I have the opportunity to take my ds6 to dl for his 7th birthday (foregoing the large crazy birthday party). It would be just me (mom) ds6 and ds4. They love the thrill rides and are tall enough for everything except Indy and CS. I've been during Halloween time, but never early November. I've also never been just me and my 2 boys. I usually have a helper. Am I crazy to go alone? And what time would be better for our little group? Thanks!!

Let me preface this with its been 5 years since I went to DL during the first week of November... But I would definitely go during that first week of November. Crowd levels were very manageable. I would imagine it would be busier during the lead up to halloween.

Have a great trip :thumbsup2

Two things to note about your dates:
1) Do you *want* Halloween experiences? If so, you have to go the first weekend. You could even attend an MHP on Mon, Oct 29. The crowds will be bigger, but so will the atmosphere, decorations, mood. You could also take them to be made over at the Pirates League, which is scheduled to leave the park after Oct 31. (I have three boys, 2-7yo, and we're definitely getting the older two made over!)

2) The crowds will definitely be smaller on the 2nd weekend, so if that's really important to you, you might prefer it. But that Saturday (and maybe the Sunday?) I believe the Holiday Parade is scheduled to be filmed in the park. Maybe someone with more knowledge and experience can chime in with what that means for areas being blocked off part of the day, etc.--or maybe the chance to see part of the parade 9 days early!

I went those dates in November 2010 and it was AMAZING! very quiet, no lines. I was worried about keeping track of the kids when there are lots of people around. So even mid-level crowds make me anxious when little ones are in tow. But it was so easy. And it was fun to see the new Christmas decorations that popped up each morning. its a small world was the only ride closed for refurb. I would definitely recommend it.

Thank you all!! We are flying jet blue and my DH insisted I stay 6 days with my 2 boys so nov 1-6 here we come! I think our trip this month with DH, MIL, ds6 and ds4 will be much more relaxed since I know we are coming back soon! Gotta put our annual passes to good use!

Glad to hear early November is still so quiet! :)
