OK, I checked the Cat 6's on Deck 5 (there are only 20, with 10 behind the Cat 7's, so those can't really be checked) plus the 10 behind the Cat 7's on Deck 6 (again, can't really be checked - showed unavailable).

Well, all of the ones in front of the Cat 7's on Deck 5 are available.

Those numbers are:

5122
5124
5126
5128
5130

5622
5624
5626
5628
5630

Those, plus the ones I know through my process, brings the Cat 6's up to 18 available. I have about 90 rooms left to check.

Right now there are a total of 76 balcony rooms available and as stated above, before I check the othe 90 Cat 6's.

I'm smelling upgrades for some people in the next 3-4 weeks. :cool1:

That's good to hear--I hope I enjoy the time as well, but I am afraid it will be a little lonely around here--especially around lunchtime.

Don't get me wrong. I have only been home 2 days without her. The first day of school and I had Scott to keep me company and then last Friday. I had to go take care of my mom that day. I will only have Fridays off, so my goal is to volunteer at the school 2 Fridays a month. We will take to the teacher this Wednesday and see if I can do it in her room. If not I will find a place in the library of someplace that they could use me. I want to be very proactive in her school. As she adjusts I might up it to 3 days a month. I plan on going on any field trips and want to help however I can.

thats the joke i alway tell. cass pushed us out of the way to get the last upgrade. but it really never happened that way.:rolleyes1 right cass? :rotfl2:

Actually, I pushed and shoved my way to the front, I didn't care who was in front of me, DISer or no DISer :lmao: :rotfl2:

Actually, when we checked in, I asked if there were upgrades, she looked surprised when she told me yes! She said it doesn't happen often! So while I finished checking us in, I told Rob to run as fast as he can and get in the upgrade line. By the time I got there, we were third in line and got the last verandah.

The ones at the very back are usually held for terminal upgrades, most people aren't happy paying full price for those ones as they have a solid metal verandah and they are on a curve so most of the verandahs are smaller than the regular ones.

You don't have to worry about us this time Mike & Robin, I am happy with the cabin we booked :thumbsup2

But now that I think about it, did you ever go back and check again for an upgrade because there were several Cat 3, 4 & 5's available, so I would imagine some people that had booked a verandah cabin could have upgraded then their cabin would become available, right?

OK, I did it. I went through all the Cat 6's. Only found 13 that I didn't have before.

Here are all the Cat 6's available as of tonight (31 of them):

Wow Jeff you sure checked all those cabins quickly. There seems to be alot of cabins still available. Last year when we cruised this same week I am pretty sure the ship was almost completely full.

I think they hold those rooms as well, some of which are handicapped. There are a total of 30 rooms behind the Cat 7's with the solid wall. That is a large number of rooms. You can not select them on DCL's site even 2 years from now.

And yes, if a Cat 4, 5 or 6 ups to a Cat 3 (which you can't check online), their room would become available.

I would say when you get into the upgrade line, and they say there are no upgrades available, in Cat 4-7, see if there are any in 3. Then check back periodically to see if a 4, 5 or 6 upgraded to one. If there are no 3's available, then they won't be moving up.

It did seem to go a lot quicker this time then when I first did it. However, now I have the spreadsheet already set up with the room numbers. I can key very quickly using the 10-key on the keyboard, so I got it done rather fast.

I did not check Cats 8 or 9 since most people who want upgrades want balconies.

If I'm really bored sometime, I'll add those to my sheet to check them. What that would tell us, however, is how full this ship really is.

Here is a recap of the available Cat 4 - 7 rooms:

Cat 4: 3 of 80 available (2%)
Cat 5: 48 of 114 available (42%)
Cat 6: 31 of 138 available (22%)
Cat 7: 7 of 30 available (23%)

Total: 89 of 362 (25%)

If you add the 30 rooms with solid verandahs, you are at 119 of 362 or 33% of all non-suite balconies are available. That is a lot.

I may get stupid one of these nights and check the Cat 8 - 12 just to see what our capacity is at. The only problem is if they don't assign the GTY's.

Yes, I am checking each room individually.

I would say you are right on for the timing of the FREE upgrades. The GTY people will probably get their rooms about then as well, and rumor is that they have the best chance at upgrades.

If you are happy with your room, I'd wait until at the terminal to see what is available. However, one we got upgraded for free in 2005, there was nothing left when we got to port. They moved everyone up.

I think they would have done FL resident rates already. Next would be Disney CM offerings.

Lastly, I think they'll move the upper Cat people up 5 to 4, 6 to 5 and then start doing bigger moves such as 9 to 6 or 7. Then maybe 10-12 to 8-9. Then try to sell the Cat 10-12 at a low rate.

But, no one knows what DCL does.

I'm way happy with our room. I picked it out specifically for it's location aft (easy access to the drink station, quick cokes!) and near the laundry, and facing CC when docked. That said, I would not turn down a verandah. At the port I thought that if there were upgrades avail, I may bite at one, then again I may just save the money for playing. Like I said, I'm secretly hoping for that year of a million dreams to land squarely on my lap:)

I'd have to agree with you. With so many cat6's avail, there will be some pixie dust flying.

steve. did you see big brother yet? i dont want to ruin it.

Watching it now.

Hey Jeff,

Great job on the cabin numbers!

Since you are our numbers guy, have you ever thought (or seen) of figuring out the table numbers in the dining rooms?? I'm sure that with enough DISers input, we could get a decent layout with table #'s. I know they change a little with each cruise, but I think you could do a decent job still!

Which brings me to another thing...

After check-in at the terminal, we should try to get together with our linked KKers and check out what table #'s and rotation we got to see if they did a decent job with our requests! ::yes::

What Cat are you in right now?

As for upgrading at port, what would you pay? I would probably do $500 for the 3 of us if available. Any more and I might as well have booked it to begin with.

Not only Cat 6, but Cat 5 as well. 79 rooms between the 2 of them.

When you are checking cabins, are you punching in different guest requirements?? Like 2 adults, 2 kids and then just 2 adults??

OK, here is the QotD for Wednesday:

If you are in a non-balcony room, what would you pay for an upgrade into a balcony room?

If you are in a balcony room, what would you pay for a Cat 3 (one-bedroom) suite?

If you are in Cat 7, you can answer what you'd pay for a full balcony room.

The table numbers in the dining rooms make no sense to me. You can go in order for a while (maybe 10-15 tables) but then you can't find the next one on the list.

As for how many each number sits, that's hard to say.

If you ask nicely, I bet someone would give you the seating chart. That would be something of value to other DISers.

And to answer your question, Yes, I think we should see if we got linked up when we're in the terminal. We'll all be near each other anyways, so we could see what we got.

When you are checking cabins, are you punching in different guest requirements?? Like 2 adults, 2 kids and then just 2 adults??

I only used 2 adults and 1 child (age 7). Club capacity wouldn't matter from category to category, because once it allows me to include the child, it is available.

As for going with only 2 adults, I don't think there is a room in Cats 4 -7 that doesn't handle at least 3 (they all have sofas which turn into beds). If I put in 2+2, that would eliminate several rooms because they can't handle the 4th (i.e. no pull down bed).

I'll give it a try and call my TA tomorrow to see if the FL resident and military rates have come out yet........Maybe after those are given, the free upgrades will follow.

I've gotta get some sleep now......

Have a restful night all.
