October 15, 2005 anyone?

happy november everyone!!! I noticed this poor thread is almost dead...

boing... bring our yer dead
boing....

"I'm not dead yet!"
"You will be in a minute!"
"I'm feeling betta"

hey Wayne... did ya get back over the pond yet? how did you do weathering old Wilma??

Later,
Paul

P.S. we probably won't cruise for a while, but may be the the mousetrap or vero beach (we LOVE vero beach) next year... we may have to borrow from 07 DVC points... :guilty: aww heck.. maybe we'll just buy 120 more points...

Great picture Paul! That should be your Christmas card!

We probably won't do another 7 day till maybe 2007,but a 4 day on the Wonder may be possible. Prices seem to be creeping higher and higher! :confused3

I am checking into renting 55 DVC points for our stay in May for 5 nights at the Boardwalk Villa's. I can't believe how reasonable you can rent if you don't want the weekends.

I have to call this girl from Maryland today. She is renting them too me for $10 a point for the Standard view Boardwalk studio. Should be around $550.

I am so excited!! What do you guys think??? Is this a good idea?

I can't stay at a moderate for that or even a value??

It is for Sunday May 22 for 5 nights.... :cool1:

The only thing I have to pray for is no snow days in St.Louis or Josie won't be out of school when I want to go....
Nice Winter please! :sunny:

Bye,

Hi Everyone
Sorry I didn't post earlier in the week. Had lots of work on and trying to cope with jet lag.
No problems with Wilma, just about 20 hours of wind and rain. It was no worse than we get in UK. Couldn't believe everywhere closed (Burger King, Disney shops, housekeeping) but I suppose they have to prepare for the worst.
Great to meet everyone we had a fantastic trip only downer was Mathew getting swimmers ear so he wasn't his usual self. Cost me $148 for Doctor on ship. Is that normal ($100) consultancy fee for doc in US or just the ship overcharging? Not used to paying medical cost all free here.
We have booked 2 trips to Florida next year 25 nights in August and 11 nights Xmas 2006. But cruises are way too expensive for both trips.
Have to get more work done now.
Wayne

Wayne, glad to know that Wilma didn't put much of a crimp in your visit to WDW and happy to know you made it safely back to your side of the ocean.

Is anyone else putting their pics on shutterfly? I've made it up to 21...I'm just going to put some samplings of each day...if I tried to put all our digital shots out there I'd reach retirement age before it's complete.

We're going to the Mousetrap the last week in October 2006...anyone else gonna be there for an impromptu reunion?

HI Brenda...My computer keeps crashing everytime I add just one picture to Shutterfly. Just that little old hourglass and at least 1 hour just to get one of the pictures loaded. Gotta love "dial up"! Guess you won't be seeing any of my pictures, unless.... when you go to visit your brother, you stop in at my house. :teeth:

WHAT????? All medical expenses are free??? What are we doing wrong over here?? Do you pay for health insurance or is that free too? Just wondering.... :confused3

Wayne, I sprained my ankle on the cruise when I took a little tumble down some stairs and refused to see the ship's doctor because of how much it may cost me. (Actually, my ankle looked worse than it felt). After reading your post I think I made the right decision. $148.00!! OUCH!!!

Hope Matthew feels better now. :Pinkbounc

Nancy

Last year our son had a stomach virus on the ship and was quarantined. They waived the fee, which I was really happy about.

Hi Nancy
Yes and no for free medical expenses. Yes we can go to local doctors and hospitals anytime free :sunny: . If you need treatment the care can be anything from outstanding to terrible :guilty: , depending on where you live and how long the waiting list are. We all pay National Insurance contributions from our salaries (just looked at karens it was 4% of Basic). Some people take out Private insurance but is expensive.
No it is not free, as an American told me on the cruise we pay for our health care every time we fill up at the gas station. The country makes its money taxing fuel $8/ gallon and cigarettes $7+/pack of 20 among other over taxed products.
NI contributions are on top of personal tax which is in different bands 20% and 40% above personal allowances.
If you understand all that I will be amazed, I have just confused myself. Thats why I pay my accountant so much every year. :rotfl:
This is why so many refugees want to get into our country, they claim benefits, are given housing and get free healthcare.

Thanks for (kind of) clearing that up! :rotfl: Now I understand why the folks in the UK walk a lot and don't smoke. :rotfl2:

Hey everybody, hope all is well!

I'm going to give you the link to my album as it stands right now at Shutterfly - it takes so long with this 18th century connection that I've only got about 35 pics out there so far. When I'm totally finished I'll add to the group album.

I have waaay more pics of the group meets, so if anyone wants to see them all, just email me and I'll send you a zip file.

If you want to look at the album I sugget using the slideshow feature to get the full benefit of my amusing commentary...it sort of acts as a companion piece to my never-ending trip report. I'd love to hear what you think since this is the first time I've used an on-line picture thingie...and I can't wait to see your pictures, so hurry up!! :teeth:

Thanks, kids!

PS - the slideshow doesn't seem to be working, so look at 'em however you want! sorry. :confused3

Glad to know you and yours made it home safe and sound, Wayne :sunny:

Brenda, the slideshow worked fine for me, great photos, even better commentary. :rotfl:

Paul!
I wish I'd known on the cruise to quote some Monty Python to you!
MP and the Holy Grail is DH's favorite movie
*your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries*

To followup from my recent post about my wife's 48 hour stateroom quarantine, I went through a rather painless process with the DCL's travel insurance company and today got a check for 2/7's of my wife's cruise fare!

That'll pay for some of our DVC points!! Speaking of which, I'm going back to Lotusphere in January and will be staying at the Beach Club. The Friday/Monday after the conference are no school days here in our school district, so the wife and boys will fly down to join me after the conference for a long weekend at the parks. We'll be staying at the Boardwalk Villas (Beach Club Villas studios were all booked for those nights).

Brenda - Pics are great ! I love that you put me as a two fisted drinker - :drinking1 :drinking1 Please send me the rest if you can - Lynnie01@aol
Thanks , Lynn :wave2:

Hope everyone is well!

Here is the link to my completed on-line album in case anyone would like to take a gander.

I will be setting up a second album with all the DISmeet pics we have and will post the link as soon as I am finished.

My trip report is also finished if you feel like a little light reading.. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Lynn - I'll be sending you those pics within the next day or two. I didn't think you'd mind that caption too much! :teeth:

Just pesky ol' me again.

All the pictures that Jason took at both DISmeets are now uploaded to Shutterfly. There are 58 all total. Here's the link:

http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=2RZs2TNixdT

I hope you enjoy looking through them. I am in the process of getting them into the group album as well.

Just wanted to say again how much Jason and I enjoyed meeting all of you. Along with vacation withdrawal I seem to be going through cruise meet withdrawal...I got so accustomed to chatting with everyone before the trip that I really miss it now that all is said and done. I'll still be hanging around the DIS if anyone is ever looking to say 'hi!" - you'll probably find me over in the WDW and Universal sections but I'm sure I'll still be lurking around here too.

Take care everyone - it was truly a pleasure. :goodvibes

Fantastic pictures Brenda!! Especially love the last one. I would love a copy. How do I go about it? Notice the "Ham Cast Member"? He was hilarious in a skit we saw with Jo and Danny in Diversions on the last night of the cruise! I think it was called...."If I didn't work on a cruise ship". Or something like that.

Thanks for sharing!!!

Nancy,

if you sign up with shutterfly your first 15 4x6 pictures are free and you can order a copy of it from the group album. If it would be easier I can always email you that picture and you can save it to a CD with your other digital pics and then have a copy printed.

Let me know what you'd prefer.
