Good Morning!!

Bonnie- You are such a sweetie!! You made me feel really
special this morning! What is your count down for?? Did I miss something??

Glad to hear power is back on. Strange! Progressive's corp office is in Ohio and they were down.

One of my Aunts passed away this moring. She lives in Ohio where most of my family is. All our roots are there. She has been pretty sick for a while although she is no longer in pain it still makes me sad.

Only 7 days until camping.

Barb:smooth:

Good morning all.

Barb, sorry about the passing of your Aunt. You are right, she is no longer suffering and is in a better place.

I sure have been ansy trying to get back from the campground to see who of my DIS family has been affected by the black out. Thought for sure it would have been Bonnie. That surprised me that she didn't even know about it. Ok, so that leaves, Jeanne, Joyce, Denine, Julie, Diana. Shoot, I have to go back down tonight and probably won't know a thing until Sunday.

Lori, did you see on the News about a terrible accident on 85 last night. I know it hit the news but my brother didn't really listen. Anyway, Ted had to make a "U" turn with the truck and 36' trailer in the middle of highway 85 (Santa Fe). I was awstruck. He did it perfect. Oh what a mess the traffic was. We went all the way to the accident where the police had it set up for u turns. Turned around and then everyone after us was doing it everywhere. They detoured us over the train tracks and then a train came. I can't believe how scary the whole ordeal was. We made it safe and sound.

Time to get serious and do something around here today. I have "Annie" on TV and can't get motivated. Darn that Family Channel!

I am here, but I can't stay. We lost power for 12 hours. It came back on after 4 AM.
They are telling us to conserve energy which means no computers and stuff like that.
They are going to institute rolling blackouts, but I don't know when we will be affected.

We are here too! Ditto like Denine. We got our power back at 4:40am this morning. We have a boiled water alert until sunday. Was a very interesting day and night to say the least. Garry was suppose to have the night off last night, but he was ordered to work. He did make it home at 6am.

Well, gonna go. Just wanted to let you all know that we are all well and good. Be back when we get the ok.

Barb, Sorry to hear about your aunt! Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Just checking in before we leave. Glad that Denine and Julie were able to sneak on and check in. That must have been and still is a horrible ordeal. Wouldn't wish that on anyone. I thought about Garry and if it did affect their town, how bad it would be on him.

Have a great weekend everyone. Sure hope that Julie and Denine's weekend will be better than their Thurs and Fri.

Love to all.

Glad to hear Ohio got power back.

Sandy-Jeanne & Joyce live just a few miles from me so they weren't affected either. It was all up noth Jersey outside of NY.

Even Glenn called thinking I would be stuck in Philly because the train is a third rail. Apparently they are reporting New Jersey without power but it is only about 1/3 of the state.

Very busy day at work...everyone sick and I am taking zinc, vit c and eccynechia (sp) to try and prevent getting it...throat a little sore and I feel tired but so far ...knock on wood.

Barb-2 weeks until I go see Glenn for 9 days!!!! If I wasn't so busy at work I would probably be bouncing already.

Glad to hear from almost everyone that was in or near the black out zone! Wondering about Diana. Hope they weren't affected.

Went to a pottery shop this evening and did a little painting. A friend invited me and Turner went because on Friday evenings they have a guitar sit in. My friend's boyfriend teaches guitar and Turner has a guitar and is wanting to learn to play. He had a good time hanging with the guys and learned his first chord tonight. Not a bad evening.

We have an equipment swap to go to in the morning for hockey. I'm hoping to get rid of Turner's goalie pads and pick up some bigger ones. He is growing and needs new ones before the season starts next month.

We're having dinner with my Mom and step-father tomorrow. My step-father is going back to Germany on Tuesday and we haven't spent much time with him while he has been here. They have a house here and one in Germany. Mom spends most of her time here in the US and he spends some time here and there. It's har dfor him to give up his house and move here permanently. Long story. Maybe I'll tell you more abut it sometime when I'm stuck here on the weekend keeping the thread alive by myself.lol

Chat more this weekend but probably not til Sunday.

Later!

Barb. My #1 tip for camping supplies that might otherwise be forgotten ... Baby wipes! Sorry to hear about your Aunt. I'll be cooking Sunday for an 'apre funeral' dinner Monday. A friend from church 'crossed over' this morning. Those great souls that we have the honor of meeting, are all the more reason to look forward to seeing them again. (Did that even make sense?)
Oh, I need to get some sleep!
Sandy, you and Annie, those redheads sure stick together!
The cause of those power outages sure has me wondering.
bonnie, I'm going to go look for Glenn's picture right NOW.
See ya, Lori

SHame on all...of course nobody is around I'm sure.

Trying to prevent a cold here...sleeping...taking my zinc/vit c etc.

I hope all electric is back up in Ohio.

Rained here today.

Nothing else new. Nobody to read this so I am talking to myself.

Weird!!!!

I'm here. My Mom and step-father just left. We had a nice dinner with them and they went to mass with us this evening.

Not much happening here either. Hope you fight the cold odd quickly, Bonnie.

I also hope Ohio is back to normal soon. I miss Denine and Julie!

Of course I miss my other friends across the country too!

Later!

:sunny: :sunny: HOT HOT HOT!!!! :sunny: :sunny:

Hot and muggy here today!! Sandy you would hate it......of course I invited my mom and sister for dinner tonight and it is even to hot and humid to stand over the grill. We are living in air conditioning!!

Today I took Kristen & a friend to run around in the "dancing fountain" that Johnson Wax built at their corporate offices on our lakefront this year. It is so cool!! It is kind of hard to describe, but it is a flat cement pavement without a pool/pond of any sort. and water sporadically leaps out at different points like they have at Epcot. It is just out of the ground level -- no plant or anything. Just lots of water and cool fun!! There were even a couple of elderly men running thru it today with the kids!!! (not a pretty sight....LOL!! :p :p

Laurie - Sounds like you guys had a good time at the "dancing fountain". Good to hear from you too. I've been wondering where you have been.

One day left before school starts up and Homework H@&% begins again!! I hope this year is not as bad as last year!

I woke up with another sinus headache this morning. I wonder if with all teh rain we have had if weed season is starting early this year. I have an appointment with my allergy Dr. tomorrow. Maybe he'll do something.

My Dad's iron infusion is tomorrow. I still don't understand a lot about it but I do hope it helps.

I'll check back in later today.

Our float WON!!!!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: Yea !!! We won the Mayor's cup which is best of show. The hospital had won the best noncommercial and a few other categories before, but the Mayor's cup is the big Kahuna that had just slipped out of reach every year. Oh, I love it when hard work pays off. It doesn't always, you know (... just ask Bonnie:rolleyes: ). Now as I watch the chicken-wire cuts on my hands and bruises on my knees heal, it is with a good memory attached. OK, I just had to jump around and brag for a second there. ;)

Way to go Mortorcycle Mama!!!!!!!! Wow! Mayor's cup...I'm impressed.

Yes, My Glenn is very nice!! Pretty terrific actually!!! A good guy!!!!...shall I continue?

JUst got back from shopping with mom...she bought me my boots for my birthday. I got an incredible deal on Cole Haan shoes...don't need them but will eventually and then I will have them! Do you like how I rationalized that purchase?

Then off to Omaha steaks with my coupons...then over to AC Moore for my silk flowers to arrange...now home...thank heavens!!! I truly hate shopping...especially when you are with someone who likes to look, and look...even at things that aren't needed. Me I hit, I get and I get out!!! No puttering...right Glenn?

Good evening. All is back to normal here. We never lost water, so we didn't pay attention to the boil alert. The evening without power was actually kind of fun. Everything was dark and peaceful. You could see the stars pretty well. Everyone was outside instead of glued to their TV's or computers. We went for an evening walk. We lit candles and had our flash light. The only things I missed were my fan and the baby monitor. We got up a couple of times in the night to check on Kaleigh. Our rooms are on opposite ends of the house. We had lost power a couple of weeks ago for 90 minutes. When it went off, I just figured somebody hit something again. Jerry walked in the door a couple of minutes later. After about 30 minutes, Jerry went to call the power company to let them know the power was out. He couldn't get through. I said "what, the power company has no power?" I was joking. We got in the car to go get peaches for a peach pie. The radio was on, but we only heard part of the story saying something about Detroit and other places being affected. Jerry turned off the radio . Again, I kiddingly said, "what, the whole country doesn't have power?" Jerry turned the radio back on to find out that several states were without power. We took the backroads to the place I get peaches and enjoyed the rest of the evening at home. We cooked out hamburgers.

I'll post more stuff tomorrow. It was a busy weekend.

Well, my SURPRISE 50th BIRTHDAY PARTY just ended. I didn't TRUST Ted and my friends and they still were able to pull off a great party without my knowledge. Unbelieveable. It was very nice. A dinner, cake and lots and lots of laughter. Heidi and I went shopping under the pretense of her buying shoes for the wedding and food for the shower. In that time they were able to pull it all off in MY house. My birthday isn't until Sept 30. When I turned 40, they had a surprise party for me in JUNE.

Congrats Lori. What an accomplishment.

Laurie, sorry about your heat. I know you hate it as much as I do!

Susan and Bonnie, hope you are feeling better.

Denine, we were camping so I didn't realize that you lost power again. Hope everything is straightened out for good. Actually, your description of the night sounded wonderful and peaceful.

I am exhausted. I am going to watch the video of my party and go to bed. See you on the flip side. Sandy

LOL Sandy! Happy Birthday ... in advance.:bounce:
That's pretty funny, pulling it off so far in advance, but it seems to work! June is even funnier! What a great family.

What a great surprise Sandy...won't say happy birthday until it is your birthday...as long as lil sis reminds us! LOL!

Denine, Sounds like you had a nice night without the electricity...maybe we all need something now and then to get back to the basics...well maybe not but the sky must have been beautiful. I remember being in Ireland without the constant glow of city lights and how beautiful, and black the night was.

Laurie Lurker....you are lurking again!!!
