a depression era small town in a flash. About twice a year he has a professional movie production outfit come out to his place and film the "Shootout at the OK corral" This he casts with paying customers. If you want to be Wyatt Earp, it'll cost you. Lesser roles were more affordable. If you want to completely cast your own movie with all your own friends, they'll set up a special date for you. Very cool.

I'm rambling now. I'll try to be brief, on the same trip we went to Tombstone, AZ. Very cool. For those history buffs out there, Tombstone is history! Much of it is now very touristy but there is an area where they take you step by step through the exact location of the Shootout at OK corral. It Really wasn't much of a corral, more of an alley. Those guys were really right on top of each other.

Then we went up the east side of AZ, to an old indian dwelling area. This was the most dissappointing part of the trip. When Laura and I were married we went to Cancun and visited Chechen Itza. I was able to get up close and personal with all the ruins. In America, access to places like that is strictly controlled and the closest we could get was about a mile and we had to look at the ruins through Binoculars. Not interesting.

From there we went to Jerome and Sedona. We went on a long drive through the rock formations of Sedona. The Rocks which seem to be on fire, they are so red, framed with the intense green of the surrounding foliage made for the most impressive stuff I have ever seen.

After that we went up to the Grand Canyon. Did the train ride to the canyon. Won't do that again. Very abbreviated tour. I felt like a Japanese tourist being rushed from place to place without the chance to do much but snap a few pics and get back on the bus. The town that is right outside of Grand Canyon was pretty cool. It was part of the Route 66. Very nostalgic. Funny thing about Arizona. We were baking in the south but up north, I had to disconnect my trailer at night and stow my hoses lest they freeze solid. It even snowed on us one night. Crazy.

I really loved that State. Some great things there. If I could only live with the heat. I can't abide by that!

Jerome, however, was just like the picture that you posted. Built completely on the side of a mountain. It was a mining town as you have shown. And when the company went out of business, the town almost completely died. It's now, primarily, a tourist town. Not much reason to go up that way unless you want to see an old ghost town. All the streets in town were steep and wound upon themselves. That hospital was very interesting, we went on a breif tour of that. It was pretty state of the art for it's time. My guess is that it would have to be, because of the dangerous mining being done there. I think that they have converted some of it into a hotel. If I remember correctly, you can still stay there. Which is the source of a lot of the Ghost stories. I remembered something the elevator there, but couldn't quite rembember the details. Since I wasn't sure if my memory was correct, I looked it up and there was a mysterious death that involved the elevator.

Well, I'm going to try to go back to sleep now. That's the trouble with me taking too much time off work. I'm never tired enough to sleep through the whole night. I wake up and have to putter around a bit before getting tired enough to return to bed.

I'm so very sorry and I hope she does well with the surgery. Have you said anything to the kids about what's going on yet or do you want to wait and see what happens? My heart really goes out to you. We have a 13.5 yr old black lab. He's been a wonderful dog but we see him quickly going downhill, especially now that the weather is getting colder. We've been talking to the kids for a long time about when the time comes. Fortunately we have had lots of time, and not something sudden like you are going through.
