October 2015 - help with which week pls?

Hopefully my last question!

We can go from 3rd Oct (for 2 weeks) and have to be home by 18th. I know 12th is Columbus Day but wonder if there is anything else I should take into consideration? I just don't know how to chose dates, crazy, I know! Is there a "better" day to arrive/leave?

We've been those weeks the last two trips. Weather great. Crowds manageable. UK kids school holidays start from the 10thish!

Never really noticed the increased crowds on Columbus Day.

October is a great time to go. Shorts weather in the day with occasional requirement for a cardi in the night!

Oh and those halloween decorations are awesome!

Thanks for your reply. Its good to know you've had such a good time at that time of year!

Our schools come finish on 9th for 2 weeks but my kids have pretty much 100% attendance and are still in the early-ish years at school so I'd take them out the week before. I just can't decide if it's worth it or not, in terms of crowds and having a bit to get over the jet lag.

That's a hot topic these days!

We did exactly that. DD was doing well in school, excellent attendance blah, de blah! So we were happy for her to miss last few days before October holidays.

Now she is going into 3rd year that is no longer a consideration. We are looking at Jul/Aug 2015. High temperatures and high crowd levels.....it's a little scary!

Most kids are pretty good with jet lag and bounce back real quick!
