October 15, 2005 anyone?

Hello!

I am miserable and sick. I am one of the few adults in the world (at least it seems like it!) that still has her tonsils, and every once in a while, they like to get infected and remind me that they are still there. This time, they brought a super high fever (105.1 by the time I got to the DR. Yesterday) so needless to say, I am miserable. Jeff stayed home from work today to take care of Katie (andto rest since we were at the doctor all night with them trying to decide if they should keep me or let me go. Luckily, they let me go!), so I am resting a lot and taking antibiotics. Luckily the fever went down a lot over night. I still have one, but it is a much more manageable 101.7.

It is times like these when October seems far, far away.

On a happier note, I started a toiletry bag that actually has two whole items in it. Does that count for starting to pack? :)

I have a list of things to buy like toothpaste, wipes, handcleaner to throw in my bag. I use those plastic zipper things that curtains or pillow cases come in. That way if they open it does not get on my stuff. I always save those things when I buy new curtains. They come in handy. :cool1:

Are any of you bringing alcohol on board??? I am going to get a couple bottles of wine and wrap them in tissues and then stick them in wine tubes for my carry on. Then I can use the empty wine tubes to bring home any small treasures that we may buy or find on this trip.... :goodvibes

I don't know if any of you have a "Trader Jo's" by you but they have an awesome travel pack that contains everything you need right down to Sunscreen. All in travel size for $8 and in a cut little zipper bag. :cool1: I am also getting me one of those.

I have my lotions ready to pack..."Coconut Lime Verbena" from Bath n Body! Love it!!! :lovestruc

By the way I drive about 45 miles one way (90 roundtrip each day) :guilty: I do carpool so that helps some....I live in the country so I pay the price by having to drive to the City everyday. I would not trade my piece and quiet for anything though. I love when I get home in the afternoon...Makes it all worth it. :sunny:

Ok lunch is over...Better get back to work! :badpc:

this whole problem is just snowballing itself about gas prices....they tell us not to go get gas, then they tell us gas will be $4 per gallon by this weekend...that just makes more people want to get out and get gas before the price goes up again, which drives the price up....it is a vicious cycle...i drive a big van with horrible gas mileage and i will have to start driving our little clunker that gets good gas mileage around more....

schmoo...sorry to hear you are feeling bad...get well soon!

I AM OUT OF HERE SOON....EVERYONE ENJOY THE LONG WEEKEND AHEAD.... :cool1: :sunny: :cool1: :sunny:

Try to enjoy yourselves inspite of all the horrific things going on in this world right now. :guilty:

We are spending the night with my Cousin tomorrow night. We are baking cookies with our girls and then having a sleepover and watching movies! :goodvibes
Then Sunday we are going to spend the day at Hurricane Harbor(Six Flags). :sunny: The waterpark closes Monday!! Then Summer is really over!

Have a good weekend.... :sunny:

made it to Milwaukee last night with minimal trouble - highest gas price we saw was $3.49 a gallon...average has been around $3.20. Did see two gas stations that were shut down due to no gas from their supplier...very weird.

Be safe everyone...see ya'll later!

Hi Everyone, Gas has broke the $8/gallon barrier in most areas with talk of $8.20 by the end of the week but we don't care because we are doing the Doc's dance  :cool1: :cheer2:  :cool1: :cheer2:
Cute UPS man brought them this morning
We will be taking some alcohol on with us. probably just 6 small cans of Bud and 6 alcopop type drinks but we have $200 onboard credit to spend on Drinks of the day and smoothies. :teeth:
Started getting things together for packing, will get suitcases out in next couple of weeks.
Hope you all get your docs soon
Wayne  :cool1: :cheer2:

...we don't care because we are doing the Doc's dance
Wow! That's great! That's pretty early since we are still almost six weeks away...I think typically they arrive 2-4 weeks before the cruise, so I haven't been expecting to see mine until the latter half of this month.

It's just another sign of how close it's getting! :earsboy: :boat:

40 days until embarkation! 869 hours until my vacation starts! :teeth:

Reading thru the doc's. There is a letter from Disney regarding alterations. Looks like they won't get all the work done in drydock.
"During your voyage, we will be expanding our fitness centre located in the Vista spa & salon. While the centre will be unavailable during your sailing the majority of the equipment will be relocated to an alterative location. The Spa & Salon remain open."

Hey Wayne...glad to hear you received your doc's...we were not expecting ours for another 2 or 3 weeks. Appreciate the update from DCL regarding the upgrades during drydock.

well - Happy Labor Day to all...hope you are enjoying the day with family. I just finished posting some items on ebay. Soon - we will be going to visit good friends for a BBQ and pool party. Bacon wrapped shrimp - yum!!!

Not too much longer....see ya real soon. K

i understand that they might not get everything done during dry dock that they want but i sure hope i don't have to hear the sounds of construction all through the cruise....i live in a new neighborhood with constant construction and i want to get away from all that noise not go on vacation with it.....

are any evacuees coming to your towns? i have not heard of any coming near me but i have heard that OK state park cabins that are normally closed after labor day will remain open to house about 3000. :flower:

Does anyone know where I can find a listing of things to do on the ship while others are in port? We only have one excursion planned for St Maarten but it doesn't leave until 1:15 p.m.

What is there to do all morning? If we would decide not to leave the ship (and we're not really into spa treatments), what else is there to do? (Keep it clean.... :teeth: )

Since I am a Skin Cancer and Melanoma survivor, laying around in the sun is not an option.

I've checked out a few navigators on dcltribute.com but I don't really see what I'm looking for. I'm not worried about CC as we have a full day planned there. St. Thomas is going to be a shopping day. Is the shopping district close enough to walk to from the ship?

Thanks guys...
Nancy :wave2:

I think DC is getting 400. That isn't a lot, but that City is too crowded anyway!

For those interested in the Stingray Encounter, I just read this on the Repo thread on the Cruise Board:
The Castaway Ray's stingray adventure was so great!! We did have to switch the time because it was lightening and raining, but we were able to do it. First we fed the stingrays on a platform that Tom McAlpin referred to as the closest thing Disney will get to a Blackjack table We had our pictures taken with them too. Then we we able to snorkel with them for about 1/2 hour. This excursion will cost $29/$35 for children/adults when they start it officially on September 20. We really enjoyed being able to do this.
So, it looks like this will indeed be available on our cruise! I'm definitely considering signing myself (and some yet-to-be determined percentage of my family) up for it! :earsboy:

okay....time to bring out the popcorn for yet another flaming thread....look under community board, hurricane katrina section, "really angry at certain black people from NO"...my oh my the things peole have written! I am surprised it has not been closed down!!

I cannot wait for the stingray encounter but it is not avail yet on disney online....

Wow! And you had the guts to even make a couple of posts to that thread?!? My blood pressure rises enough just reading through it... (I'm just amazed at all of the arrogant people that act like they have all the answers...And that comment applies equally to those on the left and the right. All I know is that I don't know what the answer is, other than prayer, and a LOT of it.)

OK, that was my one trip to the Community Board this month... :scared1: :)

Yes, I know...I've been checking! ::yes:: This may be one of those things that you will only be able to book on board, at least until it has been available for awhile. We'll see... :earsboy:

I can't wait!! :cool1: I guess I better get on the ball and get trip insurance bought. You just never know with this weather lately. :confused3
That is my last thing to purchase!

It is my Birthday Thursday! :bday: :cake: :bday: TO ME!
I told my family when they ask....Money so I can get a massage! That is all I want....A massage! Is that too much to ask? :teeth:

I would love to try the Stingray swim, but I think we will just enjoy a relaxed beach :sunny: day at Castaway Cay. We have the St.John trip planned and we have to leave at 7:45 am!! EEK!

Have a good day!! Back to work!!! Yuck!

:earseek: :earseek: That community board is an...interesting place. No desire to post anything there, let me tell you!

I will say this...how anyone could have watched that footage last week and felt that government at all levels (local, state, and federal) responded adequately to the needs of its people in a time of unprecedented crisis must have a different set of governmental criteria than I do. There is plenty of blame to go around, but I've yet to hear anyone other than the Mayor of New Orleans actually admit that he could have done a better job. With great power comes great responsibility and accountability - it's time that someone step forward and admit that for whatever reason the system failed and then they need to take steps to ensure that something like this never happens again. Natural disasters happen and it's a sad fact of life that people will die because of them. Man-made disasters on a scale like this in the wealthiest nation on Earth are inexcusable. I'm tired of the spin and I'm sick of hearing politicians congratulate themselves on the terrific job they're doing.

That's my two cents - thanks for letting me get that off my chest in the more friendly confines of our thread. I think I heard this morning that they are expecting about 2,000 evacuees here in St. Louis today...on top of about 1,000 or so that had wandered in during the last week. Just incredible to think of the scope of this tragedy.

I can only take so much of this crap you see on TV and hear on the Radio. I finally just have to remove myself from it all.

I don't know if you listen to K-hits (JC and the U-Man????) JC just aggrevates me so much...I finally had to turn him off this morning...UGH!
I agree with what he is saying, but he just never shuts up about it all....

It is all very depressing...I did see gas is back down to $2.99 since the Holiday weekend is over...WOW What a bargain! :confused3

:wizard: Come on Documents...... :wizard:

I can't wait to escape reality for a week. I hate to say that, but I feel that way.. When you cruise it is like you leave the real world behind...Totally behind...No traffic, cars congestion ect....... :wave2: :p :wave2:

My blood pressure went through the roof just seeing the title. I can't even look at the actual thread. I'm afraid that would be the last time I visited these boards. I am surprised and very disappointed that the board would allow something like that. But I guess if you're for free speech, you have to be for it even when you don't like what people say.

Hope everyone had a nice Labor Day weekend. We spent part of ours hauling donations to our convention center and the Astrodome, where they were so overwhelmed with volunteers and donations that they actually started sending people elsewhere. The latest estimate I've seen is that Houston is housing around 150,000 Katrina evacuees, many of whom are now looking for jobs and thinking of staying here. It will be interesting to see how many folks stay and how many return to New Orleans.

Well, I need to start thinking happy thoughts, so I'm going to think cruise-cruise-cruise for a while. Can't wait! And by the way, how nice is it that of all the drydock repairs that might not have been finished in time, the fitness center is the only one - I can't complain about that! I wasn't really planning to spend a lot of time on the treadmill anyway!
