October 17, 2009 Western

I'm pretty much all packed - except for the last-minute stuff. We live in Fort Myers, so we'll be driving up early Saturday morning.

We just got our stateroom assignment (we were Cat 11 guarantee). They put us in an accessible room, that I guess they ended up not needing! Yay! More room!

We'll stop by the PL at 3:00! :D

I really just want to be in my jean shorts and flip flops for 7 days.

See, I *THINK* I want to seize the opportunity to wear sundresses and the like because it is rarely warm enough to do so here in the Bay Area. But then, I have to have a back-up plan in case I get on the ship and start feeling like shorts and flip flops, too. That is why I need to bring my entire wardrobe. It is impossible to determine what my mood will be like. This is why I hate to pack.

The other night, I had a packing nightmare. Can you believe that there is such a thing? I was being buried in clothes! Too funny. :lmao: <--What a head case!

Alan - How about Raglen Road in DTD for the first night. We are probably just going to do Earle of Sandwich on Wednesday night, since we get in so late, but we do plan to wander around DTD since we will still be on west coast time.

Laura
If I do DTD it will be at Rainforest as I have about 100.00 bucks in gift cards and a coupon for save 10 bucks if you spend 25. Might go down there anyway. Have to get my mom a AP with the DVC discount. Our IDs still match. So I can do that at DTD guest relations. If not, the lunge or counter service at SSR will work just fine. We would not be there till like 8:30 anyway. Oh and I leave in less than 48 hours and I still have not packed.

hi guys .. Shoes. Ponchos. Umbrellas., snorkel gear.. Packed them all.. I'm trying to be as good as i can and still leave room for shopping..!! Remember there is a laundry room on board I keep telling myself! We leave in less than 48 hrs!! Can't wait...!!

Laundry on vacation? You will never see me do that. That goes agenst my vacation rules.

Hey Beansf, do you currently live in SF? I am from San Jose and moved to a suburb of Sacramento 5 years ago. My husbands works in SF a lot, so we are lucky enough to get out of the Sac. heat and head to the city occasionally.

We moved from SF to San Bruno almost 4 years ago, but we still work in the city so we are here almost every day. It sure is a chilly one today. Tomorrow, the rain will be pelting us! I hope it clears up by Friday when we fly.

Some other q's: What are your plans in case there is rain? I understand the Captain trys to steer the ship clear of rain, but in port it's a good chance we'll have some. Are you bringing any rain gear? I might throw in our kids ponchos, but my DH & I will probably just brave it. Also, I'm only bringing short sleeve sweaters. I've heard it can be pretty windy on deck, will I be warm enough if we want to step out for a bit at night?

You just never know with these things. Last year, when just dh and I cruised, the odds were against us making all the ports or enjoying the sail-away party. The East Coast was being pounded by a tropical storm/hurricane on our way down the day before the cruise and there were two hurricanes making their way toward land while we were at sea. Nevertheless, we didn't miss a single port and never needed an umbrella or raincoat the whole time. The captain did switch the itinerary a little in order to avoid the weather.

As for the weather on-deck at night, this is only our third fall cruise but on the last two, I never needed a sweater or a wrap on the deck. I DID need one in the theatre and in a couple other indoor locales. It's on my list to pack a wrap of some sort.

shoes haha

I have like 15 pairs on the bed and am trying to narrow it down. I also had like 5 black, 4 white, a few brown t-shirts oh and like 4 pink ones. I am so bad at packing. Why would I need 4 of each color.

If you have fifteen, I'm feeling a whole lot better. :lmao: I felt bad about my five: wearing sneakers on the plane, packing black sandals, brown sandals, black dress shoes & flip flops

I feel the same except instead of jean shorts it would be roomy sundresses. It took a few vacations to figure out I should only pack what I am most comfortable in because the rest is either going to wind up staying in the closet or drawer.

Well I am planning on six pairs. Shhh.. Don't tell DH. Not sure how he gets by with 3 pairs.

Counting the ones I am wearing (sneakers) I only have 4: dress ballerina flats, sandals and Crocs for pool/beach!

T-minus 42 hours until we leave, and we haven't packed anything! :scared1: DW (frndofpooh) has put a few things aside, but none has its way into a suitcase. Guess what's on tonight's agenda?

On the other hand, all other planning and preparations are done. Travel documents ready? Check. Reservations, excursions, and WDW tickets ready? Check. Driving route planned? Check. Gas stations on route researched? Check. Weather forecasts reviewed? Check. Laundry clean and ready to be packed? Check. Mail and newspaper held? Check. Dog sitter ready to go? Check. Enough work done to leave without worrying? Almost (hope to be there by the end of the day tomorrow).

Looking forward to seeing everyone in less than 5 days!

Hello everyone!

So I was wondering if any of you had scheduled to take the "grand cayman island tour and butterfly farm" excursion on grand cayman. I logged on to check on my excursions and noticed it is no longer on listed under my planned activities.

I got nervous and called DCL. They person I initially spoke with said she still showed the excursion as scheduled on our itinerary. When I told her that the excursion was no long listed on the site, she put me on hold. Came back 5 min later and told me that this excursion was no longer being offered and we wouldn't be charged. I told her I was concerned that no one called to tell me and she said "as of oct 2nd this is no longer offered and we won't charge you for it, is there anything else I can do to help?"

I was surprised and wanted to bring this to your attention in case you are planning to take this excursion. Or, you may want to check the excursions you have planned in case something else has been canceled too.

I'm disappointed no one from DCL called to inform us. Now we have no plans for grand cayman and not much time to make plans.

Anyone else in this situation?

Cheers,
Josh

okay, me and both dd's are packed.....of course I will go through the clothes when they are at school tomorrow to "rethink" it all. Hubby is not packed. all will be FINE!!

.................:);););)

@Josh - so sorry to hear of your situation. The Disney response sounds just curt and disgusting.. as if not charging you for it just makes up for the fact that they didn't bother to email to let you know.

Hope that you'll be able to find something else!

If it's helpful, the Grand Cayman Island Tour (without the butterfly farm) is still available. I totally agree you should have been notified, though.

I was searching my box of cruise mementos to find our waterproof id holders and guess what I found? A Disney Cruise Line coloring book from 2005! We bought it onboard on our first cruise and meant to give it to DD to enjoy on the train home. I guess we forgot to give it to her. LOL.

97% packed! still need to pack swimsuits, a couple pairs of denim shorts (in the laundry), a few more pair of socks and then pack the travel bag with the computer and camera. Hope to get all that done tonight!

READY TO GO!!!!!:wizard:
