I just read over on Passporter that you now have pick an arrival time slot to arrive at Port Canaveral, when you finish your on-line check in. This is to reduce the number of people showing up at opening and before boarding starts.

Those on DCL air and/or ground transfers, do not need to pick a time. And Conc. and Plat. CCC do not need to pick a time to arrive. Another perk to enjoy after these cruises.

I guess I won't be messing around doing our on-line check-in, we are hoping to do a town car to the port early on the Sunday. The report said the earlier you finish the more options you will have for when you can arrive.

I saw this message as well. I'm thankful we are platinum as we love to be some of the first people on the ship. We are staying the night before at the port again so we can just get up and get to the terminal asap.

I completed our on-board check in a month ago for next month's cruise, and went back in last night to do the new system. Thankfully I didn't have to re-enter everything as it had been saved, but I did pick a port time. 10:30-11 am wasn't locked out so we were able to get it.

At least it will be familiar to me the next go-around! We have tons to go before we get to platinum!!

wow, we can do our check-in already? Or are you paid in full? Ah, checked out your countdown, you have a spring cruise!

Sorry, guess I could have been more clear about that one! In my head I did say for the March cruise. I'll change it for future readers!

found this info on the main page

Each arrival time slot has a limited number of spaces. Therefore, Guest should complete their online check-in as soon as possible in order to have access to the largest selection of available arrival times.

•This is not applicable to Concierge and Platinum Guests, who can arrive at any time.
•Guest who purchase Disney Cruise Line Air or Ground Transportation will not need to select a time.
•For Guest with independently purchased air, only times appropriate for their flight arrival time will appear.

If you have already fully completed the online check-in process for an upcoming cruise (prior to these enhancements), any submitted information will be transferred over. However, Guests are encouraged to login and select a Port Arrival time.

How exciting...your 1st Disney cruise. You'll be silver Castaway Club when you cruise in October!

Ok, here's my take on getting on the ship....I dont want to be the first on...there are not enough people aboard to clapp and welcome me aboard!!

gotta run
:banana::banana:

Denise, you make me giggle. Not enough people to clap.

When we cruised in November of last year. We got up late (intentionally), went to CVS, Ron Jons, got gas for the rental, waited for the shuttle and arrived at the terminal around 1 pm. It was empty. We strolled through security, had all our paperwork done (I'm a good secretary) and only had to wait a couple minutes to check in. After that we were allowed to walk on the boat and had NO LINES, not even for pictures. When we got on the boat everyone was at lunch and we had the ship to ourselves (also it was cold on deck too). We were pretty much able to go straight to our room and drop off the one bag we had drug on. I think we will do that this year. It was so relaxed and a perfect beginning to a great week.

All is good here. We got 10 inches of snow and they are expecting more.

I hope everyone has a great day and a great weekend.

TTYL.

Morning everyone,

Christine thanks for posting that. I had just read it and was going to post it to but you beat me to it:thumbsup2 Glad I am Platinum so I dont have to think about it.:cool1:

If you board around 1:00 will there still be time and opportunities for lunch and swimming before the sail away party?

Also, I finally figured out that we have Main Dining, but I don't know what that means as far as time. Also, I couldn't find my show time anywhere. If I have main dining will that automatically give me the 9:00 show? And will that interfere with other things that are going on (i.e. Pirate or Halloween party)?

The more I know, the less I know. :scared1:

We have cruised with DD since she was 5 months old. DD is 6, and will be 7 at the time we cruise. This will be her 8th DCL cruise, and she was on one Carnival with us too. We live near Orlando, so didn't have to deal with the flight to get to our cruise, but I can tell you, car seats shouldn't necessarily be needed to travel with, unless you're renting a car (you can get through car rental, but often extra charge). You shouldn't need the car seats anytime on the cruise. I felt uneasy in other countries when we have cruised at times, but in some countries they don't even have seatbelts in cars to attach car seats. If you do bring a stroller, you have to store it in your room.

We brought DD's Graco stroller onboard-and this is probably my best suggestion! It was a bit larger than an umbrella stroller, but I found well worth the space, especially since we used a lot. Our DD was more comfortable sleeping in her stroller (with infant seat for her infant days), vs the pack 'n play. We would also load her up in her stroller at night for dinner, movies, anywhere we were going on the ship. It made it easy for us to enjoy dinner, and for her to just fall asleep. Then we could enjoy the ship just walking around with her sleeping in her stroller.

Since you're flying, you may want to look at the Babies Travel Lite options to have diapers and wipes in your room when you arrive vs buying ahead of time...I'm sure the cost is more, but might be worth it with airline luggage fees. There are also quite a few stores to stock up close to the port.

Welcome!

Stephanie

DH-Peter, DD-Kayla age 6 until July 8th

Stephanie. Thank you. I have 2 Graco strollers. The double is so huge I would never fit it anywhere. The single is beautiful and comfy. Maybe I'll take the Graco for the little baby and buy a reclinable umbrella for Carson who'll be 2 and 10 months. I really don't want to bring the car seats. I'm going to keep researching peoples ideas for flying with little ones. Thanks again!!

Does anyone else feel like this winter will never end? :confused3

Anyway, thanks for the head's up regarding the change in the online check in. A quick search on the Disboards allowed me to get all my questions answered. This board is so resourceful! Wish I would have known about it years ago!!

Off to scrap again tomorrow and watching the big game on Sunday. Rooting for the Packers for this one. Happy Friday and weekend to everyone!

Hello KJ4402! Welcome to the DIS!

My older daughter will turn 8 the last day of the cruise. Her sister will be 5 and I will be with my nieces (7 and 5) and their cousin (9 year old boy). So lots of kids in the age range.

I think we are going to end up staying at the Marriott Residence Inn the night before we sail. DH's aunt and uncle have points there and can stay for free and DH wants to stay where the rest of his family is. :confused3

I was looking at another thread regarding online check-in. We have been using a TA to book. Will we still want to do online check-in? Will we get a crappy boarding number because this is our first cruise?

PrincessTinker11: I would also like to hear which shuttle service worked out to $11 per person. We are thinking we will rent a car as the cheapest option, but I would definitely take a shuttle that was that cheap.

Princess Sleepy I will have to check my work computer, that is where I have it written down who I talked to! It might have been that cheap as I have a large party, 30, going but I will def. check IF I don't get back to you by Weds just remind me please! :) lol

Hi Everyone once again.

Tonight I'm preparing for a scrap party, which I'm hosting at my home for tomorrow. We'll have 8 ladies working on various projects and having a great time. So, with that said, this week I've been cleaning and rearranging all the tables/chairs so that all will be comfortable and have the room to stretch out. Then on Sunday it'll be time for the Super Bowl party with the family down in the Man cave. Can't wait!!!! :yay: Especially for the commercials. LOL :thumbsup2

For all those new cruisers or just new to our thread, WELCOME!!!! We're all gonna have a wonderful time on the Dream... I just wish it was this month instead of in the Fall. No worries...it'll be here soon enough.

My name is Terry and this will be our second Disney cruise, our eighth all together. Hubby (Mike) and I are traveling with 3 of our 4 grown children and their families, plus DD's b/f's grown daughter, his sister, his nephew and wife, plus his sister's grandson. 15 of us altogether, 11 adults, 4 children <-- all boys 12, 10, 8, and 12 months (at time of cruise)

We have someone organizing the FE for our cruise and then there's me....I'm organizing a SCRAPBOOKING EXCHANGE for those who might like to want to be included in participating. ;) Each person will be responsible for one completed page. More info can be found on page 205 on this thread. Warning: It's very lengthy, but all valuable need-to-know stuff. :woohoo: If you're interested in the scrapbook idea, it'll be worth your time.

Right now, I've included the themes for each page, which are listed below. You'll aslo notice those that are highlighted in orange are what others have already chosen. Do not choose these to scrap. Thanks. :cool2:

1. Cape Canaveral/Cocoa Beach/Port Canaveral with ship before cruise
2. Embarkation/Through the Ears/Ship model
3. Sail Away
4. Character Meet
5. Halloween/Costume Party

Once you’ve read the exchange information on page 205, please PM me, if you want to participate, with what I asked for, and please don’t forget to give me the name of the event/category.:rolleyes1

I'm totally looking forward to this part of the cruise. :cheer2::cheer2: It'll be so much fun to scrap a page (and recreate it for others) and then get in return different pages to help me finish the cruise scrapbook full of memories... And then also...the same for you. :flower3:

If you have any questions at the end of all the information I provided, please PM me and I'll be happy to help you. See you soon. princess:

Just posting to wish everyone a good Saturday am! Some days I'm so excited thinking about the cruise....I just wish it were here already but it gives me something to look forward to while buried in SNOW here! It's really amazing to travel the streets around my house and just look at the sheer amount of snow we've received. Not sure I can EVER remember a winter as snowy as this one. The houses around here are not equipped to handle this amount of snow..yesterday I heard there were 80 roof collapses in the Boston area!!! Scary! :scared1: Today I plan to stay warm in side and knit and think about warmer days and cruising :cool2:

Have a great day all!

My brother and sis-in-law fly with their little guy all the time, and we have flown with our DD when she was younger. When she was still free on the airline (under 2), we gate checked her carseat. My nephew flies in his now, as he is 2, so since they have to pay for a seat for him, they allow the carseat in the airline seat (check your carseat for a FAA approval). It really is easier to keep them in the seat than an airplane seat. Although DD has always tried to act older than she is (6 now). She thought the airplane seats were big girl seats, so at 2, she wanted to buckle in like the big kids.

How are you getting from the airport to the ship? If DCL transportation, a private car service, you shouldn't need to bring a car seat. If you rent a car, they have them available at an extra cost. I would call ahead.

You won't need car seats on the cruise anywhere...even excursions. I found it crazy, but many of the cars/busses in the ports don't even have seatbelts-very different that the US.

Stephanie

One more thing, for free, only a deposit, you can rent strollers on a first-come first serve basis through guest services on the ship. We did this when DD was about 3 or 4 for one of our excursions.

I woke up to an extremely quiet house this morning. DH was at work this morning. My DD and our dog are at my in-laws. It's just me and my little man...my 14 1/2 year old cat. I'm enjoying coffee, the Today Show, and catching up on DISboards! Too bad I am so used to getting up early every day to get DD off to school, as I can no longer sleep past 7am.

My in-laws are bringing my girls (DD and Ddog) home around 1pm, and we are heading to lunch at Olive Garden. DD and I will then head into the Magic Kingdom for the afternoon/evening where DH will meet us after work. We are heading in to say good-bye to Toontown. Toontown will officially close on February 11th for good, making room for the Fantasyland expansion.

Getting excited to watch my boys play in the big game tomorrow...Green and Gold, Go Pack Go!

Before I moved to Florida almost 15 years ago, I called Wisconsin home. I miss the Dairy State...especially on football Sunday's. I wish I could be at my brother's house with his family and friends tomorrow in a suburb of Milwaukee...what a party that will be! I will be watching the game at my house with DH and DD tomorrow...I won't go to a party here since I actually want to watch the game. I LOVE football!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Stephanie

Morning everyone....just a quick hello...heading out this morning to Colorado...I will try and post some while there...so have a good weekend and talk with you all later
