Is there anyone here not buying the insurance for the trip? I haven't bought the insurance yet :(

We did buy insurance. After our last experience in May where DH got Pnemunia 3 days before we were to fly out to the boat and we had to cancel, we decided given it is the start of the flu season and end of the storm season, we would get insurance. But there are a lot of season cruisers in our group that can give their experience. I probably spent too much on our insurance.

Laura, you sound just like my family. I am not sure I will ever go on a cruise without insurance, it sure came in handy for us. I think I probably also spent too much on it, but I wanted something that would pretty much cover anything....you never know what might happen.

I just called The Perfect Gift and ordered two sand buckets full of stuff for the kids. They are going to be so excited when they get on the ship.

I need to go shopping this weekend and get the boys some pants for dinner. Neither of them have anything that they can wear in the restaurants at night since they have been wearing shorts for six months and have grown many inches!

We also bought insurance. My husband and I both work for an insurance company (although it is a Workers' Compensation company, so unrelated), therefore not buying just seems like "tempting fate".

Beansf - I agree with the tempting fate. I manage the Risk Control Department for an insurance broker so we bought it as well. Who do you and your husband work for?

Christine - What did you get in the Sand buckets for the kids? I was trying to figure out if I wanted to do something. I still don't get why people order food baskets, when they have so much food on the cruise already.

I did get some food - gatorade, cookies, candy for the movies. I also got a paddle ball set (which they are splitting between the two buckets), a frisbee, and a water ball. I think I also got some type of refillable cup for each.

I thought that buckets would be great for Castaway Cay but was really on the fence until I read the thread about how Shirley helped that family this weekend. That helped push me over the edge to spending the extra money. I know the boys will be really excited when they get in the room and see the buckets!

We work for the quasi-governmental State Comp. Ins. Fund of CA. Although the Governator tries to control us in some aspects, we are fully self-supporting and do not add to/take from the General Fund.

Do you have to talk to them over the phone about what is available? I looked at their website and it was lacking in details.

Yes.. that is what made me think about it as well. Shirley really does seem like a nice person and would like to help out by placing an order as well. I was just stuck as to what to order.

Never did think of gatorade. DD would love that.

I placed my order yesterday for 2 baskets for the kids and one for our anniversary! The 'Monster Mash' halloween baskets from last year looked cute...can't wait to see them in our room on the 17th!

Here's some of the stuff I'm asking for in my kids' baskets:
Monster Mash - Pumpkin pail
Beach shovels, sand toys
Bath Toy
Princess toy or little makeup set (likes Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, Cinderella)
Juice Boxes
Gummy Snacks
Candy Ring Pops
Insulated Sippy cups that attach to belt
Glow necklaces
Pirate stuff: tattoos, eye patch, gold earring
Other Halloween themed stuff

Hi guys.. 38 days! How Awesome!!

We will be buying some stuff from off-ship to surprise DD on the ship, I think... but love the idea of the sand buckets.. we got one at Castaway Cay the last time and we liked doing it so maybe we'll do it again this cruise.. no point buying a sand toy to lug across the atlantic..

I've got my pre-trip report up, just bits and pieces.. here:) so come check me out..

I'm so excited that we're leaving in just over a month....wheeeeee!

I called and talked to Melody as Shirley was out. She was sooooo helpful. I gave her the ages of my boys and she went through different options and prices with me. It was actually her idea to split up the paddle ball set to minimize any potential for fights.

I know the California State Fund well. I have 12 claims specialists that work for me and deal with property and casualty claims for our clients.

I know Shirley has already proven to be the most deserving person but this latest act of generosity and compassion on her part brought tears to my eyes. I am thinking about ordering a gift basket for my in-laws for their 50th anniversary which is October 16 but we are celebrating on the cruise. I'll have to take a look at what Shirley has on her website.

Good morning guys!!! (or evening for those on Pacific Time!!).. I don't believe we're already... 37 days!! :)

Just wanted to share the joy!

The website does not really do a good job of showing what they have. I am thinking about doing a basket for my parents as well since this is their first cruise and Melody had all kinds of options that were not on the website.

There's a farmacia right there at the pier in the Punta Langosta mall. I remember seeing it as we were on our way back to the ship in November. I was looking around as we were waiting for an elderly gentleman to go ahead of us on the escalator... an elderly gentleman who I noticed had a really cool vintage Mickey 'hawaiian' shirt on... an elderly gentleman who turned out to be... ROY DISNEY!!!!! :earsboy:

Hey Angie!

We sat at the table next to Mr. Disney for dinner every night. I was amazed at how many times they were in the dining room. He was on board to present his film "Morning Light".

I have pm'd you a question about dining...sorry to bug you but I believe you KNOW EVERYTHING about Disney Vacations!!!!

Have a fantastic October cruise!

Les

So am I the only one that has booked a CAT 12 room and anxiously awaiting to see what I get? I am checking the website :surfweb: and waiting to hear from my TA (as a matter for fact, I might bug her today about it) :rotfl2:

I see upgrades offers and assignments for those traveling on the 10/10 cruise, so hoping we hear this week.
