***October 2012 Thread*** MNSSHP + Food & Wine - Does It Get Any Better?

Booked our flights to Orlando. Hoping the price comes down a bit more so we can rebook and use the credit towards our flight back.

We are planning to tell our kids on EASTER!! We are going to Print a slip that says "We are going to Disney World December 2012" Cut the words apart and put them in eggs and hide them. Then when they find them they will have to work together and see what it says!

Oooh that's a great idea! I wish I could have waited to suprise mine but I was too excited. We told them 3 days after we booked and even holding it in that long was torture ;)

Wow...just found the boards and specifically this thread. I just booked a trip for myself and my triplets October 12th-21st. We are traveling in October to celebrate their 14th birthday. :wizard:

I'm looking for two ideas/suggestions.

First, I am trying to find a way to surprise the kids for their birthday. I've seen some of the in-room surprises that can be ordered ahead of time and waiting in the room when we arrive but they all seem directed toward an individual and I need something x3 that doesn't break the bank. Or should I be looking at a celebration at one of the parks?

Second, I have never really found the magic at Animal Kingdom. I figure I must be doing something wrong. We have rides that we love at AK but I feel bad that I don't love it like everyone else does. :confused3 I think I need a tour guide to walk me through and show me what I've been missing!

Any suggestions would be helpful. Just knowing I'm not the only person booking my trip so far in advance has put my mind at ease a bit!

Booked our YES class this week and got our tickets for Oct 13-20th. Now we HAVE to go!
Don't know where we are staying yet though.:rolleyes1 On a wait list for a 1 bdrm at any Disney resort.
If it doesn't come through I'll be watching for a good deal at POFQ or a Value if I have to.
Airfare has been awful! I have the SW Visa and was hoping to get 4 tickets out of it, but not at the current prices.:confused3
Going to have to get my restaurant choices made soon too!

Add me to your ranks!! So excited to be going on our first family trip to the World! Oct 14-20. Me, hubby and daughters 4,2&2. Staying at POR. :cool1:

PS. Come on free dining!!

Welcome! Looks like we'll be there about the same time.

My Grandson always likes AK- his favorite ride has been Dinosaur and the river rapids.
We also like to take all the paths that are sort of hidden to find different animals and such. There is so much we haven't done.
Have fun planning. There is so much to learn, but most if not all of the answers are here!

Welcome to all the newbies! I think I added everybody that mentioned dates & resorts...

.
First "fall" trip (we usually do May) so on the fence about MNSSHP. Can't wait to get more details from the experienced to help me decide!
Traveling with DH, DD (7) and DS(9).
.

I cannot tell you enough how much I love MNSSHP. I've been all of the MK parties: Halloween, Christmas, and when they had it the Pirates & Princess party. MNSSHP was my favorite. I think the parade is worth the admission alone. So much fun!!

Thanks for the welcome and the confirmation that MNSSHP is fantastic. DH doesn't want to spend the extra money but I may have someone buy the kids tickets for it for their birthday (will really be me but he'll never know!!) :rolleyes1
I think they would LOVE it!!! I wish the dates would be released SOON because I want to make ressies for the Pirate League for both of them and that would make it perfect - they'd be all garbed up!! Plus we could just dine in park during the transition, get our wrist bands and then go wait for the parade to start.
We'll have to see what happens!!!

Anyone know how far in advance they release the dates??? Also psyched the F&W is at the same time. Just makes Epcot that much more "appetizing"..... :rotfl: We did it once PRE kids. This time, being a parent of two I NEED to taset all of that wine! :lmao:

Word is that MNSHHP tickets usually go on sale May 1, and they release the dates in April. That being said, historically, MNSHHP has been on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday nights plus Halloween and Nov. 1.

There's no party on Friday??? :scared1:

We are suprising our kids with this Oct trip too. We arent telling them where we are going, just hopping on the plane and then they will probably figure it out when we walk up to the ME counter.

I don't think they usually have parties on Friday nights because they get pretty decent crowds on Fridays and Saturdays with all the locals that like to visit the parks, etc. then.

Congratulations!! I think you just described my DH's fantasy for vow renewal!! He would love to do it in Vegas and we love WDW....so that sounds perfect!!:lovestruc
Thanks! Im so excited! Hoping everything goes according to plan. We've been engaged for 3 years, lol. Time to take the plunge :lovestruc

Maybe you could tell people to get the kids Disney gift cards as gifts and use that toward the tickets? Disney gift cards always help :) My boyfriend and I asked for them for Christmas and our birthdays and so far we have $195 worth! It'll help a lot toward paying for our dining plan :thumbsup2

The MNSSHP dates usually get released around May. You can look at last year's dates to get an idea of when the dates will be this year. The party is usually on Sundays, Thursdays, and Fridays probably with a few more dates thrown in the closer in gets to Halloween.

Add us to the list please! We are going 10/13-10/23. Staying in Windsor Hills again, there are 6 of us and once the kiddos got bigger staying in the All-Star family suites wouldn't work for us. Although I will miss a little bit of magic being on property we are staying at a great place at a great price with LOTS of space and 3 bedrooms. So no complaints here!

I can't decide about the Halloween party. We went 4 years ago and even in the on again off again rain, it was still fun. The only thing that was cancelled due to the rain was the Villians stage show. I loved the parade and wearing costumes. :)

We are looking for a condo close to Disney and I am curious about the Windsor. We are looking at VRBO. Do you find you get a better price if you wait to book closer to your dates?
We are also looking at Wyndham.

:cool1: Whoo Hoo! I just purchased our airfare from Southwest. A tiny bit more than I wanted to spend, but thats okay. I'm so excited! I got the earliest flight in they had and that will get us in at 11:50 a.m. I cannot recall how long it takes from then to get to our resort, but I'm hoping it will only be about two hours or so. I want to make dining reservations at Boatwrights for late lunch/early dinner. We haven't been there before. And its only a 15 minute walk from POFQ. So excited so excited. What a good way to start the day. I also got the latest flight out SW had so we could get as much time in as we can while we're there. :thumbsup2
