I was thinking about booking a trip next year in October and noticed for Pop, most weeks the preferred rooms aren't available. Is this because people are booking with hopes that Star Wars will open?
We don't really want to be there when it first opens because of how crazy it will be, We could always wait until 2020, but I just want to go so bad lol. Is there any updates for when it may open? I've seen people saying Nov/Dec, and some saying Late Dec, I know it's not for sure yet, but could it open in October?

I may look back after the official opening date and maybe get lucky and see more availability in October if it's not opening then.

I think October is the new summer...and with all the deluxes being booked by Gartner towards the end of the month, it bumps people who might stay deluxe down to moderate, and so on and so forth.

Food&Wine has a big impact on resort reservations. The last several Oct/Nov trips we had to book 11 months out in order to get a Board Walk studio, one time we got shut out and had to upgrade to a Court Yard view and naturally we got hooked and now turn our noses up to a studio.

I think October is just...busy.

As far as SWGE is concerned, the rumor is that it won't open until around Thanksgiving, so I think you'll miss out if you go in October anyway. From what I've seen on the boards, a lot of people are booking in December with the hopes of catching it.

We've been in October before, and didn't find it too bad. We did the Food and Wine and Halloween Party. We really enjoy the Halloween time, which is why we were thinking of doing it again. I'm just hoping if we book or if spots open, we can miss SWGE lol. I will just keep a lookout, or just wait and go in 2020. We were debating between May and October, been both times and liked them both. We are doing Universal in June, so if we really wanted to go to Disney next year we would do October. Just worried we will hit the SWGE, or it will be even busier with people hoping to hit it. 2020 is looking a little better lol.

It may be because of Food & Wine. I know we made our reservation at the end of October for our five nights at WDW.

As Disney states, Star Wars is still slated for WDW opening "late fall, 2019." Fall lasts until the 3rd week of December...
Folks dreaming of an October opening are likely dreaming and will be terrible disappointed.

Oct is a busy month now! So no doubt its due to F&W.
