Hi all! Feeling better today, but still not 100%. I'm glad to hear about Joey and Tyler.

Garry and I have been on weight watchers since November and Garry has lost 43 lbs!!!! I'm very proud of him. I have lost a total of 15.7 lbs. I've gone down a pants size and Garry has gone down 2!! Even with the holidays and birthdays and superbowl party that we had, we are still going strong. I would like to loss another possible 10 lbs. before I'll be happy with the way I look. We shall see IF that happens. But, Garry really looks great!!!

Nothing new going on around here. I hope everything is going well with everyone!

Susan, thinking about you!

Well, be back later!

TTFN

Julie, you guys are doing AWESOME!!!!! Keep it up. I need to get back on track but embarrassed to go weigh in. I hope I get my nerve up for tomorrow's meeting.

OH Heidi. Guess what I just ordered.......Saskatoon jam. Same brand that we got in Waterton. Stacey had a bite of my sandwich today and loved it. I bought 3 jars at 6.32. I didn't think the price was that bad. The shipping was 12.00 but I really didn't care. I knew if I asked Al and Bev to send us some it would be bad anyway. I will share with you, no problems.

Good Morning
Sorry I didnt post yesterday. Got to work late because of the snow and stayed busy all day. One of my high school friends called me on Sunday, missed her call so I talked to her on the way to work yesterday. Her 22 year old nephew, as she put it "blew his head off" over the weekend. I felt so bad for her. She cried and cried while we were on the phone. Not the best start to my day yesterday.

Julie-Congrats to you and Garry on the weight loss!! That is awesome!! :cool1:

Denine-Stayed inside all weekend. Didn't want to go out in the cold so no movie :sad1: My Mom came over Sunday and we scrapbooked all day. Havent seen her since before Christmas so it was a good day.

Sandy-Such good news about Tyler going home.

Heidi-Good Morning! Didn't see a post from you recently so I don't know what you are up to.

Julie and Gary - congrats on the weightloss, that is awesome!!!!! Can you pass some of that motivation over here??!!!!!! Glad you are feeling better.

Mom - I still have some, thanks! Glad you found it, I will forever remember that jam!!!!

Barb - That is so sad about your friend's nephew. I will never understand suicide. It must be a horrible feeling for the family. Keeping them in my thoughts and prayers.

Denine - I hope you have sun today! How are you feeling?

Freezing drizzle and thick clouds. Going to turn to snow. It looks like a very light snow right now. If it gets warm enough, we will get rain in the winter.

Julie: Glad to hear you are feeling better.

As exciting as the men's hockey game was 2 nights ago, last night was just BORING. We tried to watch some of the women's hockey (Canada v Finland). It was so boring and then all they had on NBC was ski jumping. We turned off the tv and I went to work on my puzzle.

I need to lose about another 30 lbs to reach my goal. At least I could put my jeans on the other day. They are still snug, but wearable.

I've got to work on packing. We may leave Friday when I get home from work so we can be there earlier on Saturday.

Sandy: I think you need to have that MRI to see what is going on with your shoulder. Fixing the problem you know is better than treating a problem you don't know the cause of. (Yes, I know I ended the sentence in a preposition.)

I hope everyone else is well.

Denine, your post proves that no two people are alike. I enjoyed the Olympics last night. I don't watch hockey but I enjoyed the ski jumping and the ice dancing. Sorry with your weather but we have sun again. Not for long. Looks like Thurs has a chance of snow along with Sunday. I know I should have that MRI it's just...............excuses, I know.

I gathered the courage to weigh in today. Not bad but far from perfect. Since all the shoulder, funeral, Tyler stuff, I gained 2 lbs. I knew I wasn't eating correctly but believe you me, I am an emotional eater. I know that but can't control. What's a person going to do? From here I go forward!:thumbsup2 I was doing awesome before vacation and all the other stuff so I know it's possible. I'm making a WW chowder for tomorrow.
This rich, chunky chowder is extremely satisfying. Lean Canadian bacon gives it great flavor without much fat.

Ingredients

2 cup(s) potato(es), cut into 1/2-inch cubes
1 large carrot(s), diced
1 cup(s) leek(s), chopped, white part only
1 medium garlic clove(s), minced
4 cup(s) fat-free chicken broth
1/2 cup(s) uncooked barley
1 piece(s) bay leaf
1/4 tsp dried thyme, crushed
1/4 tsp black pepper
4 oz Canadian-style bacon, cut into 1/4-inch pieces
1/2 cup(s) fat-free evaporated milk
2 oz fat-free half-and-half

Instructions
In a slow cooker, combine potatoes, carrots, leek, garlic, broth, barley, bay leaf, thyme, pepper and bacon; cover and cook on low for 6 hours.

Stir in evaporated milk and half-and-half; heat through, uncovered, about 10 minutes. Yields about 1 2/3 cups per serving.

Heidi, if you want to make it, do not go out and buy the half and half. I have tons. Just stop by.

Headed to therapy. Bye!

Mom - that sounds good. I will stop by alright, to eat!!!!!! j/k

My BFF just bought a membership to the gym I work out at so I guess there is my motivation! She is already making me go to the gym with her tonight for Zumba! I have never done that before so it should be interesting!

Good for you Heidi (and Taura). You are always the best at exercising. BUT, will you two accomplish anything or just laugh?? LOL j/k

OK, have to admit I am doing awful in the weightloss camp these days. Dad likes to eat ice cream everyay and I can't help but join in. Ice cream has always been my downfall. There also seems to be a homemade cake or pie being dropped off too. Can't let that stuff go to waste, now can I? (Sandy, talk about excuses. I am the master of excuses.)

They have increased Dad's fentanyl patch so hopfully by tomorrow we will have the pain under control. Not so sure about the emotional roller coaster. It is so hard not knowing what to say when he is so distraught and sobbing. I just cry with him. I am staying home tonight with Turner. Paul is at his parents house. His mom's by-pass is tomorrow. I will keep you guys posted.

I am so glad to hear Tyler is home and on the mend. He is such a trooper.

Thans again everyone for all you kinds words of encouragement of prayers for my Dad. I know I am not the only one who has gone through this kind of grief. You guys give me such strength and comfort.

T H A N K Y O U!!!

Love you guys!!:grouphug:

Susan, I pray that he gets his pain under control. I know how hard it is to see him like that. You know what???????? You can always lose weight later. Enjoy that ice cream time with him!! Don't feel guilty or worry about it!!!!!! Let Paul know that we are thinking of him and his mom. We pray everything goes perfectly. Hugs and more hugs for you.:grouphug:

Good grief, another school shooting in the neighborhood. At least no deaths. It's like de ja vu all over again but in a reduced manner. I can hear the helicopters but not tons of them. I feel horrible but I don't want to listen to the news all night about it. I would rather move on. I guess I am done with it all. Maybe a tad hardened and I don't like that. Stacey and Heidi went to that school for a year before their new school opened. My brother lives a stones throw away from it.

American Idol tonight. I think I will record the Olympics.

I WANT CHOCOLATE....help me.

Sandy, they sell weight watchers candy that is CHOCOLATE!!! It is pretty good. There is chocolate turtles, mints (like york peppermint patties, chocolate peanut butter cups, chocolate toffee bites... all are I think 2 pts. for each piece, some are 1 and some are 3. It satisfies that need for chocolate. We find it by the sugar free candies at the grocery stores or by the diet pills and stuff. They aren't too expensive either!

Susan, I hope they can get the pain under control. I believe they never did manage to get Garry's dad's pain under control. It is a horrible feeling to see someone in so much pain and there is nothing you can do. Hang in there! We love ya!

Thank you so much Heidi, Barb, Susan and Sandy for your kind words for our weight loss. We have been trying really hard. My biggie weakness is home made pie and it KILLED me not to have any over the holidays but I figure once I get down to where I want to be, I WILL be able to have a piece now and then and not worry about it. Garry's is cake, but we didn't end up having "birthday parties" with the family for Garry and Brooke this year, so that sorta helped. I just made a small cake for each on their special day.

Denine, I hope that the snow they are calling for starting on Friday doesn't delay your departure any. I know Jerry does the driving, just drive safe!

Sandy, I watched the Olympics too last night and enjoyed them as well. I thought the Russians taking third away from the second American couple stunk! Oh well!

Well, gonna run! Have a good night!

Here is another WW recipe I am going to try. If I am annoying anyone with recipes, speak up.

tex-mex macaroni and cheese

POINTS® Value: 5
Servings: 4
Preparation Time: 15 min
Cooking Time: 15 min
Level of Difficulty: Easy

Think all mac and cheeses are loaded with fat and calories? They’re not: This one uses pureed winter squash for its body and fat-free richness.

Ingredients

6 oz uncooked macaroni, elbow (about 1 1/2 cups)
1 tsp table salt
12 oz cooked winter squash, frozen, thawed
5 oz fat-free evaporated milk
1/3 cup(s) low-fat shredded cheddar cheese
4 oz chopped green chilies, canned, drained
1 cup(s) plum tomato(es), seeded, diced
1/2 tsp table salt
1 1/2 tbsp cilantro, chopped
1/4 cup(s) salsa

Instructions
Cook macaroni in a large pot of lightly salted water (use about 1 teaspoon) as per package directions.

Meanwhile, in a medium saucepan, bring squash and milk to a gentle simmer. Stir in cheese, chilies, tomato and 1/2 teaspoon of salt; heat until cheese melts.

Drain macaroni. Return noodles to pot and toss with cheese sauce and cilantro. Divide into 4 portions and top each serving with salsa. Yields about 1 1/4 cups of macaroni and 1 tablespoon of salsa per serving.

Yummy! Both sound soooooooooooooo good!

Barb, I am sooooo sorry. I keep forgetting to address your post. I feel so bad for your friend. That had to be horrible. The way she put it makes me think she is in shock, bless her heart. I am sure it was hard on you to listen to her.

Julie, want a WW chicken fried steak recipe?

That would be great Sandy! Any WW recipes would be awesome!!!

Barb, I totally missed your post about your friend. That was a bad start to your day!! Glad your friend had you to cry on your shoulder! You are such a super friend!!!! I hope your week will go by better!

Chicken-Fried Steak

POINTS® Value: 6
Servings: 4
Preparation Time: 10 min
Cooking Time: 23 min
Level of Difficulty: Moderate

It looks like fried chicken but it's actually steak coated with seasoned flour and bread crumbs. It's pan-fried until crisp, then drizzled with a rich onion gravy.

Ingredients

12 oz lean beef round
1/4 cup(s) white all-purpose flour
3/4 tsp table salt, divided
1/4 tsp black pepper, divided
1 1/4 cup(s) fat-free skim milk, divided
1 large egg white(s)
1 cup(s) dried bread crumbs, coarse-variety
2 slice(s) uncooked reduced-fat bacon
1 spray(s) cooking spray
1/2 cup(s) onion(s), chopped
1/8 tsp hot pepper sauce, optional

Instructions
Place steak between 2 sheets of waxed paper and pound to 1/2-inch thickness; slice steak into 4 equal pieces.

Combine flour, 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/8 teaspoon of pepper on a plate. Combine 1/4 cup of milk and egg white in a shallow bowl. Place bread crumbs on another plate.

Dip a piece of steak in flour mixture; turn to coat both sides. Next, dip steak in milk mixture; turn to coat both sides. Lastly, dip steak in bread crumbs; turn to coat both sides and set aside. Repeat with remaining pieces of steak; reserve 1 tablespoon of leftover flour.

In a large nonstick skillet, over medium heat, brown bacon, flipping once, about 5 minutes; remove from skillet and set aside. Add steaks to same skillet and place over medium-high heat. Cook about 3 to 4 minutes per side for medium, or longer to desired degree of doneness. Remove steaks and set aside.

Off heat, coat skillet with cooking spray and set over medium heat. When hot, add onion; cook until tender, stirring occasionally, about 4 minutes. Add reserved tablespoon of flour; cook, stirring constantly, for 1 minute. Pour in remaining cup of milk, scraping up any browned bits with a wooden spoon. Reduce heat to medium-low; add remaining 1/4 teaspoon of salt, 1/8 teaspoon of pepper and hot sauce. Crumble bacon; stir into skillet. Increase heat to medium and cook until gravy is thickened, stirring constantly, about 1 to 3 minutes. Spoon gravy over steaks and serve immediately. Yields about 3 ounces of steak and 1/4 cup of gravy per serving.

Good morning all.

Susan - my heart aches for you. I couldn't imagine how hard it is to sit with your dad when he is upset and crying, I would cry too. Enjoy that ice cream with your dad, you will never ever be sorry that you did. You can worry about weightloss later. We love you and keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. We are here for you.

Denine - I hope your drive isn't effected by the weather. Keeping my fingers crossed for you that it isn't a bad drive.

Julie - I never use to like pie and just recently it seems like I can't get enough apple pie! That is awesome that you avoided pie during the holiday. Great will power. I am sure I would have been sucked in!

Yesterday when I was driving home from work and I saw the helicopters my first thought was "please don't let their be another school shooting", because now all I ever think about when I hear helicopters is Columbine because we had days of hearing that sound. Then I continued down the road and saw news vans and I knew it wasn't going to be good. Turned on the news to find out about the school shooting. Thankfully everyone has survived but there is one victim in critical condition at Children's Hospital. I first thought, "wow, I went to that school" and then thought OMG the Hagen's (my aunt, uncle and cousins) live literally about a block away on the same street. Crazy. This guy seems like a wack job. He is 32 and went to the school when he was 14, doesn't live anywhere close to the school anymore, and was having voices in his head.
