please don't forget the golden rule -

anyone caught calling our vessel a "boat" as opposed to a "ship" has to be drinks for anyone that notices

and the count shall begin now . . .
:thumbsup2

Definition of a boat: A boat goes on a ship :lmao:

Exciting news.
DH got LAsik this morning. He is looking forward to snorkling and being able to see at the same time:cool1:

Now that is exciting and I am jealous!! I wish I had the guts and $$ to get it as well - it is just so expensive here in NJ!

I hate wearing my glasses when I swim!:sad1:

DH has been asking for Lasik for a long time.
I would never have the nerve to do it, either.
Just the thought make me feel:sick:

We are planning on booking.:woohoo:
Dh is still tyring to convince otheres to come along too.

Funny but that is the same reason I got it!! :) works like a charm!!

Congrat on the Lasik.

Oddly, I'm very nearsighted and wear contact lenses. I have no problem snorkeling while wearing them. I've even found that with the magnification of the water I can see fairly well without my contacts or glasses.

Hi Everybody!!

My name is Shannon and along with DH Rick, we have 3 children: DD17, DS14, and oops! baby DD6:cutie: (all at time of cruising 10/2010). We just got off the 7 night Christmas Cruise and it was MAGICAL!!! We rebooked for this Halloween cruise while on board and it will be our 3rd DCL cruise. We were so unsure on the 1st cruise in 3/07, but once on board, we were INSTANTLY hooked!! This time around we did 3 days at WDW following the cruise (which I would NOT recommend-you from a relaxing cruise to rush..rush...rush at the parks:lmao: ) For this Halloween cruise, we are going to go to WDW BEFORE the cruise! We have never been to WDW at Halloween before and can't wait to see the decorations! The Decorations for Christmas both on the ship and the parks were out of the is world

We live in the VERY south of Texas (only 10 minutes from the border of Mexico) and it is HOT down here, so when we cruise, there is really no difference in temperature for us.:confused3

We had started a meet thread 18 months prior to our sail date for Christmas and had over 2,000 posts by the time we sailed, so it is NEVER to early to start "chatting" and planning. I LOVE the planning part!

Our only obstacle for this cruise is going to be getting the kids out of school. We have a truancy law here in Texas and they can be pretty strict about sending you to truancy court for unexcused absences. We are going to work hard at finding a way around that. We have always had to vacation on school breaks because of it and, of course, it is always the busiest with crowds during those times!:headache: DD will be a senior and it may be difficult, wish us luck!!:wizard:

I can't wait to get to know all of you!
Shannon

The Christmas Cruise? You are so lucky. I am SO jealous. I would have loved to have booked for the CC in 2010 but it's an 11 day and way out for our financial ball park.

If your going to DW first, I really recommend the you don't miss Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. It's great. I know that everyone loves the Christmas party, but I like this better.:goodvibes

Hi Shannon!! & Welcome Aboard!
We too learned this lesson the hard way!!
Running and then relaxing is the way to go!

I so agree with this. We did it backwards in October, only out of necessity. But given my druthers, I'd do the parks first.

I second the recommendation of doing MNSSHP. We've done it two years in a row now and loved it - even without kids.

Welcome Shannon and Family!!!:wave2:

Glad to have you on the board and hope you can get the kids out of school!

Hi Shannon!

We were just on the Nov 1, 2008 western- we went to WDW for the night before and did MNSSHP on Halloween, it was a blast, but I think it would have been better to do it not on the day we arrived. But that would mean missing even more school, so I guess we made the right choice. :goodvibes Unless we fly down next time at night after school....

We DID go back to WDW after the cruise (OMG, we were sooooooooooooo depressed!) but we did not go to the parks- we did all those things we never seemed to do on our other trips, but always wanted to. We stayed at BWV, mini-golfed at Fantasia Gardens, swam in the clown pool, went to Calif Grill, played tennis, rode a surrey bike, checked out Disney Quest. It made it easier to get off the ship knowing we weren't headed straight home.

But it was still more depressing than I ever could have imagined getting off!!!

That's a great idea. We so rarely do that, because every time we go to WDW, we feel obligated to do the parks.

Btw, never ride one of those surrey bikes with three teenage girls. I found myself doing all the peddling, especially up the hills! :rotfl:

I just booked our first Disney cruise to join you guys:cheer2: It will be me, Amy, my dh Brian, and our 3 boys Connor (10), Ben (8),and Jack (3). Our friends are also joining us for our first vacation together.

I look forward to meeting/chatting with everyone!

My DH will tell you the same thing happens with a DW and 2 Dss!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Hi Amyup!!! Nice to meet another mom of 3 boys....it's good to be Queen, isn't it?!

Welcome Aboard to all the new families. I go away for a bit due to work and come back to see so many new 'faces'! Even though this cruise is over a year away I think I've already started counting down to it. Its been a rough winter and the spring doesn't look like its going to be much better. Anyway just wanted to let everyone know that I really am looking forward to seeing everyone and hopefully I can help with some of hte planning stuff soon.

What a day. Pittsburgh is having a snow-turning into ice-turning back into snow storm.:scared1: yuck yuck yuck!! I'm so cold, I wish I was at the Cove Cafe sipping something warm and looking out to sea. When I look out now, all I see is my icy, snow covered car.

Can anyone tell me if Disney plans any special parties/activities on the Halloween cruise?:confused3 Even if they don't, it will be a dream just to be there.::yes::

Stay warm and dry everyone. Remember, spring is just 52 days away.:flower3:
