Oct & Dec. UY at BLT for 2009 bookings

Perhaps this has been brought up and I missed it, but I just had a realization after reading a thread about when you can begin booking BLT. If the opening is Sept 1, 2009 then the only way Oct & Dec UY who are looking to use BLT pts. could book to stay in the first month would be if they borrowed points right away - correct? And any Dec. UY would have to do this for stays during the first 3 months. That is assuming that it will be allowed.

I wonder why they are not giving out 2008 points like they have done for Kidani since they will be open during the 2008 UY for the Oct and Dec UY?

I guess no matter when a DVC resort opens, it will be ahead of some use years and behind the others. If my use year was February and you got 2008 pts for your Dec use year, I would want it to be "equal" and want 2008 pts for my use year, too, since we pay dues by the annual. Since it won't be open until 2009 and we don't pay dues until then, I guess that's why they aren't giving any 2008 pts. The huge volume of developer points from the AKV and SSR buys made reservations hard to do during the busy DVC times of year so I'm kinda glad they aren't doing developer points which make it harder for all of us to use our regular points.

That is true that when resort opens in the middle of a calendar year there will always be a disparity. From the early UY's POV it would seem unequal to not get the 2008 points but from the late UY's POV it would seem unequal that, for example, a Feb. UY will have access to 2 years points at the time of opening with borrowing, while the later UY's would have to borrow just to make a ressie. And I'm not even 100% certain that they will be allowed to borrow, just assume that they will.

I think what mostly occured to me is that for a person adding on with a late UY it may be another reason to delay the purchase - especially if you are adding on just a small amount and plan on using banking and borrowing for you stays.

I also was curious what has occured in the past. Kidani did 2008 points for UY's after May. When was Jambo's official opening and did they do they same? Or others?

Jambo House opened on July 1st or 2nd, 2007. Everyone who bought in before their 2008 UY started got 2007 points. The occupancy dates of the Units being sold were July 1st?/2nd? 2007 and Sep 1, 2007 so all 2007 UYs overlapped with those occupancy dates.

With Kidani only those whose 2008 UY overlaps with the opening date (May 1, 2009) get 2008 points. If they gave them to those with UYs of Feb, Mar or Apr, the 2008 points would expire before the resort opened. I was surprised that they gave any 2008 points at all and was hoping that was a sign that perhaps part of the resort would open in late 2008 (remember those rumors?).

Thanks for the background info LisaS. So comparing BLT to AKV it appears that Kidani was the exception of the 3 openings when they gave out the 2008 points if your UY had not started by the opening in May '09. Just one of those things that makes you go .
