I am really enjoying reading about where everyone is from!

Jeff did a great job of summing up WI!

I live in Muskego which is southwest of Milwaukee. I actually grew up in Muskego, Al grew up on the "south side" of Milwaukee. When we got married we lived in Milwaukee for 5 years not far from where Al grew up and then we built our house here. Muskego isn't really known for anything and we don't have a quaint downtown or main street. When I was growing up Muskego was very much a farming community but now many of those farms I would ride past on the schoolbus are built up with subdivisions.

Going back a few days-- You told me I probably stayed in Brookefield. That is correct. I recognize the name. I also went to downtown Milwaukee to the weekly music thingy you all have there. It was really neat. What a pretty city. There was grass and trees everywhere. Luckily there was a therapist that I had worked with here in VA doing temp work at one of the centers up there and she came by and took me around to see some of the city. I enjoyed WI!!!

Not true.

Muskego Beach was a popular amusement park, located on the southern bank of Little Muskego Lake. It was also known as DandiLion Park. It was at some point, home of the world's fastest rollercoaster.

I'm too young to have ever gone there, but I remember my brother and sister talking about it. I think Suz has been there as well.

Now, if I may brag myself alittle. Kristin just looked up her grades and scored straight A's!! Ended up with a 3.986 GPA (one A-)for this last semester. Because of her grades she hopes to be approved to carry 17 credits this fall to assure graduating in December. Turns out that she needs only one class to graduate next May if they don't let her take the overload. It would be a shame if she had to go until next spring just for one class.

I hate that they give minuses and pluses on college transcripts! Her GPA should be 4.0! An A is an A, dammit! Rob has the same issue here. He has made what I would call "straight A's" throughout his time here, but he doesn't have a 4.0 because of the minuses on some of the A's. I say, "Universities, pick a grading scale and stick to it!" Ok, rant over and a BIG CONGRATS to Kristin! She deserves a pedicure, I think. Or at least a foot massage from the DBF!:thumbsup2

Cass those pictures are beautiful! My parents alwya wanted to get to Banff and Lake Louise but they never made it. Maybe someday Al, Rachel and I will go in their memory. My mom and I did go to Quebec, Montreal and Toronto about 22 years ago and we had a wonderful time, lots of beauty and history there too and I don't remeber the people being rude at all.

AFEG, Some Canadian Rockies pics for you and Hazel!

Victoria we love kringle! I have never seen a pumpkin one is that seasonal in the fall? Al's favorite is an eclair one but I think they only have those around Christmas time.

Cheryl

O.K. Here's my geography lesson on Racine.

Located on the shores of beautiful Lake Michigan.
Main ethnic groups: German, Italian, Danish, and Armenian

As previously mentioned we are famous for S.C. Johnson--both my parents worked there. S.C. Johnson is a family company--in its 5th generation. They brought in Frank Lloyd Wright to design a family home and the company's headquarters--both of which are amazing!

Also we have Insinkerator (garbage disposals) and Case Tractors.

We are the hometown of William Horlick who invented Malted Milk Tablets. I went to a high school named after him!! People from out of town always laughed when I said I attend hor-lick! :scared1:

The thing we are most famous for though is our Danish bakeries. We are a town of 80,000 people and we have a ton of bakeries. Their most famous product??? Danish Kringle--a racetrack shaped pastry that you can get with all kinds of fillings. The most poplular being apple, pecan & raspberry. I am most partial to the apricot, almond, or pumpkin. They are a big treat to out-of-towners, but I think most people who live here are pretty sick of kringle because you get it everywhere. (very fattening, as well!!)

Racine has always been an industrial town, but we are currently going through a pretty nice Renaissance in our downtown. We have a beautiful marina which is filled with gorgeous boats. (Most of them have Illinois or FIB owners :rolleyes1 ) We have 17 art galleries in a four-block section of town and have I ever mentioned that there is a really cute wine store there with especially friendly help??? :thumbsup2

OOPs Jeff I think I am the one you are referring to about not responding with sizes. I have just been so busy digging up the back yard garden area with a shovel since someone with a rotartiller never showed that I haven't had time :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Seriously I just forgot to measure our wrists. I put a note on the refrigerator to remind me to do that tonight and I promise to PM you tonight with our sizes. I like the idea of them being green, but green is my favorite color even before the DIS and Konked Kruisers or Konked Kruisers Oct-07 sounds good to me.

I have 15 responses, 2 of which were "no thank you", but of the 13 that want them, we are up to 53 and one person said yes but didn't respond back with sizes. So, since we need to order in increments of 5 per size, we are looking at 60 bands, minimum. We will be at the $1.95 price break for the bands and shipping is just over $9.00. So cost before mailing to everyone is about $2.11 (let's call it $2.10).

If anyone who hasn't responded is interested, please shoot me a PM and I will add you to the list. I'm just trying to get a feel of who wants them and it is not a committment at this point.

I still have about 10 people that I haven't heard from. Not all of them post on a weekly basis and I may send individual PM's to them. But, since most of the "regulars" have responded, I think this may be a go.

We need to determine the color we want and the saying.

I think the standard color for DIS is neon green, but I'm open to any color. If we want the color of a Konked Kooler (not sure what that color is) we can do that. They also have a "glow in the dark" band (it doesn't say there is any upcharge for it).

If you click here: https://reminderband.com/specs.php, you can see the colors they have to offer.

As for the saying, we are limited to 25 characters including spaces, with Reminder Bands (the one with the 3 sizes). It has been requested that we include at least "Oct" in the date since the non-US DISers put their day in front of the month (i.e. no 10-20-07).

My thought was "Konked Kruisers Oct 20, 2007". But, if my counting is right, that would be 28 characters including the spaces, 3 over the limit. We could cut the day off and go "Konked Kruisers - Oct '07".

The last thing we need to determine is if we want the saying colored in. This would make it stand out and readable without getting right on top of the wristband. We chose not to do this on the cruise I went on that had these. Some people colored them in but did not like how it looked once they did. I'm fine either way. Not sure how readable we want it. It would be an extra $.25 per band to color it in, so the total would go to $2.35 per band before mailing from me to you.

I'm open to all request, comments, suggestions.

Ok, I think it's time for another pic..........how about a Halloween pic of me and Rob last year? It's kinda big...sorry. Here it is and then I am off to volunteer at school........

Please go vote on Yahoo if you didn't for the coloring and the saying. I think we have 8 votes already (there are only about 16-20 of us that vote).

Also, for the sizes, I'm sure it will end up being 1 Lg (Al) and 2 Md (you and Rachel - don't want to get a teen a yth, they'd out grow it in no time). Let me know though.

:cheer2: CONGRATULATIONS KELSEY!:cheer2:

Kelsey's promotion (graduation) went well today. Boy has school changed since I was a kid. She made honor roll, which is a first for her. :cool1: With everything that has gone on in her life this yaer I am really proud that she did so well in school.

:cheer2: CONGRATULATIONS KRISTIN!!!:cheer2:

Here's some pixiedust: that she'll be able to graduate in Dec.!!!

Jeff I forgot about Dandilion Park as we always called it when I was just a little girl. I do vaguely remeber it and had gone a few times. I never knew it was at one time home to the world's fastest rollercoaster, that old rickety wooden thing :confused3 maybe that's why my brother turned green on it :lmao:

Another thing WI is known for is all the waterpark resorts in the WI Dells. The Dells is where Noah's Ark Waterpark is, it has been rated in the top 10 on the Travel Channels show about waterparks and then there are also many indoor waterpark resorts too. I'm not sure if Jeff has already mentioned this in one of his posts or not but I don't remember reading about it.

Paige how did your doctors appointment for your knee go? Did you get the go ahead for the treadmill? I hope your knee continues to improve :flower3:

Cheryl

I DVRed Dancing With the Stars last night. I'm off to watch it while I pedal away on the exercise bike.

Lori, Missy and Carrie (and all other KK's)

Hopefully this will clarify things. DIStag magnets and Cabin magnets are two different things. First, the Cabin magnet is something we are all making up on our own (with a little help from friends ;) ) to place on our doors. There is a really good thread on the Regular Cruise thread that has pictures of door magnets. Hopefully, someone will post a link for you. If not, I'll try to find it for you later.

Secondly, the DIStag magnet is something totally different. DIStag is explained on page 367 Post 5496 of this thread. Lori, you signed up already to play tag with us. Maybe Missy & Carrie would like to read about it. Those magnets are little green mickey head magnets that I will supply to DIStaggers on our first DISmeet along with a list of participants. We have 15 participants already but I'm thinking of cutting it off at 20. (OK Karen??;) )

Sidenote: I realize that we all have limited space in our luggage to bring tag gifts so, perhaps cutting it off at 20 would be in the best interest of all. What do you all think about that?

L,M,C,...Clear as mud??

Nancy:hippie:

If you havent hit the limit yet - can you put me down for DISTAG - My kids are really excited about this idea.

Thanks
Jessalynn
