Can someone explain why I can't book Oct 4-8 at a value resort through the WDW resort, but I can book those dates at a value resort through Expedia? I prefer to book as a WDW package to get magic bands and no interest for 6 months if I used my Disney Visa. Thanks for any insight....

Because Expedia is a wholesaler. They get blocks of rooms to sell. Disney CRO does not have access to that inventory of rooms until Expedia “returns” any unsold rooms to them.

I have a friend looking for one night in October at a value and they have had no luck with Disney either. If you book on Expedia, do you not get MBs?

Try again. I see Value resorts: All-Stars Movie, Sports, AoA and Pop for your dates. @Marionnette covered that fact that Expedia has it's own block of rooms just like any other third-party booking site.

I just tried again - only values I see are suites at AOA.

Wow, that is so wierd....that is exactly what I want to see, but I don't! Try it with 2 adults and 2 kids (ages 9 and 11). That's what I'm putting in - not sure why that would make a difference, but maybe it does.
Here is another partial snapshot using your 2/2 settings.

I think it might be looking for offer eligible rooms. If you click on the actual hotel, there are still rooms available. But you have to change the toggle.

Ooooh. Ok let me try that!! Thank you!

Yes you get MBs. The ability to customize your MBs appears as soon as you link your reservation in MDE. You also get all other Disney benefits such as DME airport transfers.

How do I get out of the offer eligible? I feel like it keeps automatically going to that. Thank you for all the help!

If you search your check-in/check out, party size, click value hotels. Then where it says "This room type is unavailable for the dates, party size or offer selected" just click on it for the hotel you're interested in. It should bring you to the room rate pages and you should be able to toggle to room only or package versus the special offers. I only checked Pop.

Click on any hotel that is listed for you. On that resort specific page you want to pick "Package" for the Offers listed above the rooms that are displayed.

On the left side of the "Offers" area there is a blue < that you can click if you are too far right and are only looking a specific offer.

Here is a link that you can use https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resorts/all-star-music-resort/rates-rooms/
