We are also a Cat 6 on deck 6. Out of all my cruises this will be the first veranda for me. I thought about cutting back and doing an inside room or just a porthole. I have had both on other cruises. But I felt it was time to do it right this time. I am hoping that all the extra hours at work for myself and DH are worth it. :thumbsup2

Let me tell you - there's no going back! Once you have a balcony - you'll always want a balcony!

Welcome MinnMick :welcome: I have a DD Rachel who will be 13 when we cruise. She loves to make friends and has been emailing with some of the other girls that will be on the cruise. I'll let her know there is another girl on the cruise near her age. We are a family of 3. Myself, DH Al and Rachel. Welcome to the Konked Kruisers!

We saw your daughters post last night and I told my daughter about her. She is really looking forward to meeting her. Ok so what is the Konked Kruisers?

The very first cruise we ever did (DCL of course!) we had a balcony. Then our second was on RCL's Majesty of the Seas. We opted for an oceanview, as it was just a 3 night cruise. Big mistake! RCL's rooms are so extremely small. Since then, we've always had a balcony. This will be our 6th cruise, 4th on DCL.

Ok so what is the Konked Kruisers?

That's the official or adopted name of our thread! I believe it was either Nancy or Brenda who thought it up, but I could be mistaken. I believe it refers to a drink, and the fact that we'll all be "konked out" when we're on the cruise. OK, fellow KKers, please correct me if I'm wrong, or add info as needed! :goodvibes

I totally agree Cheryl, we too wish we'd bought it sooner. We joined after our DCL cruise in 2000. Do you go to the DVC meets on board? They're a fun way to hear any latest DVC news.

Welcome MinnMick! We too have a DD (Katie) who will be 5 on the cruise. She turns 5 this month! We also have a DD (Sammie) who will be 3 on the cruise. Sounds like there will be a bunch of 5 year old girls in our bunch!

Anyone been watching the Tudors on Showtime? It's been pretty interesting. We've really been enjoying the cable dramas, like Rome and Deadwood. Too bad they're over. (Though I hear Deadwood is trying to make a final movie to tie up loose ends.) I'm glad Sopranos is ending. I'm rather bored with it.

I don't even want to think about the cruise ending. It's so majorly depressing. We're going back to WDW for one more day on that Sat, 10/27. Should be real interesting the first time we have to pay for a meal! What - pay for a meal?! And where's my towel animal when we get back to our room at the Poly?! Sigh - that will be a sad day!

To Lindy & Chris - hooray for Manchester United! :woohoo:

G'night everyone!
I am so glad to hear that there will be a group of 5 year olds. Ours could use some kids her own age to hang out with. Does anyone have experience with the teen program. Our other DD will be 12 almost 13. Our travel agent booked her as 12 for the price but said when we get on board we could get her put in the teen group if need be. Is there plenty for a 12 year old to do or should we bump her up?

That is completly what I am afraid of. That is ok. The next cruise will be just my DH and myself to Hawaii for our anniversary and we will want one for that trip. That will be my second time for that one.

Ok so now I don't feel so bad. I have been telling my DH that I will be drinking most of the time (to help with stress) because my parents are coming on the trip also. That was before my mother just had major health problems. She is still planning on going but not only will I be taking care of our 3 kids but also her now. Is it true that DCL lets you bring your own drinks on board. Such as beer and wine if it is closed containers? :rolleyes1

Yes, the Country Inn & Suites! I almost forgot about that one! Thanks guys!

Jeff, I was looking for a 2 bedroom or 3 bedroom at Ron Jons and they had none available :sad2: I was hoping to try out that amazing pool!!

I doubt the shuttle will be launching that day, it gets moved around SO much but if it did...hubby would THRILLED!!!!!! It would probably make his entire year!!! :lmao:

Just busting in for a moment to let those of you who are still interested know that the argie has been updated.

Thanks! :goodvibes

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

YES its true, how wonderful :) we always bring on our own wine, for our room, it saves us quite a few $$$$$$

Off to work now ( yes on a bank holiday, i need the cash ;) , double time today)

Have a great day everyone......

Guess I'm the oddball (no comments Nancy) when it comes to the balcony.

We booked it on our first cruise, but then booked a Cat 9 on Deck 2 for the second cruise, only to be upgraded to a Cat 7 on Deck 6. The third cruise we had an SPH. The fourth cruise, this past January, we had Cat 9, Deck 2 and this one in October we have another SPH.

The balcony was nice, but we didn't spend that much time out there. Yes it was nice to have, but for the little amount of time we were out there, we decided the money is better spent elsewhere on the trip. We are up on deck or on shore so much that we didn't have much time to enjoy it. Yes we'd go on it every morning and then again in the afternoon before dinner, but never just sat out there to sit out there.

Suz would like to have one, but is perfectly fine without one and agrees to save the money. Now if we go without DS in a few years (like when he is out of HS - 11 years) we'd probably go back to trying it.

Guess I'm too cheap or value conscious.

I think Neil would be interested in the beer tasting but he's not really a wine guy. Wonder if it would be possible to get the 2 running at the same time? in the same place? We'd have a bigger group so Disney might oblige.:confused3

Tina, you are correct. It was Brenda who came up with the nickname. (I'm not that creative).:cutie:

Oh c'mon Jeff, not even one comment???:lmao:

So now I'm interested. I'm not a wine drinker but if there was a beer drinking contest, ooops, I mean Beer Tasting, I might belly up to the bar and join the boys. I also talked to my girls last night and they would be open to the Margarita Tasting, as would I. I wonder if they are all held in the same place at the same time. Cheryl? Jeff? Can you bust out a navigator and check for us please?:flower3:

I am a little scared though. All that alcohol and all those KK's in one room? That would be one heck of a DISmeet wouldn't it?:woohoo:

BTW..we still haven't decided on our first DISmeet yet have we? Or, how we will identify ourselves in the Port on the 20th. Anyone know how to do a "Poll" on our thread?:confused3

You know it never stops me. I'm surprised you didn't just post one anyways. :rotfl2:

I know they have a Margarita and Tequilla tasting. I'm not a "straight" tequilla drinker, but would definitely do different Margaritas. Maybe they could alter our tasting to be only the margaritas. They could do some on the rocks besides blended. :thumbsup2 But I do like my fooh-fooh drinks. (hmmm....maybe I should be joining in these female topics on this thread :lmao: )

My Little moo moo has done it again,Rosie went away on Friday to play in britains biggest girls footie competition with over 200 teams involved and due to other commitments i was unable to go with her and as they were only going "to take part" it was no big deal....yes you guessed it THEY ONLY WENT AND WON THE BLOODY THINGUNDER 12'S:dance3:  :dance3:

This will save us so much on our bar bill. My husband only drinks beer so I told him that he will have to go shopping the night before and put it in a suitcase. I will probably get a bottle of wine along the way, hmm can we travel with a corkscrew or is that considered a weapon now?
