October 19, 2008 4 day Bahama - anyone else?

I've had a little bit of free time today (should have been catching up on some work), and I've created a "business card" that John and I will have with us for the meet. It has my DIS name, our first names, where we're from, our cabin #, email address and the date of this cruise. I've thrown in a couple of graphics as well. I created it in MS Publisher, and can print 10 to a page. I'll try to post it up-- we'll see if that works.

Are others doing anything similar? Or, would you like a similar file made for you to print and have available for distribution??

Since this is our 1st cruise I have no clue about these things. Do they usually come out about 4 weeks before? I booked thru AAA so it may take a little longer till they send it to me.

I'm starting to try to get things together a little bit, but don't really have any place to set up the suitcases and start packing, so that will have to wait a little. If I get stuff out too soon it stresses out the cat & dog, cause they seem to know that something is up.

I'll let you know when we get ours and then you can start harassing your TA!

You are almost exactly across from my parents (my mom is the one who made our fish extender I posted earlier). They are in 6634. If you run into her coming or going from her room, you should freak my Mom out if you run into her and tell her you saw her crafty work on the internet. She can barely email. She'd be thinking about that one for hours...better not, LOL!

Cool! I will most def compliment her on the beautiful FE.

We got #6521 which is a sideways cabin? Well at least that is the way someone described it on the board...we booked a 12 and this said its an 11 so I am guessing this is good....I am getting so excited!

Yesterday was a dreary, rainy day here, so I spent a lot of time on the computer catching up on work. While I was doing all my data entry, I had the DIS podcasts playing in the background, and they are great! I've never taken the time to listen to them before. Well...now I'm wishing I could go on the podcast cruise in May! They have some great deals, but I just can't imagine doing another cruise so soon. Here is the link if anybody else is interested:

Hi everyone!! Sorry to be MIA. We have a lot going on here. I was to go back to work at the end of August from having our baby and work is really making it difficult. In fact, they did not keep my position open for me to return nor consider me for another position that came open while I was on leave. They are offering me one position from 2am –9am. Then work started to harass my husband by changing his work hours and now by maybe not letting him take his vacation for this cruise. Filing for FMLA so they have to let him take the week off, should work out fine.[We work at the same place but they cannot discriminate as I am not my husbands boss, but they do anyway against Colorado law. I even went as far as to file a claim against them with the state. We have mediation the week before we leave for the cruise so maybe we can settle. It is a very large and well-known company you would think they would abide by the laws better. But they do not.]

So we are back on for this cruise, until I am told to believe otherwise. Deck party here we come. Mike and Tart I am ready for the doc dance with you. (hope grandbaby is doing well). Hoping to get our travel documents soon. I eagerly check the mail daily. Can’t wait to meet you all. I am starting to set things aside to pack. Pam, I really like the business card idea, you are so good. As of right now we are in room 2508.

did everyone get the notice from their travel agent that disney has changed the itinerary?? it appears now we are getting our day at sea first, then nassau, then CC. we liked it better the other way. with that day at sea last, it gave you an extra chance to go to CC if the weather happened to be bad.
(that happened to us before)

since we are getting close, i thought i'd share the story of my wifes dis name..
TART ANNIHILATOR..
before our last cruise oct 07 we had been on the dis for a while chatting with
our future cruisers. one day i was telling the story about after the kids had moved out, robin and i sold our house and downsized into a condo.
well one day a friend of mine was visiting and he saw one of our neighbor girls
(ladies) and commented.."i know her , she's a stripper at a nearby club"

well then, since she had red hair, robin and our daughter decided to nickname her Cinnamon. and its been a joke around our place for a few years.

as luck would have it, around that time a new disser arrived and introduced
herself as BIG RED. seems she had a fondness for guys with a (slightly )bald head and she really digs a guys with a scar.
(since my heart surgery in 2000, that fits me to a T)

on the dis, this bigred seems to have fancied little old me.

well another of our disser friends called her a TART and did everything she could to pick on BIGRED.
then robin got into the act and changed her dis name to ...
TART ANNIHILATOR and its been a running gag ever since....

Hi all,

We will be on the cruise also, our first! Myself (Doug), DW (Kim), DS Nick(8) and DS Andrew(12). We're from Avon (near Indianapolis) so I'm happy to see some other Hoosiers will be there. We will be at Dolphin and Swan Oct 16-18th, then off to the Bahamas!

I have been reading the DIS forums and my head is just spinning with all the good tips....I don't think I'll ever remember them all. I'm also starting to think I'll need a small mule train to take all of the fun items people have suggested!

I'm still learning about things like Fish Extenders (boy was I relieved when I found out what that meant...) so I'm still not sure what our exact plans will be. We'll definitely try to meet fellow DIS'ers though, and will be at the DIS meet.
