Victoria,

Glad to see you back.

First off, remember, the ressies opened up early at 90 days (around 11:00 p.m. the night before our time).

Our DS is still on the cheap side (he's only 7) but yes, I think they charge a lot for a sub-16 year old. I think they should base the excursion prices like they do the cruise prices. Price breaks at 3, 12 and 17.

Me too, it is probably going to stop us from going on a couple because for 3 "adults" and 1 child it is just too much!

Well, you're not going to be a lurker too much longer are you?

Hey, we were thinking of doing another WI DIS meet, this time on the south side of Milwaukee. Are you interested?

I try not to be a lurker, but sometimes 4 or 5 days go by without me having a chance to log on. Sometimes I just read because I figure my life is too boring :rotfl: !! Once Zachary starts kindergarten I may have more of a chance, but I think my husband thinks I should start doing all the housework that I have neglected since son #1 was born TEN years ago. Yikes--that's a lot of clutter!!

I would try to do something with the stingrays in Grand Cayman if it is available.

There are several different excursions that go there, just pick one you like.

We did just the swim with the rays - nothing else with it.

What about the stingray experience on Castaway Cay?? Is it worth it? I am considering the semi-sub thing on GC--I think both boys will like that even though being on a submarine is one of my worst nightmares! :scared1: I figure I can survive the semi-sub thing, I think.

Jeff,

Thanks, by the way, on the advice--I will start checking for ressies around 11pm. My husband also DJs weddings--so I will have a date with my computer this Saturday night!!

I am finally caught up!!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Cass, I guess you now have your wish of VD. At least halfway!!!!!!

The mini DIS meet looked like fun!!! I can't wait to meet everyone!!!!

Well, I hate to just run after not being here for so long but 4:45 will be here way to quick!!!!!
Good night!!!

Hi Jeff - Actually that was Abby. I was here a few nights ago. I even had a hello to you in my last message.

I too saw the info on the 10/20 "L" time on the KSC site but not the NASA site. Ugh, I really hope it's not at 1250. That could seriously tie up some traffic. I'll just keep watching.

Ok, I'm asking for some pixie dust to blow my way. My DH is a gov't contractor, and their contract is up the end of this year. He really would rather stick with the same company for a new job (he's been there 8-9 years), but he also doesn't want to increase his commute time. Everything they've been offering him is over a 2 hour drive away, each way. He's getting more & more frustrated as time goes by. Please, send us some pixie dust that he can find a job, closer than an hour or so commute, with no decrease in pay or benefits. I'm just afraid he won't be able to enjoy himself as much if we go on the cruise, and he still doesn't have a job lined up by October.

Did I see some posts from Andy here earlier? Cool! Hi Andy! :yay:

Fighting a cold. Yuck! The last few colds I've had have really been affecting my sinuses. They just ache. I blame my eldest DD. She had it first.

Well, gonna run! Hope everyone had a good weekend. I'm off from work until Friday. My girls are in an in-home daycare, and she's closed this week for her vacation. So, when she closes, I have to take off work.

pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: Hang in there, something will come along his way that will tell him exactly what he needs to do. Personally I would not want the commute either.

So what fun exciting things do you have line up for the week with the kids?

Ticks me off that I have to pay the adult price for my ten-year old. Any one else mad about that?

I hear you! The first cruise we took Katie on, she was only 6 months old. We had to pay the 3rd person price for her! We were just amazed. She wasn't even on solid foods yet, so it's not like she was eating her way through! Luckily, the cruise wasn't too expensive to being with, but it just really irked me. This will be Katie's 3rd cruise now. What a little traveler!

Oh, just got the girls' passports this weekend. Ours were just renewals, so hopefully, they're not too much further behind.

Jeff - thanks so much for the kind words. Really means alot to me!

If they do stick with the 1250 time, we're just going to have to make sure our transfer to the pier is EARLY! We already have our ressie for the Poly the night before, and really don't want to change it. We're going to try to stay at the MK late the night before, to maximize our park time. My DH is so hoping to see the "L"!

Wish I lived closer to you guys, just to meet up a bit before the cruise. Not that I hope to live in WI, just closer to my DIS board friends!

Actually I think you are on Sunday night.

Can someone please confirm that for Victoria?

We're doing Castaway Rays on CC. It is not like it is in GC. In GC you get into about 4' of water and they swim around you.

In CC, they come up a little track, swim over your hands and take the food from you. Not sure if you get any other interaction with them.

Maybe someone who has done it on CC can help out here.

DS was a little freaked in January in GC, but he says he's fine with the one in CC. He didn't like them swimming around him or the depth of the water.

If you get a chance, there are stingrays at the MKE zoo you can see/feed/touch this summer.

I don't know about Steve, but I am a first time cruiser and am feeling completely overwhelmed by the upcoming deadline! Can't seem to get the hubbie or kids to commit to anything--it's the old "whatever you want." I do want to do some special things, but hate to spend a ton of money for just "o.k." excursions. Ticks me off that I have to pay the adult price for my ten-year old. Any one else mad about that?

I am so glad you posted this. I have felt this one from day one. I have an 11 year old and 12 year old and I think it is horrible that we have to pay adult prices for them. So with that I decided that anything they did would have to be cheap. I have been on several cruises before and I have not found and excursion yet that has been worth the money the cruise lines charge for them. I must have high expectations. I can not get by DH or older kids to make any decisions either. In Key West we are just doing our own thing. But then I decided that DH and older kids could do snorkeling in CK. I will not snorkel after getting stung by a jelly fish the last time I went. So I thought while he did that I could take the youngest on a glass bottom boat so she could see the fishies. But know oldest DD does not want to snorkel. So I have given up. I am looking at taking the youngest in the sub and grand cayman. It is cheaper through the company instead of DCL. The company actually offers 3 different prices instead of just 2.

Thanks so much! I knew I could come here for some shoulders to lean on!

On Tuesday, we're meeting up with one of Katie's pre-K friends. They're going to kindergarten together too, so they'll be so glad to see each other.

Not much else planned for the rest of the week. Probably a bit of shopping, the girls love to go out. (Mommy too!) I get a bit stir crazy if I sit all day with them, as I am used to working, so we'll have to see. Might get their pool out one day too. They love to splash around in that.

I am closterphobic (sp) and I am forcing myself to go on the actual all the way under sub. I figure if my DD can not snorkel then this is the next best thing for her.

Yes Jeff you are right. We are supposed to be August 6th, but since they are opening the night before it would be Sunday night.

Wish I lived closer to you guys, just to meet up a bit before the cruise. Not that I hope to live in WI, just closer to my DIS board friends!

Susan is driving up to Niagra Falls and back. Not sure if her trip will be through your area.

She is posting from her Blackberry while in route. You may want to post here or via PM to see if she wants to meet up.

Same goes for the VD.

At least it is one way to possibly meet some of the KKers.

Paige is also now in VA, not sure how close she is to everyone.

Steve,

Refresh my memory. You are a first time cruiser, correct? Getting excited about doing ressies this coming Sunday?

Yep. First Time. Excited and a bit freaked out. I have to have all my plans ready by then!

I am closterphobic (sp) and I am forcing myself to go on the actual all the way under sub. I figure if my DD can not snorkel then this is the next best thing for her.

I'm a bit claustrophobic as well. I've learned to deal with it a bit. Still bugs me though.
