October 11, 2014 7-Night Southern Caribbean Cruise on Disney Magic (San Juan)

Funny this will be our fourth cruise out of four different ports, but classic cruises always seem to leave on the 11th of the given month.:confused3
Looking at your ticker, which cruise are you doing this October? We are on the Western Caribbean on the Fantasy, are you on the Wonder?

Hey, we put our room on hold this morning...Trying to decided if I should pay the deposit or wit until we sail in May...Oh the decisions we are forced to make...

Any suggestions?

That's a tough choice sometimes. I would suggest that if you REALLY want to sail this cruise, to pay the deposit now to guarantee your fare and stateroom choice. When you sail in May, visit the future cruise sales desk (makes DH break into hives when he sees me there) and have them price it for you. If it's cheaper, they can cancel your existing reservation and book for you then. :goodvibes

Karen's right, if you really want it, make the deposit. I have been "burned" twice now trying to save money by booking on board and having the fares increase. So lock in with the best price now and pat yourself on the back if it is cheaper to have them rebook for you on board :)

Agree! But make sure to account for the onboard credit (ie if it is $100 more if you rebook onboard then you'd still be $100 up bcz of the $200 credit).

So it's official! I paid my deposit!!! With a little arm twisting from luvmygrljb (just kidding), we're in. It will be me, DH, DS 16, DD 14 we will be in 8090!

Weird thing is that this will be our 5th cruise out of 4 different ports!

My DD will be 14 at the time of sailing too. Maybe we can exchange emails for them sometime before then. :)

Anyone know when the port excursions are released? So many exciting islands trying to start figuring out what we won't to do on each one.

Thx

DD will be in 10th grade, so the days of pulling her out of school are gone. ;)

My son will be a senior and I've been saying since he missed 6 days for our vacation last October I won't pull him out his senior year, like I have every year since kindergarten! Well, I lied;)! Our school usually has Mon, Tues off for Columbus day and Superintendent's Day, so he will only miss 3 days of school, if it were 5, I probably wouldn't!

For those teachers at the school who hate me, too bad, I figure this will be way more educational than 3 days he's missing at school. (Our vacation this last October, the teachers refused to give him any work even though I reminded them 1 month, 2 weeks, and 1 week out!) He just knows that he has to work his butt off when he gets back to make up what he missed. The school gives my kids an unexcused absence, but oh well, I figure it goes more towards life experience.

When my husband and I went away without the kids for a week on our Canadian cruise and they stayed at my parents house, my son lied about not having homework so he was just as behind as he would have been if he had come with us. I was so mad! That's one of the factors that made me decide to just bring him with me!

Dang kids, can't cruise with em, can't cruise without em:rotfl2:

Hi! Just got our confirmation e-mail from our TA at Dreams that we are all booked. Cat 6A... exactly what I asked for. Used a dummy booking that I had sitting on a Nov date for 2013.... We were on the Oct 20, 2012 Sandy cruise, but already are using our 25% on a concierge cabin for the Double Dip out of Miami THIS October 20, 2013. I believe there's some of you on that cruise with us as well. :cool1::thumbsup2

This will be our First DC with out the kids.... I know I will struggle with that as we get closer, but I will stick to my plan this time. They were supposed to stay home the last 2 times, but... well.... you know. I have a hard time leaving them out of my Disney addiction. :confused3
Just DH Ricky, and ME... Cyndi.

This will be DC # 5 for us..... Joining FE and FB page. Request sent... can't wait to get to know you all.:yay::woohoo:

Absolutley! Funny thing is this will be the third cruise my daughter will talk with before hand with a girl named Maddie:rotfl2:
My DD will be 15...she made some good friends on our last cruise. She will be excited to hear of other girls her age this sailing too!

We are booked on this cruise! Moved our OBB 2 or 3 times until I finally found something I am sure we will do (at least really try, depending on finances). Our first cruise was the 10-night Southern in 2006; since then I have done a 2-night NCL (Vancouver to Seattle during travel school), 7-night MR (special TA offer with my oldest son), 7-night from San Juan on RCCL with DH, and 7-night Western from Galveston (TA offer with DH). We had the Fantasy Eastern booked, but I was really hoping for a Southern and that is more important to me than the new ship.

We were considering switching to the 9/20, but this looks like an awesome group so we are sticking with this. I will probably not post much until closer to the trip because I get burned out if I over-plan. I love to research excursions and will probably look into non-Disney ones; I will post what I find out as the time get closer in case anyone wants to join us (I love planning group activities).

We're booking today. I wish we had done it sooner (we're Platinum, so no excuses), but our booking window for one of our Med cruises this summer was Thursday night, so that was our priority at the time and we have just now figured out our schedule for 2014 and I am sure we are paying more, but oh well, what can we do about it? I'm so excited about this itinerary, I lived in Grenada for a summer and am so excited to show my husband and kids around!
