Is there anyway that someone who has already made reservations can see if things are still available for those of us that can not book until August 6th?

one thing to keep in mind. It seems that most are able to make their ressies Midnight EST which is 9pm PST. Sooooo, for us west coast peoples...Aug 5th at 9pm be online for your ressies. To my knowledge there is no way to determine what has been booked up yet. Remember, though, there will be some reservations to make onboard. Be there early you may still luck out.

Aaah - it's my evening pop in time. :yay:

Cass - thanks for the heads up on the MK hours. Wow - 1am is very late!

Liz - nice to see you back here. Glad to hear your wedding plans are moving along. Won't be too much longer now!

Rose - yep, 10am Palo brunch on Sunday for us. Haven't done brunch before, should be fun. We always try to do something new on vacation (well, there's an opening line for Jeff! :rolleyes1 )

Speaking of Jeff - thanks for the info on the character b'fast! You're the best! We too will probably bring the girls so they can see the characters (from afar) and then save room for brunch. The grandparents are doing the brunch on Monday, so they can eat with the girls.

Well - not much else to say. Off to play a video game before bed! G'night!

Thank you that helps to know. We have one child in my parents room under their reservation number and they are absolutly against doing anything online so I was trying to figure out how to book excursions for him to join us without going against their wishes. Now that I know that some reservations can be made on the ship I might just go that route and get what we get.

I am searching google for taxi prices in Grand Cayman. Anyone arware of the prices or where I can find them.

I believe that you can call DCL that night too. For those w/o internet connections.

DCL will actually have their phone lines open for people to call at that hour? So I could call them at 9:00 and book things for our DS that is in my parents room to do things with us.

I would think so. Since people call all times of the day and night simply because there are so many different time zones to deal with.

Cass

Question for booking an excursion through the company and not DCL. If we book with them, what is to happen if the weather prevents us from porting there and we can not do that activity. Do we get refunds or are we out the money?

All of the places I have booked this trip and previous trips have the same rules, if the ship cannot get to the port, you get a full refund and/or they do not charge you. If the ship does make it into port and you do not show up, then you are charged the full amount.

Just make sure you read their policies, I am not sure that every place has the same policy, so check before you book!

Hey here is a question for everyone

I was looking up the turtle farm at Grand Cayman to see if we could do it on our own. The turtle farm has or is expanding to something called Boatswains Beach, boy are the prices higher the the city tour. Looks like a fun place but has anyone been to it for some advice

I have one company that we are looking at that I could not find their polices on their website. Maybe I am to tired and overlooked it. Am I supposed to call them for this info or should it be on the website?

So I am researching the turtle farm/ beach. This is a review that I found on it. Along with many others. Sorry it is lengthy but the last paragraph almost made me spit my tea back out, laughing so hard.

We were immediately aware that there was no price published anywhere at the ticket counter. My husband was told that there were only two types of passes available-- wet or dry. The wet passes allowed you to go into the pools and were $75 for adults and $50 for children. The dry passes allowed you access to everything but swimming and were $50 for adults and $25 for children. He asked what the cheapest pass was to just see the turtles and they told him that the dry pass was the least expensive pass that they offered. We told them we would take the 2 adult dry passes and 2 child dry passes. Then they informed us that if we added $10 to the passes we could swim (which made no sense at all), so we figured they were making up the prices as they went along since the prices were not posted anywhere. Our children wanted to go in the water with the fish, so we paid a whopping $170.00. After entering the park and speaking to a group of people who had paid only $18 to see only the turtles, we asked for a manager. We were told that those passes were not available at that location! (we were standing at the ticket counter)
We demanded our money back since we felt very strongly that we had been taken to the cleaners and he very nicely credited our charge card and apologized. There were quite a few very unhappy people besides our family as well.

As for the attraction itself, I also found it to be very cruel. The poor turtles are stacked on top of each other fighting to get the food that is being thrown to them by visitors. I don't believe that they would be able to get away with something like that in the U.S.

After leaving the turtle farm, we walked a block down the road to eat lunch only to find turtle on the menu! Are they protecting turtles or raising them to sell to restaurants? They are apparenty
available at most of the restaurants in the area. I will not ever return, but my kids enjoyed the experience immensely.

If you send me the link I can take a peek at it, if you like.

Ok here is another one on the turtle farm. Sorry guys it has been a rough few weeks and I just find these really funny. Thought I would share the laughs to anyone else who needs them.

I visited the "turtle farm" in Feb 2007. I found the conditions of these incredible animals deplorable. These are solitary creatures that are forced to live in filthy over crowded pens. Many have raw and infected skin on their necks from climbing over one another. This facility claims to be helping the species, but I only see them getting rich from turtle soup. Don't waste your money.

You are such a sweet heart. I am now laughing so hard I can not see straight to accomplish much of anything. The webaddress is www.atlantisadventures.com/cayman. We had to click on Grand Cayman.

BTW Scott says Hi:wave2: And he misses his late night partner. BTW he is sitting right next to me so he will be on later tonight to talk, now he says possibly

Carrie, I took a quick peek at the site, I didn't see anything about their policies either but it says that you are welcome to email them with any questions so I would go ahead and email then and just ask them what happens if the ship does not make it to Grand Cayman.

Against my better judgment, I am going to go workout :scared:

I shall return in just over an hour! :woohoo:

Thank you for looking and I will have to contact them later this week. It is deffinatly cheaper to book through them and walk to their location. Scott and I have done that walk before.

Have a good workout.

Off to bed. Hope everyone gets a good laugh from the turtle reviews. Have a good night and day
