I would have rather woken up to snow this morning! As I was getting 3 kids up and ready for school, I received a call from my DS17 stating that he had been in a car accident on his way to school  ...He was okay (Thank goodness!!) but his car of 6 months is not...Could not be driven at all! I have not seen it yet...Ex Husband will handle that issue!

Anyhow, I needed to get to the accident scene asap to sign a parental consent for refusal of medical treatment...So, raced around and on our way in 10 minutes (no breakfast for any kids yet!!)...DS17 calls again and says that I need to meet him at our local Emerg Room (in the other direction of travel) and pick him up there instead, as they could not wait at the accident scene any longer (Great, ambulance bill, hospital bill, etc)...Now, racing in the other direction to the ER now (meanwhile, kids are eating fruit bars and bananas on the run, and all were worried about their big brother and in a flurry of nervous chatter in the car over what they are overhearing from Mommy on the cell phone)...Get another call from my DS17 saying that the ambulance/police accepted my ex husband's (out of state on vacation) over-the-phone consent for refusal of treatment...So, now DS17 is still at the accident scene and will be going to school shortly...

All was well by 9 am, but, oh, my gosh! What a whirlwind day it has been for me so far! So, a bit of white stuff outside would have been a great alternative! Soooooo glad that my son was alright :) and all we now have to deal with is the damaged vehicle and whatever insurance issues will come up from the person my son rear-ended! Teenagers, teenagers, what can you do...:confused3 Now to get back to my sick DS9  who stayed home from school again and my tired DS4 :upsidedow fresh out of preschool before I have to go back out to get DD6 after school soon...

Oh my gosh I am very glad that he is going to be ok. What a morning for you. I hope your sons are both feeling better. WOW!! You need a break after the morning that you have had.

Snow would have been easier than what you have had to go through this morning..........:grouphug: :grouphug: to you....

Thanks so much Kristin...Yes, it has been nutso, but I have to look at it from the perspective that things could have worked out alot worse...One good thing today is that my DH informed me that they have approved his time off request for our upcoming trip in February! :thumbsup2 So, now all I have to to is wait for a DING! DVC is booked, flights are booked, DH is free from work!

I have been meaning to ask you if you bother with travel insurance for your DVC only vacations? I am tempted to do so for the February trip, only because with our New England weather, as you know, we never can know what to expect...I know we will definitely be insuring the October cruise + DVC stay, but that is mainly because of the cruise expense...Thanks!

WOW!! What a day you have had!!! Thankfully, IT'S FRIDAY!!! I hope that DS won't be too sore from the accident. The car can be fixed or replaced. At least he is okay! I hope your younger DS gets to feeling better soon! It's no fun when they are sick!
Good luck on getting flights! Steve got an email from Allegiant Air offering $12 one way flights to Tampa! Had to fly by February. He missed the 9pm deadline. I am going to have to check his email and keep a school calendar handy! Heck, for that price, I would fly down, find the cheapest hotel and relax by the pool or beach! Just to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life here! It wouldn't have to be an expensive trip! Heck, I can eat PB&J for a weekend! :thumbsup2 Of course, a day at the Magic Kingdom wouldn't hurt either! :rolleyes1

Nearly time to get Connor off the bus. Have to put away the few gifts I bought today! :santa: I think I need to just start wrapping them, that way I am SURE they won't find them!

Have a MAGICal day!

Michele, We do have our flights booked ($959 for 5 tix on SWA direct). I booked a bit ago, when I noticed the pricing dropped from almost $1100 for same flights...Now, I am just sitting back hoping for a DING! Right now, SWA is still in December for DING! offers, so hopefully, soon a discount will come my way for banking ahead for when we cruise in October! Unfortunately, we are not close enough to any airports offering Allegiant, AirTran, Jet Blue or Spirit...I have seen some awesome quick deals with some of them, but we cannot take advantage unfortunately...:confused3 We will stick with SWA until something as good comes to Providence or Hartford...:goodvibes

Hi all,

Well I talked to Carol today and we are officially booked.

I am so excited. We haven't told the kids yet, we want it to be a surprise.

Congrats to you! If you are able, it would be awesome for you to be able to keep it a surprise...However, 10+ months is a long time to keep a secret. I personally think I would explode with excitement somewhere along the way!

We were able to keep a surprise trip a secret from our kids in 2005 and it worked out great! We had already been for a big trip in May and scored a deal we could not refuse that following September. We did not have that much time to keep things quiet, so we succeeded.

We had an early flight and packed the car the night before. We got the kids up as if it was a normal school morning, but when they got to our van (with Mom with camera in tow, of course!), they found green Mickeys hanging all over from the ceiling inside the van, along with Disney plush toys and postcards from characters for each in their carseats. It took them all a few moments, but eventually the kids figured out they were NOT going to school that day! What a hyper bunch :dance3: they all were on the way to the airport that time!

We have taken the insurance a few times. The trip in Feb. I proabally would do due to the weather. I am still debating upon the insurance for our April trip. What airport do you usually fly out of? We have been flying out of White Plains NY. our last two trips since we can get JetBlue and AirTran for cheap out of there. That is where we are flying out of in April. What week are you going in FEB? My Brother and SIL will be at SSR in Feb. and my parents too..Are you going school vacation week?? Too bad we were not going in Feb!!!!
We will have to plan a time to get the kids to meet before the cruise how far are you from Hartford. I do not think we are more than an hour from each other.....

We are going Feb 7-12...Would rather avoid the vacation week rush, etc. I am probably about 45-50 minutes from Hartford...Would be great to meet before October!

I know what you mean about school vacation trips...We purposely planned away from our February break (18th or so), as the SWA reservations have been showing unavailable for all flights for some time...Soooo, I don't want to be near an airport during that week, Thank you! Our kids have a day off the week we are gone, so I planned it around that...I think they will miss 2 1/2 days of school.

Yes, I was up late...DH works every other 24 hours and the nights he is not home, I tend to become either really busy after the kids turn in, or, I simply crash in front of the TV, which is what happened last night...It was quite a taxing day for Mommy yesterday!

I am a walk away from our beach in our town...We are in the Groton-New London area right on Long Island Sound. We are a quick drive to Mystic Seaport and Mystic Village, along with some other quaint New Englandy places...I know the holidays are going to be zooey for us, as usual, but adding into the pot the fact that we are hopefully breaking through to start bathroom and kitchen renovations at the new house very soon, and then move in, I should be exceptionally crazed this year. So, a day off with the kids would be a nice break for sure...Have a great Saturday...Off to get the kids dressed to go jump in ALL of our leaves that DH is getting into piles in the front yard! I was hoping they would all blow away yesterday, but we were only partially lucky. :goodvibes

Sounds like you picked a GREAT week to go to FL....I bet it will not be as busy. That is what I am hoping with our April break we have the week before off so I am hoping it should not be as bad..

Oh you are lucky to live near the beach..Mystic is a fun place to go. My kids love going to the beach. It would be fun to have the kids get together before the cruise.

Bruce was thinking he was going to have to do the leaves but they all did blow away so he is out of doing them but they are all in the neighbors yard...:lmao: :lmao: But the kids wanted to jump in them one more time....

We are taking the kids to the mall to finish Christmas shopping today they want to buy each other gifts. This did not work out to well last year since the day they bought the gifts they cried and ended up giving them to each other that day. LOL!!!

Hi all,

Just sitting here enjoying some alone computer time. DH took DS on a hike with the cub scouts. BRRRRR its 32 degrees here.

DD is watching "The Pacifier" and we are getting ready to take a trip to Goodwill. Time to drop off all the summer clothes and toys they no longer play with, to get ready for all the new ones.

How was that movie? My kids have asked to watch that!!
We were going to the mall but the kids are not behaiving very well so they are playing in their rooms while DH finishes putting our hoses, etc. away for the winter and brings the snowblower up from the shed to the garage..UGH!!! I hate winter........

No No not the snowblower. Gosh I hate winter too.

The Pacifier is a really cute movie. Its a little touchy at the begining, they don't actually show it, but a person gets shot. its part of the story actually. But after that its really cute and funny.

I may not be the best mom to ask, my 4 yo DD, but then 3 yo, has seen all the POTC movies. :rolleyes1

FYI, my neighbor went to a sneak preview of Enchanted last night and she said it was Great!!

I just heard the weather that they are tracking a snowstorm for here..UGH!!!

Anyone ever heard of sharedreviews???
