So can someone tell me the best way to transfer a reservation to make sure it is received.

You cant transfer the reservation, you can only coordinate the time you are going to cancel, so the other party can immediately pick it up.

Once you cancel the reservation online, it becomes available, so the other party should be waiting in the system to pick it up

there's no transferring. You just have to arrange a similar time to cancel and reserve. See the first page about the cancellation rules.

and yes, infants are included in the number
