Hi,

We arrive at DL on Sunday 2nd, which apparently is a GAY day. Is this an extremely busy day? We are contemplating whether it is worth going into the park that day, or at least the night to see the fireworks since they only will be on for 2 days during our stay.

Also, does being a GAY day mean they expect non gay families to stay away on these days?

I thought the main day of festivities was Saturday October 1st? Anyway, October 2 is the day we arrive too! Wahoooo! We have seating for Fantasmic, so I am pretty excited! :Pinkbounc
I am guessing all types of families are welcome, even if there are Gay Day celebrations planned. I am looking forward to Haunted Mansion Holiday, and Celebrating my friend's 50th Birthday with the Mouse ::MickeyMo ! We are arriving on Sunday to catch the Fireworks and Fantasmic. :wizard:
(sshhhhh...don't tell anyone that I just got back from there today
We took an unexpected 2 day over Labor Day Weekend )

Bug's Mom
I found this on another thread:
FANTASMIC DESSERT BUFFET
Prices:
* Balcony seating: $53 per person
* Premium seating: $53 per adult (10+) / $43 per person (3-9) 2 and under are free provided they sit on your lap
*subject to change

To reserve your seats, contact your Travel Agent or call (714) 781-4400. Reservations can be made 30 days in advance and do book up quickly. You will be required to pay for this at the time of booking and tickets must be picked up on the day of the show at Guest Services, located to the left of the Disneyland Park entrance. Be sure to get your tickets before Guest Services closes.

Fantasmic Balcony Seating

There are approximately 20 chairs available at this location and reservations include unlimited dessert and drinks. If your reservation is for the first show, you can stay in your seats and enjoy the fireworks show afterwards. Access the balcony by going up the steps to the Gallery above Pirates of the Caribbean. Seating is determined in the order that the tickets are purchased.

Oh wow, no fireworks? That is too bad. I did catch a bit of them this weekend. I still haven't seen them from in front of the castle and I hear that is the place to be!!

If you travel to the park on "Gay Day" be prepared to see some couples that are fairly "expressive." Note: to me it doesn't matter what your orientation is, you needn't be overly affectionate in public.

Otherwise... have a great day! Every "gay" couple we've ever been around has been tons of fun to hang out with! :teeth:

According to this link - link deleted - it's October 1st so no worries on the 2nd about crowds! (well from Gay Days anyway)

Ok, it won't let me post the link, but it's on the apgf "dot" org website. You could google it as well.

I believe the celebration is two days. Saturday they are in Disneyland and Sunday in DCA.

That's the way it's been in past years. We were there last year. It was a little crowded, but not too bad. If you want to steer away from the crowds, go to DCA on the day they're in DL and vice versa.

Bummer - we will be there on the 1st. Perhaps we'll spend the bulk of that day in DCA.

No your comments weren't innappropriate at all. I just meant that "bummer"
is a funny term given we were discussing gay days. :teeth:

Just don't be like my husband who was in Disneyland today by himself and accidentally wore a red shirt...just like hundreds of other gay men! He says he got many the proposition. oops! :-)

Gays Days at the DLR is a non-Disney sponsored event....same as Goth Days or any other large group wanting to have a meet at the resort. Disney wants everbody to feel welcome everday....and come to share their love of Disney!

We were at DL yesterday and it was very busy. Gay day usually runs over the whole weekend. Or it has the last few years. Its worth the crowds to ride NBC!

I did the exact same thing last year. Who knew wearing Anaheim Angel Red would make me self conscious of myself. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

My husband and son both had red shirts on and went last year not knowing!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: He came home and was dying as he was telling me. I laughed so hard... I grew up in West Hollywood .... my husband on the other hand is kind of conservative :rotfl: :rotfl:

I was there on the 1st and my mom thought it was cute that these three early 20s guys were all wearing matching red shirts. I had to explain it to her.
Crowds were a little heavier then the previous Sunday.
