***October 2012 Thread*** MNSSHP + Food & Wine - Does It Get Any Better?

Hi Gang...

We're going back to WDW this October. As we've only been one other time (May 2011), we're looking forward to the the F&WF and the MNSSHP. We're also planning to experience Dine with an Imagineer, Fantasmic (again), Illuminations (again), Wishes (again), and a partridge in a pear tree . I told Wookiepants (my significant other) that if he wants to do anything more, he'll have to take his OTHER woman because I'm too old & tired for that crap.

10 days park hoppers, 1/2 day Boardwalk, 1 full day DTD and so very excited to try this time of year.

Dates: October 21 - November 2
Resort: Port Orleans French Quarter

Package Booked - Down Payment done, Airfare Booked/Paid for...ADR's will be available on April 24th. We've already got our picks for each night. Now we're just waiting to see if we'll get any discounts this time, as we missed out on everything last year and paid rack rates on the whole trip. We had a blast in 2011, and are sure this will be an even better trip!

hi, I was able to switch things around, added a day @ Universal, now have enough points to stay @ VWL9/29 to 10/3. So convenient for MNSSHP nights, cannot wait.

I am waiting on my 25,000 points from SW. They said they would be in my account in 6-8 weeks. It's been two so far and I'm already growing impatient. I want to book my air already! I have enough to cover it roundtrip out of ISP for me & DBf and I don't want the prices to jump!

I have my calender marked for ADRs too (we are arriving 10/21 also) so I guess you are my competiton now? lol Have you been during October before? It is AWESOME! Especially toward the latter part of the month when the humidity dies down a little. Is it too early to start our "no-rain dance"?

Booked flights with Southwest for Oct 14, non stop to Orlando from Buffalo. Will land at 3 pm so hopefully will be at POP by 4:30. Wanted an earlier flight but believe it or not it was more expensive and had 1 stop over. I was shocked. Hopefully will be enough time to do EPCOT and Boardwalk. Being that it will be F&W I know we won't be able to do the park in 1 day and would like to split it up for at least a day and a bit.

To anyone looking to go to HDDR, I'm afraid it's not going to happen. I just saw on All Ears that it will be closed for refurb August 5 til Dec 31!

Hmmm! As you know I was concerned about the rumors so when I got online today I went to the Disney Dining site and randomly selected Aug 22 to check for openings and it came up as available?!?!?

Congrats on getting that deal...must be the Disney Visa deal,right? Don't worry about those dates, MNSSHP starts in Sept so you will have some your week as well. The weather will be hot, but that goes without saying. You're gonna have a great time!!

It ends on the 29th and we arrive the 27th so they extended for our whole trip. I am sooooo happy

It was the visa deal . I'm very excited for the trip and look forward to being added to this thread. Do I need to pm? Does anyone know where the thread from last year is? I can find the MNSSHP tips and tricks from 2010 but not 2011. I thought Berlioz70 had started it?

I doubt they would have even allowed it to be in the system if a refurb is true. That would be a headache notifying people that the reservation they made (and paid for!) is no longer valid!

I am at least hopeful that is the case. I need a HDDR night during my trip!!

True but they allowed people to book the Royal Rooms at POR, didn't finish them in time, and moved people to other resorts. Though if they moved me from POR to the Poly, I wouldn't be complaining!

They've taken it down since I saw it so maybe it was an unconfirmed rumor. Guess we'll have to wait and see!

Awesome to know that we're gonna be in Mouseland at the same time! I wouldn't say "competition"...maybe we're "Potential Dinner Mates"! I'm a bit of a crazy researcher, planner and pre-preparer. It drives my boyfriend nutz, but he ends up reaping the rewards. We've been together about 8 years...my advice to him about WDW is the same as everything else "Just show up and behave yourself." I take care of the rest.

I've never been during October. I've only been to WDW once before, in May of 2011, and we had the best time ever. Heck, we were planning another trip before we left the first time! My TA told me how awesome it is in October and how much there is to do. Wookiepants and I chose this time of year because of the weather, because many of the kids will be back at school (with hopefully less crowds), and because October in Maryland can be poopy, weatherwise.

The last time we went, I sent out a "Mouse Bulletin" email to my friends and family every day - detailing what we did and using pictures and stuff, like a newsletter. I pre-populated the emails with generic info about the parks, rides, resorts and stuff, and back at the resort I'd fill out the specifics and send it off. It's a lot nicer than a postcard saying "Weather's great. Wish you were here." Needless to say, I've gotten most of my Mouse Bulletins completed now.

I also have pre-purchased my PhotoPass because that was a super thing for us last time. I have spreadsheets, documents, instructions for house/cat sitters and everything else ready. I even have begun to pack one of our suitcases with things. I'm starting to slowly buy items for the trip as well. It's all part of the planning process which for me is almost as much fun as being there!

I hope you have a great time! Maybe we'll bump into each other! I'll be at the French Quarter and will see about attaching some lime green mickeys on my person or something!

We( me, dd, ds and sil) are going 10-26-12 thur 11-2-12 we are possible staying at POFQ if i get my way or other wise pop is what we are book for at the moment.

i am awaiting free dinning for our dates. i soo hope we get this will be our first ever trip and i am so excited.
