***October 2012 Thread*** MNSSHP + Food & Wine - Does It Get Any Better?

:wave2: We're down there the same date same resort too! :) It's our first time at POFQ. Fingers crossed we all get the ADR's we want Monday morning.

:yay: It's our first time as well! We stayed our first trip at Coronado and I wasn't terribly impressed, the bugs in my loofah every morning may have had something to do with it  and in January we stated at Riverside and loved it. I'm anxious to see what FQ is like! I've been mapping out my itinerary since last evening and I think I have it about done... I think. We have the deluxe DP with hopes that the FD will come out and we'll only have to pay for the upgrade... fingers crossed!!!

We're in for Oct 13-21st. This will be our second October trip, but our last trip was at the end of October, so we got to see Christmas decorations too (early November).
Looking forward to MNSSHP and F&W. No idea on costumes for this year- last time we were Peter, Wendy and Tinkerbelle. I loved the interactions with characters while we were dressed up- we went and saw Tink and she was mean to me! It was funny!

I have to tell you- last time we did quick service dining, and upgraded to regular dining this time. I am TOTALLY overwhelmed with dining and reservations! We'll be there for our anniversary, so we want to go out and do something special too!

ETA- Staying at Pop again!

Ok, been trying to figure it out and I'm lost...what is WBC?

For those staying at POFQ, I hope you love it. That was the first place hubby and I stayed. We have stayed at CBR and didn't love it like we loved POFQ. So far, POFQ is our favorite mod resort.

Hi Andrea, just curious about what you have planned to celebrate your anniversary. Disney is the best place to celebrate that special event!!
Happy Planning! pixiedust:

No idea yet! I think that night is EHM at MK, but I can't remember. Probably try to get someplace nice to catch Wishes, or else someplace nice to catch Illuminations!

So...did anyone else have an "Oh shoot!!" moment this morning and totally forget to be on the phone right at 7am?! It was 7:20am and I was making breakfast and getting ready for work when I had mine today! :rotfl2: After months of planning, 180+10 arrives and I'm off my stride.

Well needless to say, I got everything I had planned for to the minute except for three which were only off from 5-15 minutes. Here is our gameplan for ADRs:

10/20 dinner @ 'Ohana
10/21 breakfast @ The Crystal Palace; early dinner @ The Plaza Restaurant (before MNSSHP)
10/22 lunch @ Le Cellier Steakhouse
10/23 lunch @ Biergarten Restaurant
10/24 late lunch @ Afternoon Tea at Garden View Tea Room
10/25 early dinner @ The Plaza Restaurant (before MNSSHP)
10/27 lunch @ 50's Prime Time Café

'Ohana and 50's PTC are firsts for us and we are excited about trying them! I could do without GF Tea but it is a tradition and my parents really love the experience. I feel the "experience" and food offerings have gone down hill over the last few years. Plaza is a new favorite since me and DH's last visit to WDW. I loved the chicken sandwich and tomato soup! Figured this is a better option than Tony's (what we used to do before MNSSHP after LTT stopped offering characters).
So how did everyone else do today with their ADRs?? :wizard:

Might I suggest stopping by Poly and ordering some adult beverages and then heading to the Poly beach and grabbing a seat and watching Wishes there? We've done this before and it is REALLY romantic! :lovestruc

Did you make reservations over the phone? I got all I needed except Garden View Tea room online. Not sure if they only do ressies online?

Great ADR's! I slept in a bit this morning (well, my baby did and I was not about to wake him, even though I was lying right beside him itching to get up and make my ADRs! :rotfl:) and made mine online around 8:30 Eastern time (7:30 here). I still got everything! And same here - a few things were just 15 minutes off of what I requested. :cool1:

We'll also be at Ohana for dinner on 10/20!! It's our first time trying it, too, and I think it will be a great way to kick off the trip! We LOVE 50's PTC  ! It's so much fun and the food is fantastic. I always get the fried chicken and S'mores.

Anyone else make theirs today?

I'm so excited--I just booked our trip last night! This will be my DS4's first trip, and we can't wait to share Disney World with him! In addition to me, DH and DS, my mom, dad and brother will be along for the ride. :yay:

Here are our plans:

Accommodations: The Cabins at Ft. Wilderness
Oct. 14--Arrival, Epcot (afternoon), dinner at Garden Grill
Oct. 15--Epcot, lunch at San Angel Inn
Oct. 16--AK, lunch at Tusker House, Chip n' Dale's Campfire Singalong at 7 p.m.
Oct. 17--MK, lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern
Oct. 18--MK, lunch at Crystal Palace

Even though I booked our package last--and therefore didn't get the plus 10 for ADRs--I had no trouble getting the meals we wanted. We decided on mostly lunches so that if DS is worn out and cranky, we won't have to worry about missing a dinner ADR.

I also lucked out in a huge way--when I called to book our package, I had a PIN for free QS dining! We upgraded to regular dining, but that means it's only costing us $20 per adult, per day. Yaay! The CM said this was the first time he's seen that PIN pop up. We are now coming in WAY under what we originally budgeted for this trip, with the PIN and after deciding to share a cabin with the whole family instead of getting an ASMu family suite for DH, DS and me!

Now...there's nothing to do but wait for October to arrive!

I really love this idea for celebrating an anniversary!

We are staying DVC so could only make my first night online; had to call to schedule the rest. I hope they fix that stupid issue!

Anybody know what's going on with DHS on the 25th? The Disney website lists a park closing time of 6pm but the travel agent calendar lists the normal 8PM time. The 25th was our Fantastmic night, but with ADRs tomorrow I need to know if I need to make a last-minute move around of days.

This past Friday was our ADR date and we got everything we wanted :cool1:

Oct 17 - Ohana dinner
Oct 18 - Kona bkfst
Oct 19 - Via Napoli dinner
Oct 20 - Chef Mickey bkfst

The travel agent calendar tends to be more accurate than the one on the website. I'm going to stick with it and plan for an evening at DHS with Fantsmic! on the 25th. I can't imagine them closing DHS early two nights on the same week, though I suppose it could happen. Last year during the same week, they actually added another Fantasmic! on that Thursday and extended the hours to 9pm. Also, all the crowd calendars are saying it is NOT a recommended day so it could happen again if there isn't a special event.

Yep. That is why we get there at 3:45 so that we can enter the park right at 4pm. This is especially important if your costumes are related to characters that won't be available during the party. You can read more about our experience from last year's party here...

I just read that thread...what a super fun memory for you guys!

Alright, no need to enter panic mode yet then, gotcha.

I cant believe I JUST found the Oct thread!!! I have been planning this trip since May 2011 and finally someone to talk about it with!!! :)

We have been to disney several times, but this is our first going in Oct and MNSSHP!!! SOOOO excited!!! We have already purchased our costumes... my boys are going to be pirates and the girls Minnie mouses. I will be a cat, my husband is wearing a big inflatable pirate hat and grandma who is going along is going to be a wizard.

This will be our first offsite trip... with a family of six, we just couldnt make onsite work at this point and will be staying in a house in windsor hills. Very anxious to see how that is going to be!

Since we arent staying onsite or doing the dining plan, I only planned two ADRs, at the kids' requests... Garden Grill for dinner one night and Cape May for breakfast. I made ressies for a couple days and will cancel the ones I dont need when I have a better idea of weather closer to. I dont want to get major rain on our MNSSHP night!!! Anyone else worried at all about that?!
