Oct 20, 2011 Disney Dream

Hi everyone! This will be our second cruise on Disney. We did the Wonder last January with our entire family - 17 of us. We booked the Dream while on that cruise for this coming May, but just changed to the October cruise so we can go back with my husband's brother and his family.

We did not do FE on the first cruise, but have been told by family that it is a must. I better start looking for an FE online!

Our kids will be 5 and 3 on this cruise. Hoping they will be amenable to going to the Kids club so we can get some adult time.

Is anyone doing Palo on this trip? How do you decide on a 3 day - I don't really want to miss any of the restaurants.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Jaime, Tayler, Mason and Layla

I probably won't do Palo on this cruise. Since we're doing B2B I'll wait until the 4 nt cruise. I plan on a Palo brunch. Still debating on Remy. Thems some mighty expensive eats!

Don't I know you???? pirate:

We are all so excited that you were able to change your cruise date. And yes, the FE is worth doing. The kids loved it last time.

Well it looks like I am going to be booking this cruise. The kids have Oct. 21 off from school and get out early on the 19th so they will only miss one day. I just need to figure out who all wants to go. DH is not crazy about Disney but likes to cruise so I might get him on the ship but he also coaches soccer in the fall so it might be just me and the kids. So if everyone goes there will be me, dh, DS12, DS10, DD7. I will come back and post as soon as I officially book it. I am really excited. I have never done a Disney cruise. My kids will be excited because it looks like Disney's pools are fresh water. They hate the salt water pools on the other cruise ships we have been on. I guess I better get busy and read up on the Dream.

Hi, Disney newbie here! :goodvibes

We just booked our first ever Disney cruise (well, first cruise period) for the October 20th, 2011 sail. It will be me, my hubby, and my three kids - 8, 5 and 21 months at the time of our trip. We'll also be staying three nights at Carribbean Beach Resort after the cruise. I can't wait. This will be my kids and hubby's first trip to Disney, my second (and I was only 9 when I went)!

I have never posted on this board before but I'm looking forward to keeping up with everything!!

OH --- and I'm trying to learn all the lingo. What does FE stand for? (hehe)

Welcome! We're glad to have you!

FE = Fish Extender. There's a fish mounted next to every stateroom door, It is actually a clip that hold notes from other passengers, castmembers, family, etc. The Fish Extender is something that hangs on the Fish and has a number of pockets on it to "extend" it's utility. Often, there is a swap of gifts onboard that uses the fish extender. Most Cruise meets thread has someone who is keeping track of those who wish to participate and which room they are in. Before you embark on the cruise you will get a list of those who are participating and you simply drop a present in each fish extender on the list. Others will be doing the same to you so you will rarely return to your room without finding a gift in your extender.

How fun! I can't wait! Ahhhh, the anticipation... and we still have, what? 10 months to go??

Hi All
I just stoppped by to see whats going on - Denver and I sail in 11 days on the Wonder in Cali we cant wait ! We will post back when we get home
welcome everyone :-)

My hubby and I contemplating waiting until the night before the trip to tell our kids. Is that cruel? :littleangel:

My thought process is this: tell the kids now, they will be crazy anxious, and since our trip isn't for another 9 months, that would just be senseless. I could just imagine my four year old asking us every night when we're leaving... lol. I remember my first (and only) Disney trip as a kid, and it was a total and utter surprise... I didn't find out I was going until the MORNING of our trip! I am pretty sure it was the most excited I've ever felt in my whole life (next to meeting my three kiddos for the first time).

So what do you think? Cruel or fun?

We just signed up for this cruise! Our DS (almost 14) has a short fall break from school, and we decided to spend it on the Disney Dream! In addition to DS14 it will be myself (DW48) and DH52.

Let the countdown begin! :dance3:

I would say fun!!! We've told our kids and that is all they talk about, which is a good thing, but it does become annoying at times :)

Hello everyone! We just booked this cruise last night. We will be sailing the 4 day just prior and then will re-board for this one! This will be the first time we have done this, but read about others doing it as well. Anyone ever sailed back to back? Just wondering how it works. I know that you have to disembark, but I am wondering if we have to take our luggage with us, when they let us back on the ship, and if we have to go through registration again. We also do FEs, so please add us to your list if there is one! We are in #5650, but thats pretty close to the teen club, so we are tossing around the idea of asking to change cabins. We are also baffled about the dinner/show times and which one is better for us. We usually liked main dining, but the choice of a 5pm/9pm show is throwing us off. Any comments?

Fun. My problem is... I am horrible at keeping secrets. I think that I may surprise the family one day with a WDW trip but I gotta find a good enough deal for it. I'd like to go during the Christmas season.

Welcome!

buick86: While I like those rooms for their gargantuan verandahs... I have to say that that room may be a bit problematic. You'll be next to the kids clubs but I think that there is enough separating you from the actual common area to be okay but look below you. Restrooms not bad but next to them is the 687 club. I'm not sure of the theme of that particular club, but I'm guessing that if they do any loud music you may be able to hear that bass. we're doing back to back's this time around as well except we start with this cruise and then do the following 4 night. I'll be taking an inside cabin for this cruise and be on deck 7, then on the four night I got one of these 5E cabins except We'll be fore and over the restrooms to the Walt Disney Theater. Since we are always up late, we'll not be bothered by the noise there as the Theater will be closed by the time we retire.

I totally stink at keeping secrets too. I'm going to try really, really hard! Might be a little difficult though due to the kids having to miss school. I'll have to tell my kid's teachers to keep quiet too. I'm so excited to be going on vacation, I can't imagine how excited my kids are going to be!

Hi everyone. I haven't been on here in a week or so. Just real busy with work. I just wanted to say welcome aboard to all the new additions this week. We all look forward to meeting you. Talk to all of you soon.

Nope not cruel at all, My wife and I would have done the same but this trip was there big Christmas present so we let the cat out of the bag already. It is hard to keep a secret for a long period of time. We booked this trip back in March of last year. I can't tell you how many times I almost slipped up and told them by accident
