Oct 30 2010 7 Night Western (PART 2)

So is there a schedule for the FE exchange? I got the room chart but
did not notice any sort of schedule so we all dont do it the same day.

Also, whats with the fans?
This is our 5th cruise and dont recall needing one in our room.:confused3

White noise is a wonderful thing when people are loud in the halls, chairs from upstairs are scraping, someone is out on their balcony talking and oblivious that there might be young kids sleeping next door, etc.. When we travel we tend to leave the hotel bathroom fan on all night to drown out any late night revelers making noise from the elevators to their room. We prefer fans over the machines that make cricket calls, ocean waves, sounds of spring, etc. And ear plugs never work for us -- the twins can't keep them in their little ears.

We just found this board. Lotsa reading.
We'll be there next week. Looking forward to it.

I See... or hear for that matter. We are usually low in the ship and there is ship noise covering that but our first cruse was in secret port hole room
5522 and the family would return late in the night with cranky kids. That would have helped!

GO PHILLIES!!!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1:

I was looking at Group C and I would like to thank the other family's who obviously are in more then one group....thank you, thank you. We are aware that this is the late group so thank you for joining. We are really looking forward to this trip. I am hoping our children can develope lasting friendships as the ages listed are very similar. Again Thank you.

By the way, we are late dining...I am not sure how to add that info.

OH, and one more important informational item...Hayden is a girl...so it should read DD not DS.

Also, celebrating Dana birthday (Age withheld :)), Wil Birthday (48) and Harrison Birthday (10)...

I read some posts about a cell phone tower on CC??? Anyone know if cell phones (Verizon) work on CC? Do I need international service here or can I use a DCL service of some type.

I have a college student holding down the fort at home so would like to "keep in touch" if you know what i mean.

So I looking through the house and cleaning today, we found about a dozen or so batteries, a fan, car usb charger, and a micro SD card with an adapter. The fan is one of those desk stand up right ones. I opened it up knowing it would need a cleaning. @#$% It really did! I think out of this little 8-10 " fan there had to be about 3 inches in total of dust built up. Then I went to test the micro sd card. My camera kept rejecting it and I couldn't figure out why. So I transfered some files from my comp to it.. and found the problem. It had basically become too old to use. Its sorta a bummer when you finally get down to the "leaving week" and you start looking for even the slightest bit of savings so you can indulge later.

I got some bad news tonight. My boss' father passed away on Friday night. The viewing is tonight and the funeral is tomorrow. I'm pretty friendly with my boss (he's a very open guy). I'm feeling a little guilty about going on vacation when I know that he'd prefer to have my support at the office and to run things in his absence. :sad1: A couple of weeks ago his common law partner was hospitalized with a stomach tumour and I "acted" for him then (was Manager for the week and half he was away). I'm sure I'll be doing it again this week but then I've got the next two weeks off (a few days to pack, a couple of travel days, a couple of days at WDW and then the 1 week cruise).

Sorry about your news :sad2: It is awful that we get these massive guilty feelings, but it just shows what a kind and thoughtful person you are, and I am sure your boss knows that too. You deserve your break, and he will manage fine - maybe being busy as work will help him after his loss. At least you are there for him this week

I don't think there is a schedule, so I guess it's just a question of as and when!

Cruisers have had limited success calling home. The problem is two-fold, one is reception, the other cellular service.

Most of the world uses GSM cellular network techology; the US uses both CDMA and GSM.

Verizon uses CDMA which can be problematic world-wide in relation to Sprint, AT&T, and T-Mobile. If there is a new cell tower on CC that will help resolve one issue, the other one you may be able to work out with your cell provider.

:welcome: aboard Craig and family! We are glad to have you sailing with us! Hope this thread helps you with your last minute planning. :)

:goodvibes You're welcome! This is such a wonderful group, and it's going to be a fantastic cruise!!!

We have Verizon Wireless and always have our phones with us and on when we sail, however we never have had reception onboard the ship. We have not been to CC since the cell tower installation so I can't help you there, but do make sure you activate International calling prior to leaving. Hopefully you find something that works out for you!!! :thumbsup2

I don't know about ya'll but I will be eating, drinking, working, packing and that's about it for the next 11 days!

LOL, I've been skipping breakfast and lunch the past more than a few days because I've been SO busy, and ALL I can think of is how much I'll BE eating on the ship!:)

Just a reminder...

DCL is broadcasting a Travel Agent only webinar this afternoon. The purpose of the webinar is to annouce the Fantasy's inaugural, 2012 itinaries, and other items.

What I have heard so far is the Fantasy is supposed to set sail on or about March 23, 2012 taking over what is normally the Magic's 7 Western/Eastern Caribbean itineary. An interesting tidbit is that DCL may not be going back to Key West and that Galveston, TX appears to be on the list of new ports.

Expect a communication from your TA later this afternoon when the webinar is over.

I will post what I get from my TA.

You will have less than 24 hours to decide if you want to book "day 1" since the rates should open up tomorrow morning.

We are hoping for a Wonder repo that includes Hawaii.

Jeff

Good Morning all!!!:goodvibes I can almost taste my first pineapple mojito!:cool1:

Some quick questions:

Is Brent the current CD?

Who is our Captain since Captain Tom is in Germany learning how to "drive" the Dream!;)

And, from my DD... does anyone know what happened to Pikey? I heard he is gone (he is DD's favorite CM ever!):woohoo:

Thanks!
Kristen

CD is probably Brent or Rachel.
Captain: Yes, I think Captain Tom is getting the Dream ship-shape.
Pikey: Haven't heard his name mentioned in a while so my guess is he is not around.

The main forum will be sure to know the answers, I would try posting there unless somebody he knows.

So the DCL site has Fantasy info posted through September 1, 2012.

Now, my dilemma: Keep my October 2011 Eastern on the Magic or shift it to an August 2012 Eastern on the Fantasy?

Pros of the Magic - The cruise is sooner!
Cons of the Magic - I would have already seen this ship.

Pros of the Fantasy - New ship!
Cons - An August 2012 cruise on the Fantasy is likely going to be more expensive than an October 2011 on the Magic.

Decisions, Decisions. It would really help me if I had some pricing info.

Somebody posted from the 10/16 from Key West last night that the CD was Brent and Captain is Thord. :) We like Brent, and I'm not sure we've sailed with Thord before. :)

Prices are very high, higher than we expected. Starting at $959/PP inside.

I haven't poked around the site but that's what Ron told me.

No smiles from us in regards to the announcement today though. The prices are pretty darn high and even if they had announced the dates we wanted we wouldn't be booking them now due to how high of a deposit that would be... I guess we'll book a dummy onboard (what choice do we have) and hope for prices to fall some. With the Dream's reasonable prices in it's inauguaral year we were really hoping for the Fantasy to have the same, but I guess with the anticipated demand of the caribbean itineraries in the summer, something that has been sorely absent the last few years the dollar signs have won out.

As usual the Silvers get the shaft too, but I guess we weren't in a hurry anyway. As disappointed as I am it is probably a good thing for us, as it will be less out of our pocket now, and more to spend on other things onboard. :thumbsup2

Maybe we just need to lower our taste in cruises. LOL (not likely). We will be sailing RCCL's brand new ship next year and looking at Disney's newest ship in '12 my mom just shakes her head at me and hops on an old Carnival ship. :rotfl2:

Kind of confused. :confused3 When I go to the DCL site there are no 2012 dates listed so how is Ron checking the prices? I must be missing something. :rotfl:

I just checked the online for the Fantasy's PoC and it has Costa Maya instead of KW.
