***October 2012 Thread*** MNSSHP + Food & Wine - Does It Get Any Better?

Just wanted to jump on and say a quick Happy New Year to you all. We go to Disney this year! I saw a lot of new posts but work is crazy busy today so I don't have time to read them all. If I missed anything, get me up to speed ;)

We got the Game On Pin in the mail today, so I just booked our stay at the Poly for the end of Oct/beginning of Nov.
10% off isn't a ton, but hopefully there will be some better offers later in the year. I'm just so glad it's "official".

Happy New Year! party:

And I'm surprising the kids with the room! I did tell them we switched from POP to POR but they don't know that we're in a Royal Room. I'm so glad they did it like a castle room so it isn't incredibly girly! I wouldn't want the boys to dislike it.

They will LOVE it!

We are suprising our kids too. They dont even know about this Oct trip. We arent planning on telling them at all. Just going to the airport and hopefully getting to Orlando. We are telling the kids we are going to check out a school for DH to get his doctorate from (little do they know he is already enrolled and working on it somewhere else)

That is so exciting!!! I can't keep a secret that long so I could never do that!

Our kids know that we are going. There is no way I could keep it a secret. We are going to surprise them by flying to Disney this year though! We usually drive down. (It's about 9-10 hours.)

:goodvibes Oct trip just booked :D

Jenny105 - we are birthday twins! I am Oct 5th as well - AND this year is a special birthday - not 30th (unfortunately) but my 40th! And I'm spending it at WDW - could it be any better?

Staying 27th Sept to 11th Oct at CSR - first time staying on-site & havent told the kids yet - soooo excited!! :cloud9:

I decided to triple-check the dates with my in-laws before booking our package, and . . . my SIL hadn't checked her work schedule (she's a teacher) and has parent teacher conferences the week we're supposed to travel! (I wish I'd known this before I spent HOURS pricing out a vacation for 10 trying various flights, hotels, MYW packages, etc.) So it's back to the drawing board for me, and we might end up slipping from the last week of October into the first week of November. I hope not.

This might not be the best place to ask, but you all seem very Disney knowledgeable. If I'm in the wrong spot, please point me in the right direction.

A couple of questions:
1) Is Disney sending and perks/premiums with package orders right now? (E.g. we'll get our tickets, luggage tags, and a Disney print or bag or something?)
2) I know a good travel agent will be on the lookout for better deals to apply to our package if they become available. How do I do that myself if I decide not to use an agent? Do you just go to the WDW travel website and check the special deals? Then I can just call the regular travel phone # and get the deal applied to my trip?

Thanks in advance!

Awesome! I look forward to your review of POR and pictures! That is where me and my kids (and my parents) are staying in Sept! :woohoo:

Woo finally caught up, 53 pages takes awhile to read. We suprised the kids with Christmas trip, it's nice to be able talk openly about this trip. This was our second stay at POR and we booked Oct 21-27 for number 3 in a royal room. We love POR because of the beautiful trees and the river and the wild life just makes the resort feel so secluded and private. It's such a wonderful place for down time and a break from the park. There is alot to do there too. You can swim, fish, bike, horse drawn carriage rides. They have lots of pool activities, marshmellows roasts and outside movies. The food court is good and Boatwrights is fantasic. You'll love it. I'm excited to see the new room for my two princesses.
Next I gotta try and read through some of these PTR.

Awesome!!! I'll be there just a few weeks before you. Me and my kids (and my parents in their own room! lol) are staying at POR! My kids know about our trip BUT they don't know that we're staying in a Royal Guest Room! They look so amazing. POR looks amazing! I've never stayed on Disney property before so I just can't wait! :cheer2:

My PTR link is in my siggy! :) :woohoo:

I'm not sure what you mean by the first question. As for the second question, if you decide not to book with a TA, you will have to keep track of the offers yourself. Disney emails TAs new offers so they know about it right away. If Disney doesn't advertise it on tv or via email to past guests, you may find out about it too late and not get what you want. It happens!

But the week we will be staying in a timeshare through my parents. Probaly sheridan vistana.

WOW...this thread is LONG! I am going to apologize now for not being up for reading the whole thread, but I would seriously fall asleep after about 10 pages.

We are planning a trip for Oct. 26-Nov. 4 and will likely stay at POP. Hoping to get free dining, but we'll be going discount or not.
