I know this isnt about the cruise - but we are now thinking of going to the Halloween party before the cruise.

Questions:

1. is it really all that much fun?
2. Tickets prices are around $35/person - is that all I have to pay if I go to Magic Kingdom at 7pm? or do I need to pay for a Park Hopper for the whole day PLUS another $35?
3. Anyone have pictures?

We think it's fun. It is capacity controlled, so there will be no more than 25,000-30,000 people tops, so you can get on all the rides pretty easy. The characters are in costumes and they pass out candy everywhere. There are special fireworks and parade.

What we have done in the past is NOT use a park ticket on that day. We'd instead go to a waterpark (if you have the plus feature) or relax at the hotel. The party doesn't technically start until 7:00, but you can usually get in around 4:30. It is an inexpensive way to go to the MK.

I'd have to look for some of our pictures. They are on the computer at home, so I'll have to look tonight.

I would stay value. The pools don't have a slide but you will be on the cruise in 1 1/2 months with a slide. Kids love pools no matter what.
Sounds like a perfect weekend.

Thanks for the reply.

I was thinking that as well since we will be in the waterparks for 2 days. Although, DS does like the slides.

Also, I'm not sure if Suz will want to go for it. She is use to the Mods (P.O. in particular) since those are the only ones we've stayed at. We'd be staying at Movies if that makes a difference (not sure how that compares to the other Values).

The $175 savings over 3 days is pretty big.

The only thing is, is that we'd probably be at the resort more this trip than others.

Decisions, decisions. :confused3

We LOVE MNSSHHP! We're going back on October 14th before the cruise!

hi guys, mike here. mom came home and seems to be doing well. thanks for the pixiedust. very stressful week.
lots of demons up at that hospital in cleveland. thats where i had my valves replaced 7 years ago. somewhere i picked up a staff infection that got into my blood and attacked the heart and ate the valves. it was very touch and go for a while.
while visiting my mom last week robin would walk down the hall and say"you were in that room and that room" shed look in the room and i told her "im not in there now" it was a scary time and she literally brought me back to life.
ok enough depressing stuff. we are ready for a cruise!!!!

cass, hows the house hunting coming? we have been away and not sure if we missed anything.
also i went on your website and was looking on your photos and realized there is a picture of our car with me standing next to it at the port. we owned that red car in the photo and that is where we parked so it had to be us. remember we got there about the same time as you stole our upgrade. haha. we will never let you forget that. we figure this time you will be holding kira so we can beat you to the upgrade line this year.:rotfl2:

I'm going to have to keep my wife off of this site. I feel guilty waiting so long to book a cruise and to boot hearing all of you doing tons of DS stuff before the cruise makes it worse. Made a snap decision to book the cruise last week - couldn't get any of the rooms we wanted so I settle for the front of deck 5 or something like that. Boy I hope I can switch that room out sometime before setting sail.

I didn't consider taking the family to WDW in front of the cruise, just trying to cut my teeth on the cruise itself. Anyone recommend doing land and cruise first go around? Sounded like a lot of work to me and scares the heck out of me. Until you spend the day with our two very hyper DS's 10 & 10, you have no idea what work is. Any opinions? I have not locked in my flights yet and would consider adding a day or two on land if it doesn't drive one insane.

random thoughts.... we love the all stars and pop century. we have stayed at the contemp, carribean. port orl ,before and they are all great but maybe its just the kids in us but we like the value resorts better.
halloween party is great!!!love the parade and fireworks. way better than the xmas party. but thats just us.
WE PAID OUR CRUISE OFF TODAY. TIME FOR A HAPPY DANCE.:thumbsup2
now we just have to figure out if we are driving or flying down.

Dyerneeds, how did you book your cruise? I booked mine through Sam's Club which seems to be connected to Expedia. We're noobs and didn't spend much time looking around. They gave us a date that we have to pay ours off on but led us to believe that we couldn't pay it off until then. When I asked if I could switch our room they said to check on our pay off date, something about a bunch of peolple don't make the cut and rooms pop-up.

LOL Mike! Yes, I just looked at the original photo, zoomed in and it definitely looks like the two of you! I had to laugh though cus it looks like you are leaning against the car WATCHING Robin unload heavy luggage :lmao: Let's not show that one to Robin! :rolleyes1

And no worries this time, the upgrades are all yours! We booked the cabin that we wanted so I am not even going to get in that upgrade line! ;) I STILL feel bad about snagging that last balcony just before you :upsidedow Okay, well I don't feel THAT bad  :lmao:

Off to Doctor for Kira's 6 month visit!

Jerk--

Are you wanting to fly out of Milwaukee or Chicago. We, of course, would have preferred going out of Mitchell, but found it was 50% less to fly out of O'Hare. I know some of our fellow cheeseheads got some good deal out of Milwaukee, but they were much more organised than we are. We are flying down Friday evening and flying home the following Sunday morning because our original flight was already cancelled. :scared: Are your 10-year olds twins? My DS will be 10 on the cruise as well. We live in the northern Racine, actually Caledonia, so we must be very close to y'all!

we used small world travel. i think we got it off of mousesavers.com

hey, i told her she had to unload the luggage cause i have a bad heart.:rotfl2: how many years do you think i can milk that surgery?:rolleyes1

I must have a rash - a Disney rash. This itching for a weekend trip down over Labor Day is really getting me going now.

We can get a Mod Resort for $116 + tx using AAA ($65.60 at AS-Movies, but we've never been to a value and not sure if we'd like it).

The airfare will allow us to get a flight in and earn miles before the flights for Aug '08 come up on Midwest (want to use FF miles for one-way tickets for the front end of the Repo cruise - can't do open-jaw. Suz and DS are just shy of where we need to be for 3 free tickets).

Pirate and Princess Party is going on that Friday night, so no need to buy park tickets, that ticket will suffice our need for the MK.

I looked into the free dining program, but it isn't calculating out to be a good deal. I must be doing something wrong. For PO-Riverside, it is coming up at $1,105 total. That included 1 day park hopper ticket. Even if I use the non-AAA discount for the room, I only come up with $835 ($145 x 3 + 12.5% tax = $489, plus one-day park hopper tickets = $346 total). Not sure what else is getting thrown on there. :confused3 If I use the AAA room rate, it would drop to $737. If we go for the AS-Movies, it would be down to $567 with the AAA room rate.

.

sounds like a great disney fix. we could use one. we are thinking of doing a niagra falls weekend in july. havnt been there for a few years.
its frustrating with robins new job, she doesnt get much time off yet so it has to be weekend trips.
we are thinking of doing wdw next march or april.

Victoria,
We are going out of O'Hare. We booked travel at same time as cruise. It may have been cheaper to bust it in two pieces but Expedia does all of the work and handles the flights, transport, whole shootin match. I guess we just show up, check our luggage and follow the yellow brick road connected by dots after that. Not sure we even see our luggage until we board. They don't secure the flights right away though so I was considering adding a day or two to the trip.

I must be across the street somewhere from you right now. I'm on the south side of Hwy K in Franksville and I go across the street and I am in Caledonia. My office is located here, it's about a 9 minute drive home on hwy V.

"Small world, but I wouldn't want to paint it.." ;)

Mornin :surfweb: Not usually up right now. Normally I take my little princess: back to bed and nurse and snuggle but I think she is done with nursing. She no longer wants it. :sad1:

My teeth are bothering me this morning, got two small cavities filled yesterday and they don't quite feel right :headache: Grrrr...now I am gonna have to go back AGAIN and get them fixed.

Anyone else grumpy this morning??? :rolleyes1

Not this morning but I am this afternoon. It seems that nothing is going the way I want it to today.

Where is everyone lately? Jeff? The Virginia duo? Rose? Abby? Cheryl? Paige? Steve?, Walt? Victoria? Robin/Mike? (OK, Robin did check in lately but we want to hear more funny stories Robin).

Let's see, if we were betting people we say we hear from...(insert name here) first. :rotfl2: Anyone want to play this game with me?:yay:

Ok, here's a story for you...

This one sounds pretty typical but, here goes.

It was our first cruise. We were crossing the river and you know how exciting it is when you come up over that last hill and see the ships in Port Canaveral... Well, we came up over that last hill and I said "Oh my gosh, Look how big it is." And of course Mike said, "I was hoping you would say that when we got to the cabin."
He's such a guy! (no offense guys) :rolleyes1

I got a million of them.

Robin

I have opinions on both for you. I did the land/cruise option when I was 13. We had 3 days on land and 4 days on the cruise. As a 13 year old I loved it except for the fact that I felt like I did not get to do everything in 3 days. So I was bummed out about that. Now as for this trip. We are only doing the 7 day cruise. To catch you up I am traveling with our family of 3 kids, 12, 10, and 5 and my parents. My health has been poor for the past few year, now improving, my mothers health is real bad. So to save on us we decided that it would be less stressful on us (the women) to only have to unpack and repack one time during the trip and not run around like chickens with our heads cut off. Part of me wishes that we are doing the land but I don't think the 5 year old would appreciate it at this point. We are planning and a land trip in another year or so, so we can spend a full 7 days. Hope this helps you some.

Oh our DS is 11. So maybe the boys can get together on the ship.
