Oct. or Jan.?

here's the deal...I am already waiting til Oct. 05 for an 8 night trip which we'd like to do Poly Lagoon...maybe even Concierge. This is considered regular season for Poly. If we wait til Jan we would be in value season and could save a good bit of money. Our youngest would turn 4 a week after we'd get home if we went in October so we would not be able to utilize Neverland Club in October...I know weather is iffy in January but would crowds be better? I'm so confused. I think the thing is I want to go way sooner than 05 but we are trying to completely have it paid upon check-in...so even delaying it 3 more months is killing me...any help?

OK, there are a few things to consider.

How much do you think you would use the Neverland Club? I'm betting you'll have enough to do without it.

If you go that close to his birthday, it will be lots of fun to do some character meals to celebrate it. Be sure to mention it when you make PS's.

Weather: Much more reliable in Oct. We have been a couple times in January and had pretty cool weather. One time it went down to 28 degrees! I'm telling you what, we have that kind of weather, and worse, here all winter long, but I have never been colder than walking around parks all days when it is that cold. We have been 2x in Oct. and had the very best weather of any trips we've taken.

I suppose I would go for Oct., it will be a little more crowded, but it shouldn't be CROWDED.

You are right...we would have only used the kid's club maybe once (it will be our anniversary when we are there) but we'll all just celebrate that day together...and it would be fun to make a big deal out of the boys birthdays down there (our ds's are one day and 5 years apart). We'll just have one big party! If I have 20 months to save for the trip, what's a few hundred more if we can go in nicer weather, right?

I've been to the World during both those times of the year and if money wasn't an issue I would go in October. January was a bit chilly- some days it was 70 or so, but nothing warmer than that. The crowds were NOTHING though...this was 9 years ago, but I was shocked at how we walked on everything- even Tower of Terror which was less than a year old at that point.

I went this last October and it was quite crowded. However, it was the week Mission:Space, PhilharMagic & Wishes premiered and there were a TON of press and travel agents there. We were able to do almost everything we wanted to though, by getting to the parks at opening and utilizing Fast Pass. It was very warm, almost too warm somedays, but it was nice all in all. I would not want to chance the poopy weather you might get in Jan., esp if you are trying to escape cold weather where you live.

That's a tough choice! We went last October and last month in Jan. By far the highlight of either trip was MNSSHP. I'm planning to go again this October just for that. If you could schedule your trip to include that I would go in October for sure! Also, last month wasn't bad but January of 2003 was really cold and my 19 yr old DD turns into a big whiner when she's cold! (or hungry, or wet!!)

We only go in October or January. October, better weather, more crowds, Epcot Food and Wine festival, MNSSHP. January, NO crowds, most of the Fast Pass kiosks are not even open, walk onto anything. My kids always think the Neverland Club or any of the others is one of the highlights of the trip. And we like to hit the Monorail resorts then. Citrico's and California Grill are to die for.

October gets my vote! The weather is almost perfect. In January it can get bitter and rainy. This makes for a miserable trip. Better to spend a little more and have a more reliable indicator of the weather. We were there in Dec. and it got down to freezing one night. We were miserable most of the next day until it warmed up, but then again I live in the tropical south and detest the cold. I think you'd have more hours of sunshine in October (and the parks would probably be open later too.)

As to the Neverland Club, if your son is turning 4yo the following week and you are there celebrating his birthday, among other things, I think they would let him in. I would call the Neverland Club and ask. I'm not trying to open a debate...

He turns 4 on October 25 and our vacation would be from either the 8th to the 19th or the 15th through the 24th...depending on school schedule for the two older kiddies...I am relatively new to these boards but have been around enough to know this is a hot topic. I'm one of those anal rule followers but I guess it couldn't hurt to ask...right? I could never just plop him in there...I'd bring his birth certificate...

It would be neat to try the club. Older DD will be 10 and DS will be 8...they'd probably love it. I would understand though if they would not allow it...Just an excuse to go back when youngest is 4!!

I'm in MD, too...New Market...where are you? Nice weather, huh? I am soooo ready for Spring!!

I've been in January several times and loved it. Even when the weather was cool (and one time cool and rainy but we were just there for the day) I thought the crowds were great. I remember standing outside of Space Mountain with a mug of steaming hot cocoa and really having a great time. No crowds, etc. To save money and be able to use the onsite daycare I'd go in January. I guess if I wanted the warmer weather I'd go at another time and save money but choosing a less expensive option for a resort. Either way it should be fun!

We were lucky enough to go in October and January this year. We much prefered the October trip! Even tough the crowds were bigger in October, the weather was so much better. We've gone in January several other times, but this year it was cool to cold and very windy. We probably will wait to go in the first week of February next time.
