What a busy group today. I had to go back 6 pages just since this morning in order to catch up. :woohoo:

Just an update on Mike. He is out of ICU and has been moved to a rehab center. He is talking but not very conherent (sp). There are times that he makes since and times that he does not. His short term memory is gone, and they are not sure about long term. They feel he could be in rehab for a year. He has very little strength, and they are teaching him how to walk again.

Well I have about an hour before little DD goes to bed so we are going to have our dessert and paint her nails and send her off to bed. I might be lucky and get some :laundy: done also. Then I will be back on working on my prezziez, oh maybe I will even get some pic throug photobucket tonight for free. Just maybe.

Also AAA told us the our DD that is 12 would be allowed to pick if she stayed with the 12 year old or went in with the teens because her birthday is close to the sailing. Her b-day is Jan.8th. Well Dis just informed me that no she can not do that. Only if we were sailing in December. Guess I need to tell her that she can not go do the teen stuff. :sad2: That means she won't be able to hang with Racheal. :sad1:

Carrie I'm sure Rachel will spend time with Kelsey even if she can't get in the club. Last year she and the friends she made went to movies together and the pool (with a parent) and just hung out together not in the kids club. A number of DIS families went to the same beach in Cozumel and we all hung out together there and then at Castaway Cay a bunch of us set up by each other so we could all hang out together there too. We just ask that Rachel always communicate with us as to where she will be and whom she is with. Once when we got back to our cabin we must have had near a dozen voice mails from her on the phone saying now I'm going........ with...... But we were glad she was letting us know what she was doing! So don't worry even if they don't let Kelsey in the teen club I'm sure it will be OK :goodvibes

Me neither Linda - thought I was gonna lose a pound but stayed the same - I got on and off the scales 4 times this morning incase they changed their mind but they didnt:rolleyes:

Just did spin and aqua this morning.

Dont let it get you down... stick at it...hopefully next week we'll both lose 2lb:yay:

Linda and Karen I didn't lose any this week either. But hey at least we stayed the same and we didn't gain ;) Let's not get discouraged and hopefully we'll see better results next week!

:sad2: Forgot to mention earlier - I dont know if any of you remember a while back I was talking about how dangerous the road is outside our house and the school and that several kids have had near misses cos of people parking illegally....well today a child got knocked down on his way out of school:sad1: ....I dont know how he is but his face was all cut up and an ambulance arrived quickly and took him off to hospital.

All because people cant slow down, park properly and walk 100 yards.

I wish they'd listened, I told the school, the council, the highways dept, the police and the traffic control warden. Nothing much was done. They'll do something now its too late.:sad2:

that is awful - i guess now the school will have to listen

I don't turn 40 until Jan 2008, so I guess I can't be part of your group. :sad1:

As for turning older, my sister-outlaw turned 40 this year. She went away with her friends, didn't spend it with her family and didn't want a cake or anything. Can't accept getting older.

Suz and I are completely different. We just look at it as another day. You are as young as you make yourself feel. Give up on living and having fun and you will grow old.

We are happy with our lives. Both have good jobs, she has a great spouse (mine is questionable :rotfl: ), and we have a great son. It all depends on what you value or think is important. There is one of those "Successories" signs in DS's Eye Doctor's office. It is titled "Priorities" reads:

"A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or what kind of car I drove...but the world may be different becasue I was important in the life of a child."

Prioritize the things in your life. Your children and their upbringing and education should be your main concern, not what you have. If you get bogged down on where you are in life, it will be picked up by them. Always try to be optimistic.

Also, look at your circle of friends. Can you call them in the middle of the night and they would come over? Will they dropped something they had planned if you were in crisis? If not, they aren't "friends". Our circle of friends will be their when and if we need them and us for them.

Jeff you worded it all so well! I like the "Priorities" you posted! How very true!!!

As far as growing older or worrying about age or a birthday I too just pretty much look at it as another day but yet a day to be celebrated because birthdays are inevitable, if you don't have a birthday and get older, well that means your no longer alive so make the best of the days we were given here and live them well.

Elouise is excited to have "big Children" on her table,I hope she doesnt become a pest and start following them around as if they are idols ! :rotfl2: She does enjoy older chidrens company. Guess that might be cos shes an only child, so use to adult conversation more ?:confused3

I think Elouise will get along famously with my Emily. Emily is great with kids--God knows she's done a ton of babysitting this year! We could call them "Little E" and "Big E.":rotfl: And I'm sure that Sean's daughter will get along great with them, too. You know, we women (and girls) bond no matter what age we are.:hippie:

What's everyone doing this weekend? DD4 (Julia) is going to an overnight camp with my mother tonight. She was so excited!!!! I pick her up tomorrow afternoon. Then off to a graduation party for my friends son. Then nothing!!!:cool1: :cool1: I should clean house. We'll see.:rolleyes1

That sounds fun. We have a hectic Saturday:

Spencer has a baseball practice at 1030 and then have to run to a birthday party that starts at 1130(will be late). He has to miss his drum lessons this week as they normally are at 1pm

Avery has a birthday party at noon and then a play date at her best friends.

I have to get them to all their places while getting ready to go to a wedding at 3pm (but is abotu 45 minutes away).

THen on Sunday - Spencer has one more school project this year and its due Monday - we havent even started it - so we will be plugging through that at least for the morning.

And finally - my last run of my new Running Program - Week 1. My body is killing me but I am determined to do this 10 week program

Hopefully they will meet up.... best at our group meet, otherwise Sean will be antisocial.... he never hangs out in the teen club.
But last cruise he met a teen at our group DIS meet and they became good friends and hung out together all the time on the ship.

Glad to know of one more older teen going.

Of course it will be nice to meet you also, Jessalynn and the rest of your family.

Rose

We will be at the DISMeet for sure - I look forward to meeting everyone

I have lost 8 pounds but been stagnat the last 2 weeks. I weight in again on Sudnay and hope to be down a pound. I am trying to focus on the overall results - and not the weekly results

a couple of questions from the kids:

- can we find out in advance what movies will be playing on teh ship?
- does the swimming pools ever close?

Has anyone done the towel or napkin folding classes on board? I think I want to do those this cruise.

Rachel and a few of the other girls went to the towel folding class last year. She was so proud of her towel animal and she surprised us and brought it to our cabin for us. I would like to do this this cruise also!

Nancy--I thought you'd be interested in this. Rob received this notification in his email at school. I'm sure you all saw this, but just in case......

I'm assuming "government issued ID" is a driver's license............

U.S. Citizens with Pending Passport Applications Allowed Temporary
Travel
Flexibility WITHIN WESTERN HEMISPHERE

WASHINGTON - The U.S. Departments of State and Homeland Security
announced
June 8, 2007 that U.S. citizens traveling to Canada, Mexico, the
Caribbean,
and Bermuda who have applied for but not yet received passports can
nevertheless temporarily enter and depart from the United States by air
with a government issued photo identification and Department of State
official proof of application for a passport through September 30, 2007.
The federal government is making this accommodation for air travel due
to
longer than expected processing times for passport applications in the
face
of record-breaking demand.

The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) was mandated by Congress
in
the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 to
strengthen
border security and facilitate entry into the United States for citizens
and legitimate international visitors. WHTI requirements for air travel
took effect on January 23, 2007.

Adults who have applied for but not yet received a passport should
present
government-issued photo identification and an official proof of
application
from the U.S. Department of State. Children under the age of 16
traveling
with their parents or legal guardian will be permitted to travel with
the
child's proof of application. Travelers who have not applied for a
passport should not expect to be accommodated. U.S. citizens with
pending
passport applications can obtain proof of application at:
http://travel.state.gov.

This accommodation does not affect entry requirements to other
countries.
Americans traveling to a country that requires passports must still
present
those documents.

Since implementation, U.S. Customs and Border Protection has and will
continue to exercise its current authorities in unique circumstances to
allow individuals subject to the WHTI requirements into the United
States
based on other evidence of identity and citizenship.

As early as January 2008, the departments will begin to implement WHTI
at
land and sea ports of entry. A Notice of Proposed Rulemaking outlining
a
phased implementation is expected to be published in the Federal
Register
within the next two weeks.

Travel document security remains a top priority for the U.S. Government.
Both the 9/11 Commission and the U.S. Congress urged strengthening of
travel documents to prevent entry of terrorists across our borders,
reduce
use of fraudulent documents, and speed up entry procedures.

How is everyone in WI doing? I heard that there were some tornados last night. Everyone ok.

We came through the storm fine! Like Victoria said they really hyped it up for this area but there were areas of the state that had near baseball sized hail. I moved my new car into the parking strucure at work when I heard this. I was at work when the storm came through and the ultrasound dept. is pretty much in the middle of the hospital no where near any windows or doors but I was still able to hear a couple claps of thunder so I new it must have been rumbling pretty good out there.

Carrie glad to hear Mike is out of the ICU. That is progress! Things like this do sometimes take a long time but it does sound like he is at least making some improvements. Thanks for keeping us updated. I'll continue to keep him in my prayers.

How is your mom doing? Any more improvement for her? I continue to keep her in my prayers too
