Hi hi hi! I'm finally back online here with you guys!

Tina

Welcome back Tina!

I still don't have my kit. Another question to call my AAA and ask but then again I have left 3 messages now and she still won't return my calls. I am so done with AAA. From now on I book everything myself.

Ok I just called Dis demanding our cruise packet. Well I made DH call he is nicer then I am. I am feed up with AAA not getting back to me so I decided to go straight to DIS.

As for the cruise planning packet it will generally go out 75 days prior to sailing. However if you have cruised with Dis before then you get yours early. So 75 days for us will be Aug. 6th. They said we should get it a week or so before that. So the end of July.

I was also told by AAA that our minor children would need to have a birth certificate, a passport and a state ID. Well then the passport thing got pushed out so I wanted to check on the state ID. No you do not need a state ID and if you have a passport you do not need a birth certificate.

Also AAA told us the our DD that is 12 would be allowed to pick if she stayed with the 12 year old or went in with the teens because her birthday is close to the sailing. Her b-day is Jan.8th. Well Dis just informed me that no she can not do that. Only if we were sailing in December. Guess I need to tell her that she can not go do the teen stuff. That means she won't be able to hang with Racheal.

There is nothing special in the kit that you wouldn't get from the boards or the website. What I have done is book the cruise on-board and then transfer out to AAA (I try to keep control as long as possible). The $50 or $150 (depending on room category) room credit is great.

Not sure if you know this, but I think Scott will need to get a form signed by his children's mother stating that it is o.k. for him to take the kids out of the country. It will need to be notarized. I remember reading that in the on-line check-in on DCL's site. Figure you'd want to work on that now instead of running around a couple of weeks out.

Thanks - I would say "oh to be 30 again" but I wouldnt mean it - At 30, I didnt have my kids, I worked 60-70 hour work weeks, and spent my weekends trying to find someone to be my life partner. At 40, I have financial security, a wonderful family (specifically my neice and 2 kids), a person to share my life with who truly loves me including all my faults, and a job that while frustrating at times allows me to come home and enjoy my life most nights.

Life is Good at 40!!

A toast to all 1967 babies out there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jessalynn

I am having a very hard time with turning 30 this year. I have never had an issue with turning a year older but this one is different. I have felt like I have not accomplished what I would like in my life so far and with all my health issues most of my life 30 could be mid life for me. But after reading your post I feel a little bit better, knowing that you accomplished those things while you were in your 30s. Thanks for the pick me up.

1967 was a great year!

When is your big day?

I don't turn 40 until Jan 2008, so I guess I can't be part of your group. :sad1:

As for turning older, my sister-outlaw turned 40 this year. She went away with her friends, didn't spend it with her family and didn't want a cake or anything. Can't accept getting older.

Suz and I are completely different. We just look at it as another day. You are as young as you make yourself feel. Give up on living and having fun and you will grow old.

We are happy with our lives. Both have good jobs, she has a great spouse (mine is questionable :rotfl: ), and we have a great son. It all depends on what you value or think is important. There is one of those "Successories" signs in DS's Eye Doctor's office. It is titled "Priorities" reads:

"A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or what kind of car I drove...but the world may be different becasue I was important in the life of a child."

Prioritize the things in your life. Your children and their upbringing and education should be your main concern, not what you have. If you get bogged down on where you are in life, it will be picked up by them. Always try to be optimistic.

Also, look at your circle of friends. Can you call them in the middle of the night and they would come over? Will they dropped something they had planned if you were in crisis? If not, they aren't "friends". Our circle of friends will be their when and if we need them and us for them.

I have a feeling that the thread will continue through a "Live from the DCL 10/20 KKCruise, here's... Timon!"

I wonder if anyone will come back to this thread just to say "hi" to each other.

Hi everyone I've been trying to keep up here by skimming through in between getting ready to leave for FL next weekend and all the end of the school year stuff with Rachel. It has been a busy, busy week!

Cheryl

Have a great trip Cheryl!!

I've been on the phone to my solicitor for most of the day:sad2: - house move put back yet another 2 weeks - at this rate Ellis will never get into that school:sad2:

I have got to the point now here I am sick of the whole thing. We thought we had it all sorted yesterday but still waiting on those stupid solicitors

Any update on the paperwork Karen? BTW, refresh my memory, what is the "solicitors" role in the whole home purchase process over there. Are they like Real Estate agents over here (list the home, show the home, etc.)?

Hows the thread count Jeff?
Are we still creeping up on the ones in front of us again?

We are less than 1,940 post from the next victim.

Update on "milestones", Nancy is 3 from 1,100, Carrie/Scott are only 7 from 500, and Tina is 4 away from 200.

THEY WERE TAKEN LAST YEAR:eek: - I dont look like that any more:rolleyes1

Yeah, but we've seen pictures since then with you and Ellis and you still don't look like you need to lose weight. You're just trying to make your tablemates look fatter.

Laugh it up everyone, Mr Borat disappears tonight!

SAVE BORAT!!! SAVE BORAT!!!

So here's a few questions for all of you. Maybe this should be a Yahoo poll, but here it goes anyway.

Who's printing their DISname on the back of their shirts?

Are you wearing your shirt along with your bracelet on Oct 20th for the DISmeet and in the terminal?

Are you wearing your shirt at the "Wino (sp?) DISMeet"?

Should Jeff be made to wear Borat's swimsuit as payback for what he did to me?

1. Probably not.
2. Bracelet yes, shirt - not sure (depends on what we plan to do for the picture. I will slip it on for the DIS meet at the Mickey Pool.
3. Yes.
4. I don't wear swimming suits, so why should I start now? :scared1: :lmao:

BTW...I had to remove Borat because I was posting on other threads over lunch. I didn't want anyone sending me hate mail.

Borat is offensive? :confused3 :rotfl2:

Speaking of space shuttles, STS-117 is taking off tomorrow, anyone in the area?
You can check out the launch online here:
http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/shuttle/main/index.html

Lets all pray for a safe launch of Atlantis tomorrow and their safe return

If everything goes o.k., that will help in keeping the 10/20 "L" on track. I guess they are launching tonight.

Just checking this works - I'm posting from my gym!

Arent you supposed to working out at the gym!!!

My thoughts exactly. :rotfl2:

I don't turn 40 until Jan 2008, so I guess I can't be part of your group. :sad1:

We'll let you join our 40 group - you're the baby of the bunch:goodvibes

"A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or what kind of car I drove...but the world may be different becasue I was important in the life of a child."

Lovely words

I agree - I have lots of aquaintances, but a few great friends

I wonder if anyone will come back to this thread just to say "hi" to each other.

Oh my goodness, I hope so! - I'll still check in daily, I consider you all great on-line friends, I talk to you lot more than most of my relatives:lmao:

Let me see....what do solicotors do?:scratchin ....Well, they work out the bill right at the start and its expensive, they apply for a few searches - eg land, water searches etc off the council, they get you to fill out loads of paperwork and then go through loads of paperwork from the other solicitor, basically they dont do a lot but charge you bucket loads of money for it:rolleyes:

The paperwork that the others solicitor that they promised faithfully to fax yesterday never arrived - suprise suprise, but a hard copy of half of it did arrive in todays post, so shes got part of it now:rolleyes: I cant stand not being in control, I'm a bit of a control freak so I feel totally helpless and frustrated at their incompetance.

Yeah, but we've seen pictures since then with you and Ellis and you still don't look like you need to lose weight. You're just trying to make your tablemates look fatter.

No.....I just suck my belly in and hold my breathe when I have a photo taken:lmao: - if the photographer takes too long I turn blue:rotfl2:

I did work out! - I did a 45 minute spin class with the devil instructor - works you much ahrder than some of the others - put it this way - most instructors take you to level 5 in diffulcty - she took us to level 8:scared1: , then I did a 45 minute aquaerobics class, THEN I checked out the internet while my legs recuperated:rotfl:

Good Morning Jeff!!

That's a great idea!! AFEG, can you get me an extra #1 pass??:rotfl2:

Jeff, How is your week off with DS going? Are you guys having lots of fun? Today his "grandma" comes right?

Have fun with her and DS today!!:cheer2:

Oh Chris - never mind..:sad2: :sad1: - you'd be suprised just how many bent agents there are out there:rolleyes: - most agents have dealers that they deal with regularly - they tend to get insider info:rolleyes1 I couldnt stand the one bloke that used to come into ours - asian bloke with about 6 different passports. He'd pull them out and say "I'll buy it under that name this time" - used to make me sooooo angry... He was probably claiming benefits under all 6 names aswell.

The agent wouldnt say anything cos he was her best client - he'd buy about 2 houses a month. I wanted to report him and I refused to deal with him. He asked me outright once why I didnt like him... - like it wasnt obvious!

Karen did you get your pack from DCL today?.....

No! - dont tell me..... you got one:rolleyes: - it'll be that posh concierge thing again:rolleyes1

Weigh in...

Didn't lose any, :sad2: but I didn't gain. That means I will be down next week.

Robin

Me neither:rolleyes: - oh well, keep trying for next week.

If I could find a gym with a restaurant and a bar, I might be tempted to join!!:cool1: :rotfl2:

Its a lovely place - big indoor pool, big outdoor heated pool with bbq and bar and loads of lovely sunbeds, restaurant and bar inside, kiddie play area, loads of different classes, tennis courts and squash courts and a 2 storey gym. They do evening events all the time such as chinese night, quiz nights, summer ball etc. Its quite a social thing rather than just a gym. You get people who go and never exercise!:rotfl:

Oh sure Paige, just rain on my parade of being the baby.

I say if you turn 40 within 6 months of either side of the cruise, you can be in the group. Sound good?

Robin, sustaining a week in a long term weight loss is fine. So is going up a pound every once and a while. You need to look at it like a stock/investment, you will have some great weeks, you will have some not so great weeks. As long as you are heading in the right direction overall, there is nothing to panic over. Good luck next week.

O.K., is it just me or does Karen belong to a Country Club and not a gym? :confused3

:sad2: Forgot to mention earlier - I dont know if any of you remember a while back I was talking about how dangerous the road is outside our house and the school and that several kids have had near misses cos of people parking illegally....well today a child got knocked down on his way out of school:sad1: ....I dont know how he is but his face was all cut up and an ambulance arrived quickly and took him off to hospital.

All because people cant slow down, park properly and walk 100 yards.

I wish they'd listened, I told the school, the council, the highways dept, the police and the traffic control warden. Nothing much was done. They'll do something now its too late.:sad2:

I am sorry if my question is out of place - please forgive me if you are offended - but how is the Disney about dealing with Alyssa? What I mean is - will they allow you to drop her off at the Lab alone if you feel it is best for her. Or will they accept her on all excursions. In my opinion they should allow you to make the decisions as you are the best person to determine what she is capable of doing/handling?

My neice who lives with me has a number of physical and developmental challenges - and I run into it a lot when people who dont know her try and decide what is best for her instead of letting me decide....

I think we are fortunate in our situation. Alyssa's sister Gabi has played the part of "Mom" at points in her life. Not because we want her to, only because she gets upset if adults and others misundersdtand Alyssa. She is able to help Alyssa with stuff that would otherwise require adults. We figured this out at times when Gabi was out of school sick or not at day care with her. We even noticed that they even come to depend on Gabi to do simple things for her. As much as we like Alyssa to be able to depend on her sister it breaks our heart that Gabi can't just be a kid. We have pushed school and daycare back to doing as much without Gabi because of this. I believe that my DW and I presume the kids will stick together when they are doing cruise activities and Gabi will step in for help if need be.

Fortunately Alyssa can do all things as well as others, we hope that she is able to partake in most typical kid stuff. Excursions and swimming for sure are handled by DW and I. Alyssa passed swimming 1 & 2 but she's a trainwreck underwater. :sad2: Never-the-less all vacations that include our children are about 1/2 as enjoyable as without. We (DW inparticular) tends to be more involved working with the girls than relaxing most of the time. We'll see if I can get her into the spa and if I can keep the girls busy for a while. :)

I believe most moms are like this. It's just in our nature. I'm sure you all will have an unbelievable vacation.

Missy and I are here at work and just commenting on Jeff's counting all our posts. I can't believe that she has more than me and I got her started!!!! I need to step it up!
Is anyone doing the Pirate excursion at Grand Cayman? I am thinking about it.

Good work by all the "losers". Even if you stayed the same or even up a tiny bit keep working. It will pay off soon!!!!!

Is anyone else out there to talk to me? Missy is over there working so I could pull ahead of her soon. I should be working but this is way more important!!!:lmao:

Where do we buy the trolley tickets in Key West? I think that is what we are going to do there.
