October 2011 Car Rental Rates

I have a midsize car through Dollar for $258 with taxes. October 1-11, 2011
Still hoping for a bit of a reduction.

I usually rent through Alamo, but October rates are just shy of $400 through them. I'm hoping October rates will mimic September rates and come down.

Yikes, hotwire jumped a LOT for my dates. It was at 18.95/day and now it's 28.95 per day. My cancellable reservation with budget is $25 cheaper now.

I booked back in March with Alamo for mid size ($350) and rates have not come down yet hoping for a last minute better rate.

Just booked Alamo from Sept 30th - Oct 8th for $90 for the week plus tax. Total was $143. The was for an 8 day rental. Hope this helps.

I just rented from Dollar, through their website, no code used for a total of $292.76. That's an incredible price!!!! Renting from Sept. 29 - Oct. 17, that's 2 weeks plus 4 days. Needless to say I am very happy.

we only rent at the dolphin now, so our choices are limited to alamo or national.
that's a great rate - we're going 10/9-18, but i might shave a few days off the end of the rental to keep it at 8 days.

I've got a full size SUV 9/30-10/8 from Alamo with Visa code and coupon for $272. Same code and coupon gets a fullsize for $138.

Nice, I forget about the visa offers. Looks like MasterCard has the same offer for Alamo.

Visa codes for 10/1-10/11 with Alamo come to $288. My dollar rate is still $30 cheaper.

At least you are seeing your Alamo rates come down. My mid-size rate has been holding steady at $320 since June. They must think I'm crazy to pay that I paid $145 for two days more for our trip in May.

This is our first time going in October; so I'm used to lower rates. I remember in Feb when I was planning for our May trip that I was annoyed that my rates were originally over $200. What I wouldn't give for $200 now! I'll keep looking...

I just got a Free Day Coupon through Emerald Club at National that brought our rental ( October 23 - 28 ) to just over $200 with all the taxes and fees, as well as Emerald Club and a Sam's club discount. I don't think I'm going to get it down any further, but I'm going to keep trying!

I also got the free day from National. It was in a thank you email directed to us for our most recent rental at MCO (mid-August). I printed my email with all of the info on it as I think it might be required. You might want to do that too. I think this is a one time use coupon (sort of like the ones we get in our EA account). I will use mine for a one day rental for our trip to the airport from home. We do this often when we have an early flight and we don't want to bother the family at 5:00AM. This was a great one day free coupon as it has no requirements like a Saturday night stay, nor a 3 day rental. This coupon was just like the ones I have in my account. The email was from the manager of National at MCO.

I noticed another poster posted their free day coupon, but when I tried it, it says it's already been used, so it too was a one time use coupon, and may require the email attached to it.

DH got one too re July rental from MCO, in form of thank you. I had to laugh as he opened it and couldn't wait to show me to apply to existing reservation. I got bragging rights for existing $35 coupon that was better bottom line.

(btw, fine print says you can't add to existing res. but i priced it out just fine and email did reference his ExA #)

I have a midsize reserved at Alamo for a total of $132 for 9 days beginning the 25th. I don't consider a Toyota Corolla 'midsize' but Alamo does... lol
