October 13th, 2007~"Cruise-A-Palooza"

Jason,

We have Tiffany Towncar picking us up at 10 at AKL on Sat so that they can do the driving. We have used them multiple times in the past and always had really good service.

With a towncar company, you can always have them pick you up at any time, but you would have to store the luggage. Of course, a rental car for both legs or just the return trip would work too.

I hope everybody is having a good day. I am writing to you from work. (shhhhhhhh, don't talk to loud, I'm not really suppose to be writing to you now. But, the boss is at lunch, it has been a slow day today here at work, and I have cruisin' with Disney on my mind!!!!!):cool1:  :thumbsup2 Sailing, sailing over the bounding...... man-o-man I wish I could sing. Everytime I start to sing at home the dog comes over and bites me in the leg, or runs out of the room howling his head off. And, DW comes over and smakes up side the head, and says, "Cut that out!!!" Oh well my talents lie elsewhere. I just haven't found just where that is as yet.:rotfl::lmao: Never fear I'll find it, trust me.
I also want to welcome all our new friends on board our thread.:cheer2:
Well better get back to work. I think I heard the boss come back from lunch. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh be vewy, vewy quiet.

DH pirate costume came in the mail, he is going to look great!
Day 80 on the countdown!

We finally paid off the cruise yesterday. We'll probably get to figuring out what we are doing realy soon on this cruise. Just now I've been busy getting ready for trip to Chicago and such. It sure won't be long!

ETA: Is it too early to decide if we want to link our dining with our group?

Hello, everyone!

A while back I booked a 3 1/2* hotel for $89/night through Hotwire for our "night before the cruise" hoping to get the Hyatt and ended up with the Marriott Renaissance. I was cool with it since we are arriving in Orlando late morning.

Anyway, today I receive an email from Hotwire and they inform me that they had to reduce the Renaissance from a 3 1/2 to a 3*. I'm guessing the renovation isn't going well.:confused3

So, they offer me the opportunity to cancel the ressie for a full refund or accept a $25 certificate for future use. I opted to take the refund and will try again for the Hyatt. At least I know when I try again, it will not be the Renaissance. :lmao:

80 days??!! I can't wait!

Steve

I got inspired yesterday after Googling "Make your own pirate costume" and found some really easy but cute ideas. So I came into my hubby's office wearing my newly-cut up pirate pants & a puffy shirt (why the heck do I own one of these anyway?), bandana, pirate shoes, & big hoop earrings with skulls on them. My husband said "Where the heck are you going dressed like that?" :)

DS had fun, too, pulling together a costume, but he threw a fit when I didn't have any clip-on earrings for him to wear. I promised I'd get some, and Oriental Trading has some for cheap. They come by the dozen (4.95/dozen!), so if anyone wants a single or a pair, let me know & I'm sure I can throw it in an envelope for next to nothing to mail! I'll only have 10 pairs though :)

I'm going to be combing through our second hand stores looking for a puffy shirt for hubby & son. Hubby promised he'd wear one if I found one :) I'm thinking a women's 2X should fit him, and look really good...

I'm always the "store bought" costume type person because my creativity is next to nil, so it was fun trying to think out of the box & see what we could turn into a costume!

If anyone is curious about doing the Butterfly Farm in St. Maarten by themselves, I spoke with them. You can catch a cab from the pier, & they said when you're done at the Butterfly Farm, they'll call a cab to come get you. They said it was about a 20 minute drive. Admission was $10 for adults & less for kids (I don't remember the amount). Check out their website for accurate prices. http://www.thebutterflyfarm.com/

Snicksed - good for you! Nothing ventured nothing gained! I however wimped out and had Dreams Unlimited book us a room at the Hyatt for $175. I guess I like the sure thing!

CrazyZuezs1- good luck with the puffy shirt search. Remember the Seinfield episdoe of the "puffy shirt"?!!

We were considering doing Coral World on our own in St. Thomas. It seems alot cheaper and we can spend some time at Coki beach next door and then get some shopping in afterwards.

Anyone else going on their own?

Well I haven't posted in a while - more like a thread voyeur. Thought I would chime in now that we are getting closer.

I chanced it and put a bid on Priceline for the highest rating in the airport area. It took me a few tries but ended up getting my bid for $69 accepted. The bid was accepted at the Marriott Orlando Airport - I believe it is across the street from the airport. We are driving but chose the airport area because of the better chance of getting a nice room at a low price.

Have any of you stayed there before??

I jumped on last week and got our excursions booked. I missed out on Palo but I figured I would try again next week when they hopefully put more out there.

As far as the timing of the excursions, check-in, etc being opened up- I read on another thread that others were able to get in to book at 12:00 EST vs 3:00am EST. Worth trying I guess to get the Palo reservation.

Cruise is paid off - yahoo!!! Even prepaid the base gratuities. Didn't know if I could do that yet on DCL but they let me.

We got our passports in a few weeks ago - only took 9 weeks so i guess we were lucky. At least we can say it is done.

Have a great Wednesday!!

If we do any excursions, we'll be doing them on our own. I want to do Coral World too, along with that tram thingy that's near the pier. Read that it's right by the pier & you can walk, and there's a bird show (?) at the top twice a day.

We don't ususally like to do a whole "group tour" type deal for anything, and we prefer to venture out on our own if we feel like it that day. So...our plan is to do Coral World if we feel like it that day! :)

Oh, how I would love to find something for Hubby like Seinfeld's shirt:

He would shoot me, but he'd be a good sport :rotfl:

Any Chicago Bears fans out here in this group? Hubby is a big, big, big (did I mention big?) Bears fan & he'll be trying to watch the game in the sports bar on Sunday the 14th. Curious if he'll have any company :)

Not a Bears fan, but ready for Football! I could be persuaded to share an adult beverage and watch the game. I see that the Bears play my Texans on August 11th. With our Astro's so far out of it all we have left to hope for is a decent football season! :thumbsup2

My sis and I are both football fans. She is a Raven's fan and I follow the Panthers, however we both enjoy watching good teams. I am sure we will see you there!

Give it up for those Tampa Bay Bucs, or the Miami Dolphins, or those Jacksonville Jags!!!!:cool1:  Me, I'm a Tampa Bay Bucs fan. Coach Gruden has told us this is the year for the past 5 years!!! One of these years he's going to get close, not sure if this is the year or not.
Are all of you ready to make those reservations this week-end!!!! Us'n first time cruisers are finally able to make our ressies. Can't wait. We've been waiting for what seems like FOREVER!!!! And, it's finally here. I gots my list and my last minute instructions from the bosses, DW and DGD. But wait, are they going to get up in the middle of the night to guide me in the right directions, nooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! Are they going to be by my side and tell me which ressie to take if our first choice is not available, noooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! And, who will get the blame if everything doesn't go right, meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:
