October 17, 2009 Western

Just paid off the trip today:woohoo: Although, I guess "paid" is a relative term, since it's now on the Disney Visa & I have another 6 months to pay it off:rotfl: But, it's official & I can now book everything at 75 days out.

Jennifer - I know what you mean about info overload. I had gotten the same way, so was staying away from the boards. Now, I'm trying to catch up - want to at least know about the things that I have to get tixs ahead of time for - like the tea, DD7 will be disappointed if I don't go since I already told her about it.

Now I just need to get the Hyatt at MCO booked for when we come in Fri night & book a car service for Sat morning to get to the port. Next on the list to do!

Hey Twinsr241...
Just saw your post stating your kids ages...My husband and I will be traveling with our 2 kids...daughter will be 8 and son will be 5 (turns 6 in December). Looking forward to meeting you all.
We'll be paying off the trip this week...maybe it will seem more "real" at that point. My initial excitement from booking it has faded somewhat. Plus, I felt like I was looking at all the posts so much that I decided I wanted to stop and let some things be surprises on the ship...I think I was on information overload so I've been staying away from the boards.

Jennifer

I guess I can understand the initial hype letdown. My sister-in-law has forbidden me from telling her any surprising facts. She does hava Passporter now and is also on information overload. Don't dispair. Once you are there and living in the moment... it's gonna be so great! Now I live with hype 365 days a year until I get my next DCL "fix!" We are now 86 days away. Way into the double digits. Soon it will be 60 days , then 30, the 2 weeks! The cruise documents will arrive and your excitement level will shoot up again! Then the PACKING!! :rotfl:I can't wait!!

WellAell I am just having a scary thought, well a scary thought for me anyway. I am a baseball nut. On top of that I am a absoultly huge Dodger fan. The way they are playing, they will be in the post season for sure. DCL better be showing playoff games in Diversions or I am going to be one unhappy cruiser. One thing is my wife wlll know right were to find me if the games are on. At least if they make it to the World series I have the ESPN club at Boardwalk after the cruise.

Just saw this on another board...

<< Delta and Northwest Airlines: Save $5 when you check bags online
For tickets purchased on or after July 16, 2009 for travel on or after August 4, 2009 there will be a $5 surcharge on each of the first two checked bags when checking in via ticket counter, kiosk, or curbside. There is no surcharge for bags prepaid during online check-in. >>

If anyone is flying Soutwest you should check your flights. I just happened to check mine for no reason and now have a credit of $128!:cool1:

We are currently holding a couple credits with SWA. One is for $2.80 and the other is for $1159.20!!! I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to use them before they expire on April 18, 2010. Our October flights and April flights for the Transatlantic cruise have already been taken care off. My husband will have no additional vacation time in 2009 and 2010, so a $50 6-month extention wouldn't do much good. Ebay no longer allows the sale of these credits even though they are transferable. :confused3

Yowsa, that's a huge credit to lose! How about a vacation without hubby? Probably not too practical with 6 kids! Maybe you could use them to have your parents or other loved ones come visit you for the holidays or even send them on a vacation as a gift. Worst case scenario you may be able to donate the credit to a charity and take a tax deduction.

Alan - DH will be right there with you. Though the Dbacks are shooting for last place, but any baseball game is a good game in his mind. We had Season tickets to the Dbacks in 2001 and had got the option for World Series tickets. We also had a WDW family reunion planned for late October/Nov. Unfortunately due to all the events in 2001, the World Series got pushed out until later so we decided to sell our tickets and go to WDW. We watched the world series game 7 in the ESPN club with all the Yankee fans. It was fun.

If you think you are going to lose the credit with us I highly recomend writing in to our customer relations department. Tell them your story and see what they say. I can not gaurentee that they will do anything but it never hurts to try something right?

Well I am deffantly not a Dback fan but if you are playing the Yankees if love that team. I think the only way I will root for the Yankees is they play the Giants. I will never, ever root for the Giants.

Shannon? Are you lurking out there? How's your summer going?

I've been thinking there's no way we can afford a Disney cruise next year. If my dad doesn't really take us with him on his cruise, we might just give Carnival (gasp) a try. Some of the reviews, from people with families, are favorable. Or maybe, we'll do another parents' only cruise.

For conversational sake, and I hope this isn't too personal, what is (or are) your favorite magazine (s) or periodical(s) these days?

woohoo:cool1: Just checked our reservation and we got Main Dining :cake::banana:

Laura

Yay!! We've got Main Dining too!!

Sorry I've been missing the last few days guys.. As you may know, our family was moving from Oslo in Norway to Aberdeen, Scotland. I had to wait in Norway for a bit because of the processing of a permit to allow me to live in the UK and so we waited and waited and something that takes 5-15 days took nearly 2 months to process!!! So finally FINALLY, yesterday we moved to Scotland - me and my little girl - joining Daddy :) YAY!

We obviously had to close the internet connection at home so I couldn't post!!

We will fly to Florida in October from here.. (and maybe Wendy will be on th same flight? don't know.. haven't seen her for awhile..!)

So now you know :).

Going to catch up with the chit chat..

Saw a QOTD about magazine reading... I'm not reading any except Scrapping Magazines (going to be published in 4 magazines this autumn VERY EXCITED).

:) HUGS!! *missed you guys*

Oh, my gosh. Talk about upheaval! I'm sorry to hear how long you and your daughter had to wait and to be separated from your husband and her daddy. It must have been a joyous reunion for your family. How do you like your new home? Did dh set up the house while you were in Norway? Or, will you have weeks of unpacking and setting up to do? I know you told us, but which is your country of origin?

When we were younger, dh was offered contracted positions overseas. It was tempting! I can't remember why we didn't go. Maybe, it was because he had a steady job already, and the jobs were in countries where it wasn't safe for women to go out alone. Now that his company is most likely going to close and dh might have to consider jobs out of our area -since jobs here are scarce, - I wonder if he'll be offered a job overseas. I wouldn't mind a couple years adventure.

My favorite magazine is Mental Floss.

Hi there Monica..

I am originally from Singapore :). DH did NOT set the house up so I've got weeks of sorting ahead of me (YIPPEE!) ... I'm sure it will take a bit to get organised but the house is really lovely and I'm looking forward to 'settling in' for good - for now. I hope we'll be well on the way by the time dd starts school at the end of August... MOST important!

We've moved a few times in our lives together - from Italy to UK to Canada to Norway .. so upheaval is the name of the game but never 'easier' as people like to say... every move is different and every MOVING COMPANY has it's own 'THING' grrr...

Mental Floss -- is that REALLY the name of a magazine? Awesome!!!

:) I'm REALLY excited I'm here bcause it means we're a step closer to October and the CRUUUUUUUUIIIIIISSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!

wow! thats really cool that you are going to be published! can we see some of our stuff somewhere? I am just a beginner at scrapbooking and I'll like to see what "good" scrapbookers like you can do!!!

As for the reading, I used to read a lot of decorating stuff because we moved into a new house last december... now that we are pretty much all decorated, I read Elle Québec. I have a bunch of books I bought and that I have to read... maybe I'll read one on the CRUISE! WOOHOO!

We get Sunset and Disney Family Fun. But I never seem to read them.

It sounds like you have a happy outlook on life, embrace change and can roll with the punches. I would like to think my family is like that too. As long as we have each other, it doesn't matter where we live. All our moves have been in the US and within two states but there have been more than a few. Needless to say, our rolling stone doesn't gather much moss. My friend wanted to have a yard sale together but I really didn't have enough things that needed to be gotten rid of.

Yes, Mental Floss is the name of a real magazine. My daughter likes to read Highlights and the boys read Brickmaster, Boys' Life, and Popular Mechanics. Dh reads the Cabella's catalog. LOL. Most of his magazine and journal reading he does on line.

Even though it's not a journal or magazine, the kids and I like to read the daily local paper during breakfast if we don't have to be anywhere in the morning. Middle ds likes the Sudoko puzzle, and I let the kids "help" me finish the crossword puzzle. My youngest analyzes the weather map for us. Many people around here dis the local paper for not having much in the way of national and international news but DUH, it's a local paper not the Wall Street Journal.

I just feel compelled to put this out there again, now that Sue is back with us... I'm still looking for a scottish boyfriend! :lovestruc Wendy has been absent (hope everything is ok there!) and now Sue is in Aberdeen also. Maybe she and DH can keep eyes peeled for me! I'm willing to relocate for the right guy! :cool2:

Penny

sounds good Penny. Any particular description I should offer to the 'right guy' .. if I see one I like on the street and I feel particularly brave, I might shout it out :).
